D3D device loss is a board error within Unreal engine. It could be anything from drivers, corrupted files, AV, unstable clockspeeds or even hardware degradation. But the most common cause within the Unreal engine community seems to be just simply poor programming on the developers part. Usually code is not properly dumping video resources when it should resulting in a memory leak.

this looks great, but it doesn't seem to work with on-board/integrated intel processors. all options were greyed out for me. will be coming back to this video when i have a different graphics card in the future!

This happened to me once i played Medieval Dynasty and it was lagging and having alot of drop frames until it crashed and gave me the massage ( d3d being lost) , the solution for me was turning the instant replay off from the geforce experience 🙃, then everything has been fine.

I have literally tried every suggestion and fix out there, nothing has worked... The UE4-ConanSandbox Game has crashed and will close Fatal error: [File:C:\B\tech_exiles\code\Engine\Source\Runtime\Windows\D3D11RHI \Private\D3D11Util.cpp] [Line: 181] Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error: 0x887A0006 - 'HUNG')

You know, when it came to MSI Afterburner i was always hesistant to use it, but after trying out DBD and crashing Multiple times in a row in like mid match, made me say fine i'll try out. After Trying it out it completely stopped crashing, im not entirely sure if this method will like degrade my GPU further or anything cuz i never underclocked or overclocked using this, supposedly even decreasing bill costs which is pagman. Well it didnt only work for DBD but for other crashy games that stood on my way. And my GPU isnt like the best, its a GTX 650 that has over a 12+ year life span at this point and its still going strong, if i had an ability to replace i would, but for now its not possible for me. And also a very large portion of games still work on this GPU, even some of the modern games so far i had played so many games that have good graphics and still run smooth on 60 FPS, and i almost 100% a very large portion of my games and nearly coming to a milestone of 100 perfect games, for instance i can Play Asseto Corsa with SOL and some aesthethics with a stable 50-60 FPS, so it can give you a good idea of how capable the GPU is, even for its age.

I tried everything, changing power cord, changing the 16pin cable, updating bios, removing onboard gfx card, updated Nvidia, change to Nvidia studio drivers, underclocking etc. etc. etc. Absolutely nothing works, so im left with a new computer which doesnt run anything, i have this problem in all games accesing the gfx card...

@Zero-bh1lv I only dropped my core clock down -10 and same with memory clock. It stopped the problem with using my oculus rift. The graphics card works hard and over heats so this just bottlenecks your graphics card. I had no differences in fos as well. Made my game stable

@@Zero-bh1lvif it still crashes at -10 just drop it more until your gpu don't crash, and no worry u can't mess anything up but going to far with the underclocking just don't overclock meaning using a (+) that will heat it up alot faster and can be stressful on your system

So i tried this out for Bless unleashed game after trying for many months with other solutions. I was able to run the game for 15mins without crashing earlier it use to crash in 2 mins. i tried to drop down the settings to -60 and -79 it crashed again in 2 mins. So am back to square 1 :(

I have a crappy Aorus X670 Elite with an RTX 4080. How do you edit the MSI stats like you did mate ? or cant i as its not MSI board? games crash after 10-30 mins.

Try something a little different. Find the game in the Steam folder vs running from steam. C:\program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common Find the actual game and create a shortcut and rum it directly, this is another way as well. I noticed steam breaks games too. Try that first, then I'll explain how to modify the options in Afterburner.

Is there anything similar to this for integrated graphics? My laptop has intel iris plus graphics, and thst means i cant use msi afterburner. Im begging for somehting to help me, ive been trying literally everything and ark just refuses to lwt mw into the game

Try running the game with the Binary and using Steam. I noticed Steam causing some issues. C:\program files(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common Built in graphics is not usually good for gaming. Sunrise it even installed.

Fixed this issue Nvidia control panel 3d settings Select the game that crashes Make it use my gpu by default instead of automatic Apply.

My 2 cents... i did this but did not help, i notice my ark crashes when my temp gets to 73 or above. Even atlow settings. No matter what i do cant stop this. So only solution was ramping my fans higher and keeping my 1080 at lower temp and i cam max out settings and smooth framerate and at mild overclock.

Let me know, I bet it does. You may have to drop it 100Mhz, but 100Mhz is nothing vs a stable game

Thank you soo much!!! i dont know if this fix is permanent but.. coming from crashing every 3-5 minutes to not crashing for the last 2 hours. You are a hero! For anyone else saying that this fix shouldnt work or doesnt work. Just try it and maybe if you have the knowledge explain why this fix works!
