julia watching on mobile is harder when it comes get to watching videos like this :/ You need to double tap the screen to pause to read it. On a computer you can just press space :(
I love the mix and match. Doing that for my own wedding because everyone is a different size. What looks good on someone petite and slim may not be the same on taller, curvier bodies. And, vice versa.
NerdWriterGirl1984 my mother was so against it but it was so beautiful in the end! We had a fall wedding so I put each girl in a different fall color that they would look best in and told them to pick a dress with that color that make them feel beautiful. Everyone talked about how amazing it looked coming down the aisle
Ashley Blanchard Love it! I know those Say Yes bridezillas want to outshine the world but your bridesmaids are the ones who have been with you through everything and they deserve to feel gorgeous, too.
Apparently I was ahead of my time. I got married in '04 and other than a color scheme as a guideline (fall colors for an october wedding) I let my bridesmaids pick out their own dresses. They looked lovely in orange, gold, bronze, and maroon.
Disney Fan I'm not sure about prom specifically, but the formal dance/ball has been a teen right of passage for much longer than 100 years. Debutante balls, cotillions, etc.
On strapless dresses in the 2000's : '' the look was solidified by films like my big fat greek wedding''. There was not one dress in the movie that was strapless. The bride wore sleeves and the bridesmaids wore (ugly 80's style) halter dresses
this is so on point! I was a junior bridesmaid in my aunt's wedding in 1998 and wore a very similar nineties dress in sky blue. When I was a bridesmaid in 2010 we all wore matching strapless cocktail dresses. The last wedding I attended in 2015, we all wore different dresses that we were able to choose, but all in the same plum color. You can really see the trends change with the decade. I wonder what'll be next.
I love the 40s pale pink! With the flowers in the hair too it looks so sweet. All the models kind of fit with the era they represented too haha. 40s and 50s were my favorites.
They always do late 80's for these things, there were a lot of great looks in the 80's, the early 80's were a super romantic time, my mom's bridesmaids had really pretty off the shoulder lace dresses in pale pink in 1983.
YES I love the 2010s style. My aunt just got married and I was a bridesmaid. She had us all in the same color, but we got to choose our dresses as long as they had a lace bodice and the same skirt. It was the perfect way to separate each person, but to keep it looking clean.
This is exactly why when I get married, I'm going to give my bridesmaids (or bridesmen, for that matter) the wedding colours and let them choose an outfit that corresponds with those colours.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the 40's one (especially the pale pink and blue dresses)!!!! And goodness the 90's one was worse than the 80's one for the first time ever. I mean, seriously, was she going to a wedding or a business meeting!?
Could you slow down the text, because oh my god I can't even read two words and the text is already gone! I'm a fast reader but it wasn't working at all with this video... 😅 Kind of annoying to be honest.
Totally true about the 1960’s. That basically the same get up as the girls wore to my grandma and grandpas wedding in 1968. Veil included. Except her girls wore pink. How cool!
I actually prefer the 1940s and 50s, although the 20s and 30s were pretty cool. The 60s - Meh, the 70s-No Thank you! The 80s- Oh my God! My sisters had prom dresses that looked like that and those huge clip on bows! The 90s was more streamline and the 2000's and 2010's really aren't that different.
@Imani M Speaking as one who was a high schooler in the 70's, you're entirely right!! For one thing, if you had anything even remotely like a woman's figure, you couldn't find clothes, and the colors were mostly neutrals, boooorrrriiinnggg!! That's why I loved the 80's!! I felt as if I had broken out of a fashion prison!!😊😊✝️⚜️
@@CroixdeLorraine There was a lot of brown, grey and beige then. But now there's too much black even in the summer so it's like winter all year round. Black wasn't acceptable for women in the 70's and just a little in the 80's but only in winter.
wtf i'm so obsessed with the 50s dress and also the blue 40s dress as well as the sheer cream 40s dress and also I NEED THE 30s DRESS. and not gonna lie the 80s look is giving me life
My bridesmaids had the same exact color dresses (deep burgundy) but they got to choose their own style that they felt most comfortable in. It was a win for them and me :)
A lot of these were based off of movies or film stars. But all the movies with weddings I've seen all just wear long white dresses and a veil. ;-; TV programmes as well tbh
