10-Year Milestone: Covenant HealthCare Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement 

On September 30, 2024 the Structural Heart Center at Covenant HealthCare will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the first transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
TAVR is a minimally invasive treatment option for patients with narrowing of the aortic valve. There are times when TAVR is the only option available for patients not suitable for open heart surgery. Compared to open heart surgery, multiple studies have shown TAVR is as effective, with similar risk, but a much shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to normal lifestyle and function.
