I remember watching this video about 8 years ago and I knew I had to have a centrifugal supercharged GTO/Monaro/Lumina! I have one now and I love it so much! So much fun and such a badass car. Thank you for the inspiration from this awesome video!
roll up your windows when you drag like, all that air is pushing back at your car, great compilation though, i just got a 2004 pontiac GTO and youve inspired me to modify my goat into a beast like your lumina ss, you got major respect from me dude love the ride
+xSiiK_nO_Sc0PeZx that might be true! but Pontiac is the FIRST AND ONLY musle car of all musle cars and he can't take that from it.HE NEED TO LOVE IT. WOOOOOOOOO!!!!! AND NO MATTER WHAT HE DO TO IT,IT IS STILL A PONTIAC.
Despite all the media trashing every other countries name, making you look like the enemy. I'm glad to see the middle eastern people doing things like this. Hell, I already seen the middle eastern guys with the 2,000 horse power sand buggie, and a 2000 HP Lumina.
I don't understand why people are confused. In the middle east the Pontiac GTO was sold as the Chevy Lumina Coupe. Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO/Chevy Lumina Coupe, are all the same exact car. Just badged and sold under different names and GM subcompanies in different parts of the world.
The Monaro, LEGEND by Name, LEGEND by Reputation. I have a 2003 CV8 Monaro. Love and its for keeps. Even my12 year old Son is eyeing it out and can"t wait till he is old enough to drive it.......Lucky little Shit.......
Mine has a manual transmission (2005 pontiac gto) with the ripshifter and it's great. If you DON'T want to upgrade the shifter, then go for the automatic...the stock manual transmission shifter is absolute TRASH. Such a long throw, stock, very squishy-feeling. With the upgraded shifter, it's very mechanical-feeling with exceptionally short throw. Amazing car and video, thanks so much for sharing the story. :)
Oh man I have an 04 GTO M6 and definitely agree the stock shifter is absolutely horrendous! It was so sloppy and loose when you were shifting and it took some of the enjoyment out of it. I finally had enough and changed mine out for a JHP Rip Shifter and it was completely different. I was amazed at how much better it feels to shift now and it's way more enjoyable. It's really tight and has a short throw, I get what you mean by the mechanical-feeling but in a good way. It took a little getting used to because of how much of a difference it makes but definitely worth changing.. At first I was worried because the factory shifter looks completely different than the short shifters, but it went in just fine. I did have to drop the trans a few inches to get to the bolts but worth it for sure..
Don't bother with ignorant critics. Real car guys would know that GM markets the same cars under different names in different countries. GTO, Lumina, Monaro. I didn't see that you did any mods to the transmission. Is that stock unit still holding up, or have you re-enforced it? Are you still using the stock two piece drive shaft and 8" diff? Awesome build, and great video!
@hoverpirate Designed and made in Australia. Some Indian company now owns Land Rover, but they don't have an influence on their design philosophy or the quality of their cars. This is not a GM through and through just because GM owns Holden.
Wow, you built an amazing car! I love watching videos from "across the pond" and seeing all the small differences between the lumina/gto/holden cars. Very nice video as well. Thanks for sharing.
WHAT ARE THE SONGS CALLED??? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REPLY I LOVE IT!!! This car is an absolute animal!!! have to love the brute sledge hammer force and raw power of the Chev V8s =D Beautiful photography at the end aswell, you have some skill my friend. Goodluck with the car, hope you keep it =)
@thane28 alright a pro charger is actually 2 different things 1. a "pro charger" is a type of super charger that is centrifugal meaning circular vortec also makes a centrifugal line. 2. pro charger is a brand of turbos so there for you are both right.
You should look up the HSV GTO body kit while you're doing mods. HSV being the tuner wing of Holden, they have an aggressive set of spoilers and side skirts that are a direct bolt-on. Also, the Luminas and Caprices from 1997-2006 share a lot of body parts. For example, you could bolt an '04 Lumina front end to your car with few modifications necessary. Look up Jamie Bolger. He'won the drift championships in Australia in a Monaro wearing a VZ ('04) Commodore front end.
This is an Australian Manufactured beast, it's built here as a Holden Monaro, then badged to suit it's American Market. In the end, it's a Chevy really, but who cares, it's sexy as, and all us rev heads love about a car, heaps of grunt with looks and all the right noises.
For all the idiots commenting. Straight from the holden commodore wiki. "A coupe version based on the Holden Monaro was also sold in the Middle East as the Chevrolet Lumina Coupe." Go to the Holden monaro and go to the third gen section, and you see this. "2003-2004 Holden V2 Monaro CV8 R Overview Also called Vauxhall Monaro Pontiac GTO Chevrolet Lumina Coupe" The holden commodore, Vauxhell Monaro, pontiac GTO, and Chevy Lumina SS from the rest of the world, are all the same car. They are built from the same platform and come from the same company which is GM. That is all.
@Vik619 In Africa and Saudi Arabia the are the CHEVROLET Lumina SS!! In Australia and Canada they are the HOLDEN Monaro! And in America they the PONTIAC GTO!! It's the same car just released and manufactured by different GM sub-companies!!
i used to drive like this guy till i broke a few valve springs and bent a few pushrods. No more redlining for me. its an expensive fix, even if i got titanium springs now.
@notluzn Usually id agree with you, i always wanna hear the car, but he has all these clips without music in his collection.. This is one of the ONLY car videos i appreciate with music, he pairs up the clips with the song nicely. Good job on the car i love it, this inspired me to buy a gto
@RatTheCliff The automatic trans in the gto's shifts faster than the manual giving you faster zero to 60 time of 0.1 seconds. It's not much so it's really just personal preference. I prefer the 6 speed but neither auto or manual trans give you a huge performance advantage.
Note Its a PONTIAC GTO. Not CHEVY lumina SS no matter how hard you want to believe it will never be. And you don't put turbos on a American car. But i will admit great dedication.
I'm surprised the automatic could handle that much. Without any final dyno sheets I won't believe 1000hp. But I've worked on a procharged 5.7L GTO. After a cam and a few other things it's over 500hp at the wheels on 8.5psi. Very interesting to drive.
@GTSumerixTV in 1990 till 1996 Chevy made the Chevrolet Lumina they brought it back in I think 06 as the Lumina SS but it was only sold over seas unless you personally shipped one over, the car is pretty much a rebadged GTO, but they also had different models of the Lumina, some Lumina's were rebadged Pontiac G8's then Pontiac decided to make a sports truck but it was only a concept before Pontiac went out so Chevy also decided to make one, It was like the Lumina sports truck or something.
its a chevy lumina SS, the middle east version of the GTO. there is also a holden monaro Australian version, and a Vauxhall Monaro, i believe is the german version?
@StudManbdk well pontiac and chevy are both owned by General Motors, and in other parts of the world, G.M. mixes and matches car brands so to say. G.M. is not the only company to do this. for example, Acura and Honda, are basically the same cars, just different logos. In the Usa, we have the Acura TSX, but in Japan, it's the Honda accord. so, for whatever country this car is in, it's under the Chevy brand (sorry i don't know the model name) Hope i made sense of this
@fairchildz because even though it looks like a turbo its belt driven which still makes it a super charger some call it a pro charger even though thats a name brand and not a type..turbo's are exhaust driven
beautiful machine, in NZ and aussie thats a Holden Monaro and thats an amazing job you've done with it mate, keep playing with it, cant wait to see how much you can squeeze out ;-)
For future reference just refer to it as a Monaro to avoid confusion, after all that is what it is. Also in my books who ever designed/assembled the car should have there badge on it, in this case that would be Holden.
@Tjtoxic69 in 1990 till 1996 Chevy made the Chevrolet Lumina they brought it back in I think 06 as the Lumina SS but it was only sold over seas unless you personally shipped one over, the car is pretty much a rebadged GTO, but they also had different models of the Lumina, some Lumina's were rebadged Pontiac G8's then Pontiac decided to make a sports truck but it was only a concept before Pontiac went out so Chevy also decided to make one, It was like the Lumina sports truck or something.
@brazzr Pay attention dude, it's a pulley driven turbocharger. But since it is pulley driven and not exhaust driven it is still a supercharger. They have become popular over the last few years because some believe that they are easier to tune and you can get more boost out of them. Yes, you can still get lag but not near as much as you would a regular exhaust driven turbo. If this were a regular roots style blower, then no he wouldn't have any lag at all. Everything is just different.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the A4 GTO/Monaro is faster than the 6spd in the 1/4 mile. Also, the Automatic is better for turbo and supercharged setups because of the taller gear ratio. I'll admit the 6spd is more fun, though.
NO. its a rebadged Holden. the gto and lumina where actually made in Australia the sold to the overseas dealerships!!! look in the manual or the vin plate. it says " MADE IN AUSTRALIA"
@ramairgto72 Holden is an integral part of GM, they build all the Holdens and they are Rear Wheel Drive, a true US car, you need to import a lot more of them, they are great cars.
Overall really nice build, I would have gotten a manual 6-spd, skipped the hood pins (unless you really needed them, CF Hood for example) and gone with some lighter wheels and perhaps even changed the rear end ratio. But still really nice.
when i was in baghdad we raided this dudes garage and he had 3 of these gto/chevyss/monaros. He's lucky they had the bowtie on them because those were the only 3 that didnt get the windows knocked out and the tires slashed.
I got a question.1 its a bad ass car, well thats a statement but what do you call it now because you put a bow tie on the front and back? does that make it a Chevy GTO now or what would you call it?
@Tjtoxic69 Because overseas it's either the CHEVY Lumina SS(Africa and/or Saudi Arabia) or the HOLDEN Manaro(Australia and/or Canada)! It's the same car, just different places.
didnt know chevy made another lumina, especially off the monaro platform, i believe the beauty line running from the upper fender down the side isnt on the gto? .... at first i thought it was a goat with chevy badges on it but alas its a freakin lumina? nice build.
i believe he imported the car from Australia, with the chevy badge (dont ask me why). Thats the holden Manaro, since the body kit is different compared to the Pontiac GTO.
about how much did it cost to throw all of those mods in? The gto is my favorite car hands down and id love to throw mods in one and take down some vettes
To say it has as good road holding as a corvette is a serious overstatement mate. The new camaro does not get near corvette numbers except for the ZL1 with corvette suspension
2strokeskill4 What you mean man? Its still a GM product with a chevy bow, where a pontiac emblem should be. The pontiac GTO is an American Icon in which the car was mod@eled after. Call it What you want but it is still a Pontiac GTO. Still a nice car no matter the name
Damn I'm a mustang guy... I should've listened to the warning at the begining lmao nice car my mustangs also an import 67 1 of 6 in the world made in venuzuela all original with factory paxton supercharger and all fun shit I love your gto my girl has a 2005 supercharged 6ltr v8
its funny all the different names there is for the pontiac gto its still a bad ass car even tho its been defaced from the true American pontiac but its still showing the american bowtie evwn tho its in a completely different part of the world it deffinetly looks better with the pontiac sign tho and saying got and why the hell would they call that a chevy lumina ss coupe? have any of you seen a chevy lumina they look nothing like the goat in the vid lol its crazy but either way that's a bad ass car
there are 3 different kinds, the euro version - chevy lumina (which this one is) the australian version - Holden Monaro, and the American version - Pontiac GTO
@gotgigaflops i know its an Australian made car, but its stil american design? dont bight my head off if im wrong haha and wasnt pontiac an Australian car company before Gm got ahold of them? im really not sure and kinda lazy to do the research about it rightnow.
