I'm 17 and have been playing cello for 7 years...the development of your musicality is honestly incredible. I have perfect pitch, but I struggled to reflect my sense of intonation onto my playing for years. You didn't seem to have that issue at all. Jealous of you ;-; Lastly, I'm not saying playing harder pieces automatically makes one a better musician, but Popper at 13! Get outta here! 😂I just played that last March for my state test and it was so exhausting.
If you try to produce the base sound with arm pressure (or if you correct whisles and stuff with arm pressure), that can massively affect your intonation
EDIT: sorry if my english is bad xC @@paeridolia I recently learned, after a year of good projection but with abuse of pressure, that for making the string vibrate you only need speed and point of contact (lower strings/notes = less bow, far from bridge; higher string/notes = more bow (faster) and closer to bridge) Only THEN you can start adding pressure to that base to produce more volume or make an effect, if you start with pressure from the begining, chances are that you are overdoing it, changing intonation and even stoping the string from vibrating freely Also a side offect of this last one, is that if you are constantly adding pressure, when you make an error or something you may loose the right arm (because you are thinking on correction and we often play soft to correct) and suddenly the notes changes by some comas becuase of the pressue drop and you start messing even more x'd HOW I realized this? just look at the string and make it vibrate from the start of the bow with the most amplitud possible without pressure, then move around near to the string trying to maintain the same sound (looking at it insted of only listening), every whisle and stuff is easly seen on the string and easy to correct this way
That's incredible. I play violin for 16 years now, but never could I imagine having such a neat intonation. Not a single note was out of place, despite all shifts. :o
@@peepeeLETMEHAVETHENAME - I don't agree. Musicality is a talent. Great hearing, musical coordination and sense of rhythm and pitch is a talent and does not depend on the amount of hours you practice. Then of course, everybody needs to work hard. Let's not argue about such an unnecessary topic
I believe it is a combination of hard work and a good teacher. As you can see from the beginning, I do not have any more 'talent' than any other kid. The only talent that is needed is the ability to focus for long enough to actually practice.
@@dareelpeeps290 I am a professional high level musician and music teacher with 30 years of experience. I have been in juries of competitions. In first rounds or selection processes where you hear over and over again the same pieces. Most of them are very well played without any technical problems, nicely phrased, with beautiful sound etc. All of them have a good skills. And in between, suddenly, comes in someone and produces some magic. Something stands out, sometimes you cannot even put a name on it. No musician gets on the top without good teachers and countless hours of practice. But some of them have the ++. I believe and defend that a special musical talent exists.
When you get to the last part, jump back again to the early stages in the video and listen to the change in the sound. When she was a little girl her notes sounded mostly like melodic steps from a recipe that she had to repeat tune by tune like a robot. Years later the transition from note to note is so smooth and soft, the sounds have all these subtle changes and melt together, with such delicacy and sentimental effect. Those are years and years of practice to get to that level.
J'ai commencé à 7 ans... D'où on commence à 3 ans ?!!! C'est sûr que c'est un gros avantage de commencer à cet âge... Quelle force en tout cas ! Bravo !
Your progress is very admirable. I have been playing for 1 year but I started much, much later then you. Please keep playing, please keep sharing. All the best.

Bravo! You are a very gifted and zealous cello player! My daughter (which plays asks: how many hours do you exercise cello every day? And how hours / day many did you exercise when being 11 years old? And how many hours do you have cello lessons every week?
Hi, thank you very much! I practice around 2-4 hours of cello a day currently. When I was 11 I practiced around 45 min-1 hour a day. I have 1 one hour lesson a week, But I also have 2.5 hours of orchestra a week in addition to that.
Hi, Congratulations on all your hard work and, I hope, a lot of fun too1 I am 57 and have been playing for seven months which makes me quite the little girl to your mature woman! I hope I too get ten years to play. Hugs from Max
You will never suffer financial despair. Having devoted this time and effort, you are now guaranteed a bright future and you have earned every bit of it. Much thanks to your mom and dad for making this possible for you. Incredible!
Wow! Well done, your playing at such young age was amazing. I started at six and have been playing for six years, a post grade 8 student and I attend three different orchestras. I am also lucky enough to have perfect pitch. However your talent truly shines in these performances, and I hope you continue to play and excel at the cello.
I'm a 15-year-old violinist (I've been playing for about three-four years), but I just started teaching myself the cello a couple months ago, and, wow! Such a huge improvement in ten years! I'm really impressed, and I really hope I can play like you someday. Practice 40 hours! - Ana
That’s great progress! Really nice to see all those hard work paid off. There seems to be a noticeable improvement between 2014 and 2015. Do you know what caused it?
yeah... i accidentally flipped the 2015 and 2016. Even then, the videos were closer to two years apart because one was in early 2014 and one in late 2015.

Same for me :) But I am not that good, because I only practiced once a week and didn't have much fun with playing... I don't even play vibrato yet and am not able to move to the music... not able to really _feel_ the music I'm playing. I regret not practicing more as a child and am sad what could have been instead... feels like failing with something I do for years
i should be talking about how amazing things is and how i feel like this is incredible, which is true but i also watched this and started crying realizing that i’m so unaccomplished in life and how i should have learned cello and piano at a younger age to be better now but now it’s to late and im 11
It's not too late! You've accomplished a lot just by playing. You are a great cellist. Don't compare your progress to theirs, you are your own person. Talent has no age requirement.
The Ling Ling of the Cello. You clearly practiced 40 hours a day. As a member of the violin gang, your video actually gave me inspiration to try the cello someday
Keep it up, amazing progress! I played from 5th grade through highschool, and been in a classical decline for the past few years as I stopped practicing as much. The tone in the past 5 years has really improved as well as your artistic interpretation of the pieces. Wishing you all the best!
Ive recently hit the 10 year milestone as well and was wondering what other people were playing and im playing kabalevsky too right now as well! i love to see it, your playing is beautiful!!!
Muito especial e maravilhoso ver crianças desenvolvendo a arte de tocar Cello, um dos instrumentos que mais admiro e gosto. Parabéns aos alunos e mestres desta escola!!!
I started playing cello when I was 30 years old, I need to stop playing due to some changes... My daughter is starting her path and I didn't want to interfere in any choice, but she decided to learn Cello... I am extremely happy for her choice and I hope she can progress like this....BRAVO!!!!
Overall very impressive! I’ve been playing for almost 3 years, took a huge break and started over again about 1.5 years in. I’m at about age 7 if I had to rate myself.
I wanna say something that most of the songs ur playing I know like gavotte and more and I don't play cello I play viola but I'm in a music program where I play with different instruments like violin cello bass flute trumpet french horn and more! A fact that I know is that when u play a instrument and ur sitting sit at the edge for better sound and it is more comfortable. Another fact that I know is the instrument I play viola has the same strings as cello La, re, Sol, and do. And I love the vibrato is try to loosen ur hand a little and don't press to hard on the strings and something that can make it better is maybe put ur fingers up the ones ur not using for vibrato and start slow and then get faster. One more thing is if u wanna play faster, move ur wrist and keep ur fingers over the finger board and sometimes show action but overall it's great! Keep up the great work!
I still wonder how cellists move their hands faster than light when they shift. I’ve been sitting next to the cello sections for 3 years because I’m always in 3rd violins/ violas. And every time I look their way, I see their hands moving up and down and back up faster than light 😥
The sun sets, the sun rises, we grow older, and the infant becomes a greater Cello player whose playing is full of praise and emotion. From Tokyo where young leaves are fragrant
If I ever end up with a child of my own, the moment they speak their first word is the moment I’m getting them an instrument (around 1-3 years of age I believe?). Must learn young! :)
