French is a very curious language that sits in the fence of anglo and romance. I speak both english and spanish and french words sound either very similar to english or very similar to spanish.
It’s because the Normans conquered the country 9 and a half centuries ago. The government and the nobility spoke French over the next three centuries. The peasants, much of the bourgeoisie, and lesser clergy remained native English speakers, about three quarters of the pot

The lessons with Alexa is really inspiring. Most difficult part in learning of new language is to find motivation to work without teacher, to stay disciplined and stay focused, with Alexa everything is simple! Good job!
A lot of these aren't too bad. I think some of them are easier than others as they are fairly similar to English and Spanish. But yes, like someone said, conjugating them is a whole, different story...
I like to use mnemonics and word association tricks to memorise words. E.g. 'donner' souns like 'donner kebab' - so think 'GIVE me a donner kebab'. And there you have it, an easily-memorised verb that you'll be able to actively recall. A couple more examples: ficher (to file) - think of a file being placed in a fish tank; Pedre (to lose/waste) - think of a pardre losing his wallet.
My daughter now is studying pharmacy at University of Health Sciences in foundation year in Cambodia . She's facing the problem of French language because she didn't learn it before. Thank you very much for your teaching.

Alexa, you are a very good teacher, perhaps the best. I am trying to learn French and I always remember you. Thank you so much for doing all of this for us!!!
A Really useful way to learn the beautiful language of France. I think like most people i know a good few of them, but it's a really good/nice way to get to know the rest. I leave you on in the background and go about my day, i'm a very slow learner so repetition is the key. Like most most people here, i am eternally grateful for the effort thought you put into your lessons. So a very big THANK YOU from an Englishman living in France. Good Luck and Keep e'm coming. Bisous.
Thanks God you're not my teacher in real life, I couldn't resist to tell you how much I love your lessons and how nice you are. Many greetings from Vienna ;-)
You have such a great channel. I'm happy that you've made this. I admire your persistence. You are very helpful. I try to translate: Vous avez une bonne chaîne. Je suis heureux que vous ayez fait ce. J'admire votre persévérance. Vous m'aidez beaucoup.

Merci. c'était utile. Je connaissais déjà beaucoup de ces verbes, mais j'apprends quand même de nouveaux verbes et c'était aussi une bonne critique pour moi-même.
