Loved the repair video of this watch and I am glad to see you did a review video as well. The story, and the watch, are amazing...and the repair journey it took you on was quite the adventure. I'm sure, once it was all over and on your wrist, you enjoyed it as much as we did,

The watch was worth all the effort put into it ! Keep up the great content. I also have a Coventry pocket watch that was my Grandfather’s that I would love someone to service, look at. But after being charged £500 pounds and nearly a year later from the last watch repair shop near me. I’m stuck as to where and who! As it took a while to even get him to work on it after he received it from me, then had to chase constantly to get it back. I knew the cost of the work done would be more than the value of the watch it’s self but it’s priceless to me. Keep safe and smile buddy

What a super review Mike. A lovely story and I remember the trials and tribulations you had from your video. Especially the removal of the sheared thread from the balance wheel. It is a lovely watch to look at and looks good on your wrist. Excellent.👍

I love the style of these 20s watches. I inherited a 1926 Longines which is very similar apart from being 9 carat gold. The crown on mine is certainly smaller than yours. I wore the watch from about 1982 to 1996. Over time I had a few comments on it being a small watch, but in the end it was diving into a pool wearing it that caused me to swap. I took the back off and left it in the sun so there was no rust, and got it serviced, but I decided it was too small and bought a 36mm Datejust with a screw down crown. Recently, I bought the Baltany 1921 you reviewed as I love the old dial and case design in a more modern size. Sorry to go on so much, but your watch brought it all back. Thanks 👍. Duncan

Nice story. I never swim with watches! well actually my holiday in 2023 I swam with my SteelDive Willard for the first time ever... The Baltany Oyster 1923 is superb watch.

@@mywatchreviews It was the last day of a holiday and I had been wearing a Casio by the pool, but swapped watches to go home, dived in and then saw gold glinting on my wrist under water 😮 never again!

Glad to see the review of this beauty(and the inclusion of the pocketwatch). 🙂 The first wristlets for men tended to be a little larger at 35mm, which was about the average size for most of the 20th century. They went tiny for some reason in the 1920's and 30's. \ Similar happened later on when quartz came along. The first quartz of the 1970's tended to be 35mm plus, maybe because the new fangled movements were larger than mechanicals of the period? By the 80's when they could produce much smaller movements quartz analogue watches went down in size under 35mmm again(digitals got bigger to house extra features). I remember my dad(who gave me the watch bug) commenting and admiring smaller thinner watches as being examples of skill in reducing the size while keeping the accuracy, so _maybe_ that was a part of it too? My two smallest watches are my dad's 80's Longines VHP quartz and a 40's Alpina, both 32mm iirc. I have to say they're very comfortable too wear, don't bang into things and you forget you're wearing them.

Thanks for your comment and facts. I will wear anything I like, I have 30mm watches and 44mm ones! its all on the day and what is either to hand or what I fancy. A nice position to be in really. Yes thin watches are nice. There are a few Seikos from the early quartz era I am after due to their thinness. Despite being quartz they were mainly metal movements. a far cry from the ones of today.

A beautiful watch and well worth posting a follow up review. On a different subject, have you ever done a video on your current filming and editing setup? The quality of the videos seem to be getting better and better.

Thanks. No I get asked this many time, usually by other channels or wannabes. Thing is I have heavily invested in cameras that can capture 4k and then when editing you can crop the image significantly. If a watch stripdown and rebuild takes 2 hours you can guarantee the edit will take 10-12 hours easily. If I use 3 cameras its even longer. Every part and screw is carefully considered , that is the same for this channel. My reviews I take all outside shots first usually much more than I need. Then some closeup. The microscope stuff (may get even better soon with new kit on the way) The "free" watch that can be supplied if sold can then make some income as the videos don't! This Omega video has earned so far £1.20!

Beautiful job. Your patience really paid off. I bought a similar sized old Omega trench watch (like) dial on eBay recently. The enamel is chipped and still has some patchy radium on it which I think gives it a nice storied patina. I think I'll clean it with some Rodico to remove any dirt and flakey bits but I want to leave as much of the old radium on as possible. Should I worry about it being hazardous or is that over hyped? I thought I would wear an COVID mask while I clean it to make sure I don't breathe any in. I saw a video of someone else doing something similar with a glove box and Geiger counter but that seems a bit dramatic.

It's not just a great watch but also a great story. It was so surprising to see an old Hungarian passport issued by the Kingdom of Hungary.
