was expecting 90% of these to be cringe now but a lot of them actually still hold up lol. The ones filmed in the moment are all still good while most of the skits show their age
@a_random_confused_person7703 Slazo was his friend until Alex conspired with Slazo's ex to accuse him of rape and ruin his career. There's leaked messages detailing it all. Can't believe Alex still has a platform tbh
The difference is that Vines on the homepage were hand selected whereas TikTok serves you content based on what you've already liked so it's almost impossible for everyone to know the exact same TikTok
It's also because vine had an end point and is over a decade old. If tiktok were to end and had enough time for two generations to be born then you'd have the same situation. Millennials and early zoomers have that situation with vine, younger generations don't have that with tiktok.
I can name at least 100 memorable Vines that are still quotable jokes for me today. TikTok consistently makes me laugh, but I can't think of a single TikTok that I would quote in everyday life the same way I quote a Vine. They're just totally different.
It’s his opinion though and it kind of is more advanced because it’s easier to become viral on TikTok than it was when vine was around, plus everyone pretty much saw the same vine video lmao. Vine was less toxic and weird but people only really like it because of nostalgia a lot of the time.
I love how george acts as if vine and tiktok arent LITERALLY the same thing. Dude the random equals funny shit never left you just manage to avoid most of it because of the algorithm. Both these platforms are as hilarious and also unfunny as each other, vine just has to deal with the fact its older and theres no more new content on there.
context for ‘Zac Stop’ vine: it’s shot out of order. Zac got arrested falsely cos he matched the clothing of someone the police were looking for, and his friend filmed it. Then they thought what the funniest thing he could get arrested for was, so they filmed him kicking. Then edited it together so it looked like he got arrested for kicking
09:45 - I was literally about to raise the question to George, as to whether he would rather have TikTok which has the likes of Elphaba, or Vine which was quick, concise and needed planning and execution to fit the joke in to 6 Seconds...... but Alex beat me to it
nah vine will always be funny and iconic, whilst i laugh at tiktok’s i can’t remember any of the jokes whereas i can recite all the iconic vines instantly 😂
@@ebenezer-scrooge well the popular shit yeah most of that isnt even funny but im talking about all the hidden gems like my tiktok stuff....and Instagram reels i must be on multiple lists
I feel that although there was a market of humour Vines from mainly teenagers - the bigger draw was topless boys that brought in a whole different audience lol
For me personally Arthur was my favourite person on vine. I can still go back and watch compilations of that guy from time to time and like 75% of his stuff still bangs
I feel like most people born before 1995 didn't use Vine or care about it. It was definitely seen as a fad for teens and college kids. I don't think it was as universal as a lot of people think and nowhere near as big and widely used as TikTok. It maybe just felt like it was because a lot of influential things came out of it.
Many younger people were on vine lmao, look at the Dolan Twins, Sam and Colby, Jake Webber, etc. A good amount of influencers now used vine or started their careers from it. I even had vine and I’m a 2000’s kid but it wasn’t as big as TikTok because the content was very limited and short.
I am a 25 years old woman and I still think Vine is funnier than TikTok, I laugh at TikTok videos but I don't remember any of them. Vine is something that left a print. I can still quote dozen of them to this day and evetything time I see aby of them I still have a laugh
The 'Ah fuck, I can't believe you've done this' clip WAY predates Vine, which is why it's one of the funny ones. I remember watching that in college and I'm older than James Marriott.
