so i guess the trick you did in the beginning is: 1) have a special order of cards (6 of diamonds on the top, jack of spades the second and another 6 of diamonds being third card in a deck). 2) flip 2 top cards, make a spectator see a jack of spades, flip them again. take away top card (6 of diamonds) and place it under the deck. flip top 2 cards (now you flip jack of spades and 6 of diamonds so the spectator sees 6 of spades which became the second top card), flip them again. take a top card (jack of spades) and wave it over the deck. Grand reveal. Really cool trick, will try to master it. Thanks a lot)

The first two tricks are all sleight of hand tricks, where he makes 2 cards look like 1 card. An example of this is where he says he takes a card from the middle of the deck, but its really 2 cards, and puts them on the top, he then takes the "right card" from the top and puts it in the middle, when really the right card is now the top card. As for finding the random cards in the middle, I am not sure how he does that. But it is important to remember he has full control of the variables (camera angle, editing, "random" card picking -he could just record random.org until he gets the card he wants). Sorry if it ruins the magic.
