I definitely get how for someone who doesn't watch American football on the reg the modern XFL would seem boring, but for someone like me who is from St. Louis, it was amazing. I got to go to our first game and you could tell people really cared. It just had the bad timing of coinciding with a pandemic.
I was a Dallas fan (simply because Denver didnt have a team) but I caught as many of the home STL games as possible. That fan base showed up and loved sticking the finger to the NFL.
I mean. I get it. The first iteration was so bad that it was hard to get people to trust it a 2nd time. Like that Fire Fest or whatever. They did it right and got some great non signed people. But it is still spring ball. Its football and thats awesome to have in the NFL break. Id still like to see the NFL actually make some kinda agreement for a play in game between the 32nd team and the top team of the new XFL though
The XFL reboot was actually very successful. The on field product was great and viewership was better than expected. Covid killed it, but not because it was close to death already, but because it hadn't had the chance to get to the point where it could generate any income.
Yeah I don’t understand their explanation at all. The XFL was actually good and doing really well before the pandemic. Harsh to deem it a “failure” when it was better than the original.
@@pigwindow as much as I love the guys, I just think they didn't do any research on that entry at all. They knew it folded and must have just assumed it sucked. They had great attendance, great ratings, and a good product. It really is a shame that the timing was what it was because they were on pace to really have something special.
@@jmreeves89 Agreed, Cultaholic is still the best and I’m not gonna hold it against them for not nailing details related to a second tier American Football league, but yeah they were wrong on that. Doesn’t make sense to call it a failed reboot at all.
If you can find it, there was a match between Al (before he was Al Snow) against Shawn Michaels. Al drops Michaels a few times on accident and if you look. Loosely Michaels gets notably pissed off over it.
Reboot DX I found to be beneficial to keep triple h out of the world championship picture after so long of him being in there and gave something else for Shawn Michaels to do seeing that he didn't want to be a world champion in his second run with the company In hindsight though yeah I mostly agree
King Corbin is so stale at this point. He won KOTR, did nothing after that and he STILL calls himself “king”. Please just go back to being the Lone Wolf. Lone Wolf >>> King Corbin
Vince: "put these guys together and throw the word new in front of a legendary tag team name, that's good shit!" Jim Cornette: hears about the new Midnight Express, takes a long drive and swears for 2 hours straight.
Somebody asked Corny why he didn’t have Bobby Eaton come over and legitimize a new Midnight. “Fuck, they already shit on my dinner table. Why Bobby’s, too?”
Also, of all people to do it with, you go with the two most straight laced and borderline boring people on the roster. Why?! It's like deciding to recreate the new M&M with Lance Storm and Steve Blackman!
Yeah I don’t understand their explanation at all. The XFL was actually good and doing really well before the pandemic. Harsh to deem it a “failure” when it was better than the original.
I agree with this, I actually genuinely liked the XFL and was starting to get attached with some teams and players, sadly COVID killed it off and it made for a good time to watch football when the NFL wasn't around
Yeah I don’t understand their explanation at all. The XFL was actually good and doing really well before the pandemic. Harsh to deem it a “failure” when it was better than the original.
@@calebbonney4193 I was in my 20s when it happened, what does my age have to do with it? I got into wrestling when I was 17 so I hadn't seen original Dx from the start, I only saw them just before they broke up in the early 2000s, my age is irrelevant on this let people enjoy things dude. You
@@gordonjamescowiest literally never said anything bad about it, just asked because the reboot was more popular with children, you seem to really need something to get riled up about
I've gotta agree, really. the 06' version gave us "SEE, I JUST KICKED STAN" so that alone makes it better than some people say.. perhaps they get it mixed up with the 09' version?
The ECW “reboot” was hot garbage and I’ll never ever acknowledge it as ECW. The company died in 2001 and one night stand 2005 was the perfect swan song, what WWE did to it was just.. well it was shit
Was gonna comment about one night stand. = ) WWE's presence there made he show that much better, IMO. It wouldn't have been the perfect swan song without JBl and Bischoff at a bare minimum. Amazing matches on the card as well. = D
Later WWECW was fine when it was a training ground for newer guys and a space for experienced stars to make the new guys look good and to look good themselves
@@yenkocamaro6965 no it really wasn’t, they took everything ECW out of it and cashed in on the name. It went from a strong opening show to a show with a zombie on syfy
@@yenkocamaro6965 Other than a few guys like Punk and Kofi nothing good came from WWECW and was honestly a complete waste it was basically just a developmental with a few already recognisable names which normal developmentals did anyway FCW and early days NXT always had a dark match with main roster guys like Cena on the shows just to get people to go and watch the show
It’s honestly really interesting hearing a non-American perspective on the XFL. For sports fans in America, I think it’s safe to say the revamped XFL was a breath of fresh air. The games were competitive for the most part, the crowds were invested, and there were even some success stories of people using the league as a way to breathe new life into their football career. It’s a real shame Covid derailed the league because it looked like a real promising product!
XFL 2020 was actually good! It showed good football & was likely on its way to having a second season before the pandemic ruined it. Even with the few games play I wouldn't call it a failure
Yeah I don’t understand their explanation at all. The XFL was actually good and doing really well before the pandemic. Harsh to deem it a “failure” when it was better than the original.
@@pigwindow yea & the only "failure" that you can even say about the league was the pandemic ending it mid season. OG XFL was a disaster but this was such a complete makeover you forget how bad the 1st one was
When WWE revived ECW in 2006, the "E" didn't stand for Extreme, it stood for Entertainment. It was the total opposite of everything the original ECW stood for. But the brand did introduce the WWE Universe to guys who would be future WWE Champions: CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, and Sheamus. Plus, Christian made his WWE return for the brand.
Yeah I don’t understand their explanation at all. The XFL was actually good and doing really well before the pandemic. Harsh to deem it a “failure” when it was better than the original.
Even as the second XFL ratings started to slide they were still getting as many or more viewers than Raw, Smackdown, NXT and Dynamite have been getting for most of the last year. The football was MUCH higher quality than ANYONE expected and they presented it in a professional manner unlike the first league. Their subtle rules changes from the NFL were better than the gimmick crap they tried in the first XFL and may see traction in the NFL at some point. It was on a strong course and set to win a lot of people over. If Covid hadn't killed the league I think they would have been drawing around 3 million viewers per game in a second season. I'm actually excited to see what Dwayne can do with the league in the future.
I enjoyed the new XFL. There was a handful of real standouts, some decent games and it was cool to see who had the potential to make it to the NFL. I think it gets too much flack.
The XFL in 2020 was a success more so than the original I can't agree that it was bad at all perhaps this is one of those situations where because you're across the pond you won't understand the American Football aspect
The irony of the New Blackjacks is both members are in the WWE Hall of Fame just like the original Blackjacks. Barry Windham (Blackjack Windham) is in as a member of the Four Horsemen and John Layfield (Blackjack Bradshaw) is in as JBL. It's possible Layfield could be a two time inductee if WWE inducts the APA (Farooq aka Ron Simmons and Bradshaw) as a team. Simmons is in the WWE as a singles competitor.
Honestly, I loved the 2006 and 2009 DX. The 96-98 run of HBK leading DX seemed short, and the 2006 and 2009 one had a lot of humor. Stan got kicked, remember?
As a US football the take on the XFL was a bit off. It was much better than the original and had the fan interest, It was COVID that stopped it this go around. It was a great thing to watch in the Spring.
After reading the comments, I wish I had watched XFL 2.0. XFL 1.0 just left such a bad taste in my mouth that I didn't give it chance. Knowing that it's now run by a guy who knows football makes me Eben more intrigued.
As an American, I must say that reboot XFL was SO much better than the original. There were plenty of skilled players, and if COVID didn’t screw it over, I could easily see it being a feeder league for the NFL
Taylor Heinicke, the Washington QB against Tampa Bay in the playoffs last year, was Jordan Taamu’s backup in St. Louis. He had an awesome performance that day. XFL had talent for sure.
Those weren't really reboots, the entire point of those failures was Vince trying to prove that any gimmick could be separated from its performer (shock and surprise, that actually isn't possible outside of masked wrestlers).
To me the name of DX will always solely refer to the watered down 2006 reboot version as opposed to D-Generation X as a whole, they where no longer rude degenerates so it's fitting that they took the degeneration out of D-Generation X which may also be the reason as to why they where almost exclusive referred to as DX throughout this run.
XFL 2.0 was very entertaining. If you enjoy American football, it was intriguing enough, & it was a fun easy watch & the PAT’s were really fun. Covid hust screwed it up
The rebooted XFL shouldn’t be on here tbh. Not because of the first one sucking but because most people in America actually thought the XFL was very fun because it had some rule changes from the NFL and it was football during when football usually is dead.
The new XFL was actually doing really well before the pandemic. It was on track to make profits by Year 3 and was a resounding success. Love you guys, but that was just incorrect.
Xfl the first go round was a bust in the sense that it failed. That being said the NFL the enormous entity that is seriously changed up their camera angles and emphasized a speedier more exciting product for sure. And the second was going to be the AEW of football big buzz around this household for it. But yes covid.
The reboot xfl actually here in the USA was a lot better it had some people intrigued. What failed the XFL for USA viewers was the original was all over the place more wrestling tie ins and less football since the product was bad. But the new one was a great product (less politics in the game also ) different ways to score it was great what killed it was corona
That's very incorrect, Raw is bad, really bad, but oh my god was WWECW some the absolute worst burning garbage fires full of human waste and rotting corpses that ever disgraced my television
XFL 2.0 was good for what it was supposed to be. Spring football. It wasnt gonna be NFL level from the jump. Local arena football isnt the same as the NFL either but its still cool to watch to get a football fix.💁
Some of these don't suck, just didn't get the attention they needed. New Blackjacks case and point; would have been solid if they didn't get burdened with the "New..." shit. They were really popular at the time, got massive pops below the Mason-Dixon at house shows but Vince didn't care because he didn't see longevity in Windham but liked Bradshaw
I'm glad other people are mentioning it in the comments, cause you're completely wrong about the XFL. There was pretty much no negativity about it. It was a success, and everyone that watched it liked it.
WWE version of NWO could have been better if it didn't have a rotating cast of characters. Hogan left too early, Hall got fired then Nash got injured. People who complain about Show & Xpac forget they were members of the WCW version and while Booker T was an odd pick he did have connections because Stevie Ray. I would have argued Hennig should have joined too.
Tough Enough was a disappointment in 2015, but it gave us 2 women that is still doing well in the company while the other (thou shall not be named) was released due to Speaking Out allegations and (*cough* Hulk Hogan *cough*)
10 reboots that were totally awesome Wargames, Chris Jericho, Biker Taker, Chris Jericho, Chris Jericho, Chris Jericho, Dead Man Taker, Chris Jericho, nWo Hogan, Chris Jericho
I believe Adam was only talking about the 2009 DX. The 2006 DX was awesome. Triple H and Shawn Michaels were gold when they dressed up as Vince and Shane McMahon embarrassing the hell out of them. LMAO.
I think it probably is a sign you shouldn't really comment on things you don't understand, I am a brit but I have played football(the American kind) so I understand whats going on, I don't really understand baseball but I am not going to say anything bad about it I just don't get it and thats ok
Pretty much the only reason the new XFL didn't survive was the pandemic. The ratings taper was nowhere near as pronounced as expected. Minus covid it would have succeeded as an off-season League
Cultaholic is reboot 2003 IWC. Marks who don't really understand how wrestling works. 🤷🏻♀️ To paraphrase Scott Hall, "It ain't called wrestling friends. It's called the wrestling business.....brother"
The ice cream bars should have made the list, they came back after many years as small ice cream sandwiches and with a totally different flavor which wasn't really that good.
I actually like Corbin. I'll probably get hate for it, but I love he's really the only WWE guy other than Roman that embraces being heel. Every other heel wants to be cool. I'd love Corbin to be a guy that takes payouts to beat down people.
Please don’t bring back King Of The Ring as a RAW-themed episode. As much as I love Baron Corbin as a very good heel, but he needs to get rid of the king schtick.
What bugged me about The New Rockers, other than Jannetty being a heel, was the way they kept pronouncing Leif with the long E sound. I know that sounds petty, but I'm a Leif Garrett fan and was always tired of hearing his name mispronounced.
I went to a number of XFL games before covid, I dont think it's fair to bash a product when you don't even like the sport to begin with. The games were actually very entertaining, I dont go to a football game to see wrestling elements
Xfl reboot did not suck at all. It was great! This shouldn't be on the list at all. Completely different situation. Glad you did mention the virus as that was the main killer of this reboot, not that it sucked.
Bray Wyatt has gone through enough with WWE already and then there's the new Blackjacks god damn. Although hey Bradshaw was inducted in the Hall of Fame of 2022
Ok so let me get this straight..for the most part, cultaholic has been against “thrown together tag teams,” but would’ve been completely fine with the Snow and Jannety getting a run as long as they weren’t under the “New Rockers” monicker? Makes sense.
