Fun fact super Mario 64 was not the first time charles martinet voiced Mario.. he’s dated back to a pinball game from 1992 where he voiced Mario. He exclusively became the vg voice in 1996
Fun fact: In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, if you get results on a cup in 150cc which is a better record than 50cc and 100cc, those results will transfer over to there as well. Example: If you do the Mushroom Cup in 150cc and get 3 stars it'll change it to 3 stars for the 50cc and 100cc versions as well.
25:33 While someone might do that, the opponent would have to be paying little to no attention to fall for this trick with the types given as an example, considering, as you just said, it also changes color. so this would only really work with an Arceus-Steel named Arceus-Flying
Here’s another fun fact: In Smash Bros 64, Fox’s alternative costumes were supposed to be his teammates: Peppy, Slippy and Falco. It got ultimately cut for some reason. Unfortunately, only Falco became playable. However, Peppy and Slippy appear in the secret discussions Fox and Falco can activate it.
Actually Zelda is in Majora's Mask in the form of a flashback teaching you the song of time, so yeah, link's awakening is the only one without her. If you're thinking about "what about the oracles games?" Well she's in the game+ versions of each games and she's also mentioned by NPCs in the same games and in the pictures of the endings
Great Video! I wish with the more long form content that the switch sound wasn’t as jarring. I would watch this a million times over if I could just leave it on while trying to sleep.
I think Kirby was the only one not hit by the beam because he was the best character to use in the original games story because he could fly amongst other things. just imo.
2:09:40 That's an outfit from the Squid Girl manga and anime, not from a Splatoon manga or anime. In fact, it's completely unrelated to Splatoon, it was made 7 years before splatoon released
28:08 Fun fact: The first Mario game where Charles Martinet voices Mario was actually Mario Teaches Typing, but I wont blame you because 64 was the first mainline game with voice acting
1:47:49 the "Bros" in "New Super Luigi U" is also dropped because Mario and Luigi are brothers and thus share a family name, which is Mario. So as it is a Luigi stand-alone without Mario, the doesn't have boh of the Mario Brothers
“That’s a cool image but that banana seems bland…. Give it a face!” “Ah but what’s a human doing with a banana. Wait monkeys like bananas right? We should add Donkey Kong in this game!” “Wait but donkey Kong doesn’t have enough characters in his franchise… OK let’s add 7 characters from the Mario games to even the roster!”
11:12 A sugar shack is a name for a shack where maple syrup or maple sugar is made from sugar maple sap. They’re commonly found in Quebec (checks out), Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and New York.
11:09 A sugar shack is a small wooden shack in the woods used to make maple syrup the old way. IDK if it's just me being Canadian but this is common knowledge, no?
Actually, Kirby is white on the Dreamland US box art because Sakurai wanted him to be pink, but Miyamoto wanted him to be yellow. This was an ongoing argument at the time of the game’s US release, so the localization team just said “screw it, he’s white in the game,” and there ya go. Also neat reference to Miyamoto’s preferred color in many multiplayer modes that feature multiple Kirby’s, like Dream Course and famously Smash Bros.
I'm still amazed/impressed with Mario Kart DS. Every time I get a new phone, it's always the first rom that I d-load. Been doing that for the last 10+ years.
I watched the video and there were a few times where I was like, "No?? That's just not correct?" But it wasn't anything huge, just like a few game mixups and such, especially in the animal crossing section
1:38:01 A huge majority of Gameboy color games worked on the original gameboy, 63 titles being "only for Gameboy color", so about 93% of gameboy color games were fully compatible with the original gameboy, every single black cart game (This does include cartridges like Pokemon gold/silver/crystal, as although they are not black, they are "black cartridges") due to the huge amount of people with a gameboy. Kirby was not the only game that displayed a message like that on screen when attempting to play on the original gameboy, many, MANY clear cartridge games had unique error messages when attempting to play them on the original gameboy, and before you say "you couldn't because notch", the gameboy pocket, the gameboy light, these could all fit the cartridges. There only seems to be around 63 gameboy color only games (unless records are incomplete) out of the 917 games, yeah that's a huge amount of gbc games that worked on the original gameboy. So to be completely technical about it, the majority of gameboy color games had a notch in them allowing them to be played on the original gameboy, people just didn't know these games were actually "enhanced for gbc" games as the packaging was far from clear about this in every way, and beyond that Kirby wasn't the only game that displayed an error message when attempting to play on the original gb if you include clear cart "gameboy color only" games. I'm not just being pedantic, I just don't think many people even know about that to this day. I mean I feel like Nintendo made them work on original gameboy just to seem like they were doing something, but never properly saying it and the packaging made people who wanted to buy new games have to buy a gameboy color either way. Sneaky, a bit scummy, smart and also kind of weird.
Now about 3D all stars being pulled from stores at the end of March is a bit of a misconception. Yes they wanted that to happen, but at certain Walmarts you could still find physical copies of the game until about August or September depending on which location you went to
I like that nintendo removed the drinking animation from both Peach and Bowser. As funny as it is that their both drinkers like that, they could have only removed it from Peach to villianize drinking, but they kept it neutral, which is always the best move. Makes me wish people parented better so the burden of influence didnt fall so heavily on companies and people with influence so they could ha e more fun with their creativity.
8:38 I know this was probably filler but you coulda atleast pointed out the reason why it has "64" after Mario Kart. 😭 Can't really change it now but man, that made me chuckle.
1:30:45 thats not concept art for meta knight, that's morpho knight which is a completely different character (and was not cut) Simply put hes basically galacta knight sorta fused with the butterfly The butterfly first appeared in return to dream land but butterflies have been a thing all throughout kirby, since the first game actually He was originally planned to appear in the cancelled gamecube game which became rtdl (which might be why the butterfly first appeared there) but instead appeared in star allies years later
"If you dash in Brawl there's a 1% chance you trip"...just 1%? I doubt this, you won't believe how often this shit happened to me in online games (my favourite: I tripped directly in a Falcon Punch...I didn't die there, but still...)
in responce to the maple treeway thing. road to the sugar shack , is because the french make maple syrup from trees and they have a sugar shack to make it in.
This is an ambitious video, and I applaud the effort. Bear in mind, though, that there’s room for error when dispensing 1000 facts, and not every one of these is completely accurate or future-proof. I can verify, for example, that the Kirby’s Pinball Land fact is switched around; Pinball Land released years before Pokémon Pinball, with Kirby’s HAL Laboratory being credited in Pokémon Pinball. Some names are also slightly wrong, like the “GameCube Color” handheld system. I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but I encourage viewers to research their favorite facts further.
