"you circle me inside my room" "never wanted you inside you made it your mission" "i'll never go i'll haunt your studio" is this song just deadass about a fly that got into their house
@@dexenationgracey1979 they'll age well like fine wine decades later. I'm positive with that. If they're a meme band, that means the meme is already classic. People always trash what's new and don't appreciate the moment, just reminiscing yesterday like "I miss the Beatles! Lil Uzi sucks!" without imagining current stuff being valuable in the future. I hate that attitude most people have. They just can't see the tip of their nose. 100 gecs are talented.
@@AA-rc8sm I think you're being overly generous about their longevity, meme bands don't really last that long and are forgotten about once the meme loses its novelty. The general public will forget about them in about five years unless they write something that's genuinely memorable and not just a flash in the pan song like they have been so far.
@@dexenationgracey1979 they are more serious as music. It might sound like a piece of shit by old standards but its gonna grow on people and their elements are gonna become more ubiquitous later.
A man with a green face paint chase a human like fly with tons of goggle eyes with a huge dagger by a mattress in a dirty room with a 90’s computer set up
So basically the lore is that this alien redditor hates himself so a giant humanoid fly enters his house, they play chess and then the redditor grabs a big sword and kills the fly, the fly revives and destroys his computer. Makes sense.
No. This is a song representing societal classism. The fly is one considered "lower class" or a marginalized person. When constantly abused by those in power, the "fly" decides to rebel, showing the theme of social rebellion. The fly decides to destroy the computer instead of the "rich and powerful" person; the fly must have a sense of morality. The fly wants to get rid of the classism but not the rich people themselves. "Destroy the system, not the rich."
Music videos aren’t always what the song is about. For example, Build God Then We’ll Talk by Panic! at the Disco tells the story of a prostitute and an unplanned pregnancy. The music video? A sex mime who’s girlfriend mimes cheating on him.
Holy actual shit. This video combined with the Pitchfork interview shines a completely new light on this song. It's a heartbreaking narrative. A battle between a man, and a pest. We get to see and feel the intention and perspective of either side. A beautiful tragedy. Plus it fuckin slaps.
Here are the lyrics! I was trying to find a way to kill time I didn't even get to tell you goodbye I was trying to find a way to kill time Now you're gone and I can't ever say goodbye This feeling's going to my head I'm thinking things I shouldn't say You circled me inside my room I couldn't go another day This feeling's going to my head I'm thinking things I shouldn't say You circled me inside my room I couldn't go, go, go, go Oh my God, what the fuck Take my hand, crush it up Spill the blood on the floor I ain't scared, think there's more What the fuck, make it stop Took too long, here right now On the floor, in the yard Smoking cigs in the bar I don't want you to think I got bad intentions Never wanted you inside You made it your mission, yeah (Yeah) Didn't wanna hurt no one (No one) But you just went and made it fun, fun, fun, fun Hear you're lookin' for a way to fight the Corpus bride She's workin' in my mind And you're lookin' for a way to crush, it's not enough You fucked up your last try, last try We were in the studio I was just playin' You were all work and I was all play and You were talkin' business Aiming with your weapon I was on your hit list I felt the compression I'll never go I'll haunt your studio You won't think of words When you write it up You'll just hear Me singing this song You'll think that's okay You'll just sing along You just copy everything we do If I wasn't me, I'd copy me too You just copy everything we do If I wasn't me, I'd copy me too
As a kid my best friend's bedroom looked almost identical to this. Found a slice of pizza behind his desk once. Place smelled exactly like this room looks
1000 gecs is such a good album and i love every song on it unironically but this is truly The Song Of All Time off of it (imo). i like to joke about getting exorcised in the club to the drop in this
I appreciate that the RU-vid version is harder than the album version. Well played gecs. This song made my 13 year old daughter feel better about being different, she often says “if I wasn’t me I’d copy me too”. A lot of boys at her school copy her, it’s actually sickening how some of the parents don’t understand their children.

@@jasonhamm7174 Gen Z keeps forgetting that a lot of music and humor they like comes from millennials. I love Gen Z, but I'm confused as to whether they think we're super old or something.
I think this is the story of the song 100 gecs is trying to tell: It's literally a post-ironic song about a man and a fly Some person was so bored in his own home until the fly showed up. The same fly from the bar, and in his car. The fly only wanted to say hi to the guy, but the guy is preoccupied with trying to distract himself from the fly that was bothering him. Eventually when the annoying fly got on his nerves, he snapped and pulled out a mallet (in the music video it is a large sword) and tries to swat the fly. The fly gets cocky and teases the man to try to hit him, but eventually the man succeeds and now the fly is scared The fly and the man seem to be able to have a communication with each other mid-chorus in the song. Exchanging lines like: "I don't want you to think I got bad intentions." "Never wanted you inside, you made it your mission." The man and the fly have an egregious chase with each other, while the fly is on the constant verge of having his life thrown away from the man and his weapon. This music video exactly exaggerates how far a man would go to go after a fly and kill it when it were to bother him. Unfortunately for the fly, the man reacts fast and ultimately kills the fly. The man can finally do his stuff in peace, after he annihilated the fly from his disturbance. But once he thinks the fly is gone, he comes back to annoy him again, and the situation becomes a cycle of discovering the fly, killing it, and the fly coming back to irritate the man once more. Hey. That's just my guess. But it lines up so perfectly I think it's hard to say I'm wrong.
