I lived so close to the Boardwalk, 4 blocks away, 5 houses down from West Cliff Drive. I rode the Big Dipper over a hundred times, learned to swim in the Plunge, and knew all the rides from one end to the other! I will remember that good time forever.
What a great post! I spent summers at the boardwalk in the 50s and 60s. So informative. I remember the Funhouse like it was yesterday. Thankyou for this real gem.
I had that Coconut Grove sign ,l didn't know what to do with it,l tried to sell it but no one was interested, l crushed it and sold it for scrap.l lived just across the river and in the summer would go to sleep to the sound of the giant dippers wheels and screams
