My new neighbour cut down several large gums which were over 70yrso. Her reason as told by her is "I don't like the leaves". My thought is, why didn't you buy a block without trees then. These blocks are 1/4 acres. The other side keep asking if they can come into my yard and cut the top of my twin forked iron bark so they can build a house closer to the fence. The lopers already killed my 70 foot gum when they were supposedly just trimming off branches on the neighbours side. They already have a home and are planning to develop the block. They cut down trees over 100yrso in their yard, which kolas would come to. To me trees are the lungs of the earth. Poisoning a tree is evil.

What is it that people don't understand. We NEED trees to live and breath and survive on this planet. Isn't it taught to kids around the world that oxygen comes from trees? How do people forget this by the time they become adults? It should be ingrained into our brains as part of our need for survival. I'm so sick of how destructive the human race is. Thank you guys for sharing. 👍

I bought my house because of the three 60 year old black walnut tree's, in the side yard. One of my first neighbors told me I needed to get rid of these magnificent tree's because they are old. I think I said something like h*ll no are you nuts. My other neighbor comes over to pick up black walnuts every year. Then she sends over some of her delicious black walnut fudge. Blessings and may your tree's live long.

That Walnut tree being 100 years old, I’m sure was there long before any of the surrounding homes were built. I could understand neighbors being upset if the tree was planted afterwards, but when you buy a house you need to look at the surrounding landscapes of the other yards first. Poisoning an old tree like that is absolutely criminal in my opinion. I am a tree lover, but when we were looking at buying a house, we really liked this one house, but neighbors on both sides had tall pine trees that were so close, it posed a safety hazard to the house we were looking to buy. So, we bought another home where we didn’t have to depend on a neighbor to trim their trees up. We have trees in our own yard that we control and they don’t endanger our house or our neighbors houses.

Criminal to poison anything on your neighbor's property. That said, as a former landscaper I can say not all trees are for all places. Black walnut in particular can ruin the soil for a long distance off for other landscaping and vegetable gardens. They can cause sticky stains on vehicles and concrete as well. Think before you plant trees. Think before putting them too close to structures, sewer pipelines and houses. Consider the potential shape, size and growing habit of the individual species.

I feel bad for the tree, but i am thinking for other neighbors. The wind will blow thousand leaves to neighbors and they have to clean it daily. Its roots also damage plumming and gas/electrical lines. Trees are beautiful but if it is in a wrong place, they could be a night mare for neighbors. The yard is too small for this giant tree. You have to do soil test to prove it is poisoned. Some poison are very toxic for human and animals. It stays in soil for ever. The fruit trees around it got poison too. Do not eat their fruits.

This 100-year old tree probably was the original one planted years ago and lived peacefully in miles and miles of acreage until developments were sold to new people to build their new houses. Most likely a beautiful place 100 years ago until the 1950s. Sadly, some neighbors do not communicate to their fence line neighbors that they have a problem. Again, sadly, this neighbor who poisoned this 100-year walnut tree probably purchased his/her property next to this tree knowing that this monument-of-a-tree existed on their fence line. It is a grave fault to have poisoned this tree or any living thing. I do not know the details, and celebrate that "Lawn Men" did a safe and fabulous job of downing the tree. As shown in the video, they protected fencing, removed the tree house, and dealt with nails during their work. Thank you for your excellent work. An fan from Northern California

Does anyone know the value of this wood? I don’t know if it’s a black walnut tree. Could the neighbor be held liable for value? We had to cut down a nearly 100 year old beautiful Cedar... it lost some big branches in a storm and was in danger to fall towards the road. We needed an official permission to do so! By cutting it we found out that it started to rot from the inside. We gave away ALL the wood to people who wanted it and only kept the leftover branches as firewood. My whole basement is smelling so good! Every time I pass the stump of that tree I say thank you...😊

The neighbor should be held accountable in a court of law with heavy fine and jail time. I wonder what was their problem with the tree that they felt it had to come down. Just my opinion is that it should be a world-wide law against cutting down a tree just because you don't like it. These magnificent trees were placed here on earth for a reason: 1) to cut down carbon and purify the air, 2) to provide shelter and food for Gods fur babies, and 3) to add beauty to our world. My neighbor got with my husband and had our huge pecan cut down. He said it had been struck by lightning and was rotten at the core. It had to be over a 100 years old. When it was cut down it was solid as a rock.

We had to cut down the native black walnut I planted many decades ago. The juglone it produces is toxic to a lot of plants in its vicinity, even the grass wasn’t growing around it and when the roots reached the vegetable garden, it killed my veggies. I tried planting tolerant plants near there but, no luck. Was sad to see it go but, it was killing the rest of the vegetation around it and the walnuts were mostly enjoyed by the wildlife who always beat me at picking them off! It was a hard choice…

Trees can survive wast quantities of nails whit out even being effected by them. There are some kinds of nails however, that can and will kill a tree rapidly. Not gonna say what since some effers would use that knowledge to cause harm. But then, there is also other ways to kill of trees. Chemicals, minerales, deliberate damage to certain parts of the tree. certain damage to trees ect. They just said Poisioned, and that could mean many different things in this context, so it might not nessesarly be the nails in the tree.

They should be reminded of their stupidest idea for a very, very long time. Furthermore, even the dead tree serves as habitat for loads of species/ insects. e.g. the rare Blue woodsaw bee!

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 The Neighbours who did this but what I fail to understand is when? Given that the top of the tree was lopped out by the owner, and all branches of the tree were fully contained within their lot How did they get access to the tree to poison it. As all the other shrubbery round the tree and adjoining property were lush and green. I reckon the the cubby houses stopped water absorbing to the trees roots , and drought have killed it off over time.

Replace it with a walnut tree get the biggest one you can find and take them to court and make them pay for every penny you spent and the cost to replace the tree, remove the tree and the cost to rebuild the play house . Every single thing you need to replace that was destroyed to get the tree out of the ground and the roots removed so you could replace the tree.

In portland OR in 1978 a tree was killed by methyl bromide - the owners had the tree cut down and a 24 foot replacement planted near the same spot. The neighbors (that killed the tree) tried to stop the re-planting - even filing a lawsuit. They were met with a $40k lawsuit lost and as their only asset was the house they lost it. However it took 2 years to get to trial. They claimed the MB was to kill moles and didn't know it would kill the tree. However as they had written a letter to the neighbors 6 months earlier telling them to remove the tree or they would sue the Jury didn't believe them.

They should have criminal proceedings against them and pay for the replacement of an estimated value, probably in excess of £50,000...

there is a law protecting the ancient walnut trees, depending on the state...find out if those trees were or are protected and if you have proo f that the neighbors killed the tree with ill intention then call the authorities...jail time please.

We don't need a walnut tree in town I've put up with one next door for 63 years besides the mess and stain on my sidewalk the squirrels ate the walnuts on my tree. We had to have my 30 year old river birch cut down

Once a tree is dead and dying it becomes a hazard and a huge liability. What one has to do is get a written statement from a certified arborist, notify the property owner of the hazard, and file a injunction with the court to remove the hazard. The property owner, knowing the hazard existed and refused to remedy will be fully responsible for civil and criminal damages for injury, death, and property damages as a result of their negligence.

Surely the tree has been there longer than the person responsible for killing it. There should be a law to protect these trees from people whose brain is way deep their ass. That person should be liable for killing the tree.

If the tree was on your property and they poisoned it, then you should sue them. Not to mention in some places the act of poisoning a tree is a crime, where I am in the world its a $200,000 fine

Neighbours. Some are great, some a pain, but the worst is the backstabber. All smiles at front, poisoning plants on the sly. Police often say its a civil matter unless video proof or multiple witnesses.

Wait until night or homeowners have gone out for the day, hop the fence and tap a couple of copper nails into the trunk at the base of the tree. Common complaint in tree law cases, he showed the nails at the beginning of the video.

I purchased a nice home in North Carolina and in between signing the deal and settling the deal (abouit 30 days), the next door neighbor hired a tree company to come in and cut down a huge 58 inches in diameter) tree in the back yard near the property line but clearly well on my side. When I confronted them they admitted to doing it and said they didn't like the tree because it dropped leaves on their side. I called police and they ticketed the woman. It's against the law to encroach like that in NC but nothing ever came of it. I should have sued but didn't have much money and had other priorities at the time.

It seems to me that there are law's preventing busy bodies like that. If it can be proven that the neighbors are guilty it seems like they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! Furthermore if convicted, they should be liable for the full cost of the tree removal and any other damages!
