My father and his brother had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the Mexican celebrities that came to do presentations at the million dollar theatre, back in the 50's and early 60's. One of the most famous was Pedro Infante which he did his last presentation there in 1955. My uncle told me that Pedro Infante was a very humble and easy going man in reality as he was in his movies. Please comment
Campa Arthur In the 1950s my fathers mariachi back Pedro Infante, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Antonio Aguilar and others. He and my uncles were pioneers in mariachi music starting in the late 1930s and 40s. In 1959 my father immigrated the whole family to east LA. In the early 1960s my fathers mariachi band “Mariachi Chapala” used to play concerts there on special events and my mother would get us kids all dressed up and take us to go see my dad play. Coming from Mexico, I remember the place looking like a palace out of a movie. RIP dad miss you (he’d be a 102 today)
