OMG!! She plays as perfect as Perlman, Menuhin and the other great violinist!! I want to see her playing in 10 or 20 years!!! AWESOME!!

Wow! At the beginning I thought I was watching and hearing a voice-over. Such effortless display with perfect intonation. Her stage presence is pretty cool too. I am more than impressed.

thanks! but there's so many other pieces that are so much more difficult! it's not only the technical aspect....take mozart, for example. technically, it's not that bad. everyone can play it. but musically, it requires a lot more depth and understanding of the piece.

Wonderful technique! Pity about the recording quality (I don't know what that other person was saying about bad intonation and sound I think it's just the recording). I don't find that actual piece to interesting, seems like a massive etude for position work and riccochet.. though, you executed it wonderfully!

we need to keep in mind these are children. they are very talented and are blessed to have such a special gift for music. we should encourage them. to each his own. bravo and keep up the hard work. these are complex pieces that most adults have trouble playing.

A lot of people are talking about speed, but actually listen to the differences in tone and articulation. Children are incapable of playing with feeling. I've listened both Heifetz's and Perlman's recordings of Bazzini many many times.

well, I think we should stop comparing her to Perlman, I mean he´s older than her. she´s still learning and has a brilliant life ahead! I truly enjoyed this and the fact that she puts so much emotion in her playing, she truly enjoys it!

PERLMAN CAN ONLY PLAY THIS WORK-RIGHT- FROM BAZZINI It is one of the hardest playable violin work ever written - Bazzini was the most famous student of Paganini . Maybe he stood higher than his teacher.

LOL, I love stereotypes (I'm Chinese by heritage). Seriously, though, this is a very impressive technical performance. My RU-vid videos focus on advanced violin techniques, and I've also stuck my neck out and asked for constructive criticism regarding my own playing. Stop by if you'd like- and thanks uni323 for posting this video, it was very enjoyable.

@billprokofiev ...Unless their "dumb friends" can play like this, speak a foreign language, are good at math, etc....I agree with everything you said but don't think anyone is "dumb." Each person has something special they can offer to society...It just takes some longer to figure out exactly what they can offer for the good of others. I barely graduated from high school but wound up with advanced degrees, the ability to read, write and speak a different language and have given back.
@amrosik
@amrosik 13 лет назад
@billprokofiev haha! playing with dumb friends..:) you are absolutely right. But playing with dumb friends automatically means physical activity... and this is extremly important. When I was a child, me and some others dumbheads destroyed and disturbed the whole neighbourhood with self-made bombs and waterrockets and stuff like that, thats what i call physical acivity. I have now started violin in an age, where I have a clearer mind and view. I wish I started 8 years earlier, but thats the way

Yes. Asian parents are very strict to their kids and that is why the kids are so good like that. Younger kids can learn musical instruments really well and they can master it just as fast. Kids have better hearing too and they can pick up high and low frequency, as adults tend to loose their ability to hear to frequency ranges.
@nirvananirvan55

what I meant by Korean is the originality.a teacher influences mostly on the technic and musicality is something that is already inside you and if you don't have that,even a great teacher can not thoroughly develope it for you but the technic can be always developed by working hard and having a good teacher.

A question rarely asked... Why is it that parents can afford the lessons and instruments to support their young children's incredible talent... but then can never seems to afford a decent video camera ~_~ common parents out there... think about the viewers T_T
@jwhill7
@jwhill7 14 лет назад
Just imagine the progress that this ten-year-old must have made during the past six years! But the best part of this performance is the promise, based on her ease of body movement and relaxation. Her teacher deserves a prize. And Mindy deserves a better violin.

well, I really don't want to sound disrespectful to Chinese friends but so far whoever I have seen has applied to the comment I made earlier and I am saying this because I have been around both of them for quite a few years.even my best friends happened to be Koreans.

do you play the violin? because if you do, you should know that if you press hard while shifting extremely fast, your fingers feel like their burning..... do that as practice for a long time and see what happens.....

Perlman sinks his bown into the strings to get the tone that he's stylistically famous for. Heifetz on the other hand plays light and airy in a style that only he can pull off to sound etheric instead of sharp and thin. Even though Heifetz really rushes the tempo, the actual verses don't sound rushed. This girl may stay in perfect tempo the entire piece, but her verses still sound rushed, like she's just trying to finish the song and play the notes instead of forming and shaping the song.
@iplehguitar
@iplehguitar 14 лет назад
lol she's definately not perlman. perlman makes everything so effortless, thats his signature style. her playing, you can sense distress, especially with her bow strokes and her posture. even when perlman was 13, he was still effortless. if perlman made a mistake, it would seem as if it was intentional because of how effortless he is. she has a long way to go to be perlman. but besides the point of perlman, she's terribly, horribly, good. i'm beyond jealous at her talent (really, thats insane)
@DrTarot
@DrTarot 15 лет назад
I'm sorry, but look at Perlman at age 13 and compare her at this age. Then look at Perlman today playing this. He's CLEARLY having fun today, not so much at 13. Look at her, she's closer to Perlman as an adult. And her confidence exceeds his as a child, but she's not having as much fun as Perlman today. Look at his attitude and compare with hers. She compares very favorably and when she reaches Perlman's age just think of how great she'll be assuming no arthritis sets in.

Wow! You are a WONDERFUL violinist! You show marvelous bow control, and great tone quality! I enjoyed listening and watching this video very much. Don't let your talent be wasted... in other words, use your talent, your gift from God. He obviously knew what he was doing when he gave you this stupendous talent. I am also a violinist, but I have yet to conquer such bow control. Keep up the beautiful work, and thank you for popsting something that's NOT a waste of my time.

Big talent and passion or a combination of this with marginally tolerated oppression for the soul of a child? I don't know... Just hope she turns out to be a good human when she grows up, and not a terribly repressed person. Because learning the violin from 3 years old it's not something you choose its your godamn parents' desire.
@billprokofiev
@billprokofiev 13 лет назад
@Rexicano Why are you saying this? are you a Musician? You are calling this piece a sort of baloney because You never had the technique to play? by saying that you are calling, Perlman, Heifetz, Milstein and among other great violinist stupid, because they lost the time to learn, perform and record...Grow up " Musically if you can " man...

i Really would like to hear the opinion of those 63 ppl that dislike this...whats their argument....this is amazing.most people that dislike thinks that the kid should have Childhood, but i really think that practicing any instrument is a remarkable childhood..Better than watch stupid things in the TV or Playing with dumb friends...

I used to be a frustrated violinist, but since enterring college, I haven't done much with my violin. When I get the chance I plan on picking it back up and finishing the Mendelssohn I had been working on. Perlman though has always been a personal role model and hero of mine since I was a child, so it seems blasphemous to say that a 10 year old girl is better than him.

Out of this world brilliant. This skill in such an early age can only come if powered from inside. She had the focus and the drive and the parents did not stand in her way. We know nothing of her childhood. It may have been as happy or unhappy as anyone elses. But with her she has taken an unbelievable skill which will open doors for her, whereever she goes.

You should be able to play without a shoulder rest. They often cause more problems then they solve. Find a teacher who knows how to play without a shoulder rest. The violin rests on the collar bone and is partly supported by the left hand. This is the way it was done for hundreds of years before some fool invented the shoulder rest.

haha yeah there's no comparison with her to perlman...yes it was kind of awkward, and yes her poise was bad, and there were some strange notes that she needs to fix up...BUT great credit goes to her for being able to play this at all. :D it's quite an accomplishment, i would say.

@brian777999

If you hold the violin properley ie, resting on the collar bone...not the shoulder, you will find that you may not need a shoulder rest. People were playing violins for hundreds of years without a shoulder rest.The problem is that not many teachers now know how to play without one.
