Tim, there are several companies in the central KY area that run skid loaders and forestry mulchers. How do you compete against these types of outfits? $11,000 is a significant investment for a tractor mulcher if you don't have a lot of personal use for one. I'd really like to see you discuss this in a video. Thanks and great job as always!

I seen on RU-vid one time where Claus has a version of the forestry cutter, where they took the body if their harvester, corn and hay, and it was strong enough to completely shred up trees at least 1 1/2' , that is cutting and shredding all in one process. But yes i have seen the ones where they are a dedicated skid with steel tracks and a roll cage on the back for over $100,000 used

I do similar tractor work myself. I use a heavy duty brush hog on roughly the same size trees as you shown in this video. I’ve often thought about a forestry mulcher so thanks for the video. I know you said you could spend more time mulching, but it was interesting to see the debris left is also about equal to what I’m left with when using my brush mulcher. I show that in some of my videos I’ve posted. My biggest take away was watching the grapple on the orange tractor. That grapple looks to be about perfect for my tractor company. Thanks for the great videos! 🍻 Cheers from the Bulldog

I would agree its not the optimal solution for brush grinding, but if I had a compact tractor, half the cost for a "forestry head" is nothing to scoff at. not to mention the track loader is probably twice what the tractor costs as well... Skid plates would be be something I would look into/make for your machine to ensure I didn't damage something while items are being discharged...

I think a small piece of steel might help on the brush mulcher, but I'm no expert by any means. The 360 looks to have the same setup with no chains to ease the javelin like projectiles. Curt looked like a kid in a candy store on the LX3310. Bet he's going to trade in his Kubota or get one seeing how much fun he had. Update to my initial comment: there's now an optional chain guard on Baumalight's website for the MP348/MP360 mulcher which I've spotted. Cost is roughly $900 between both models.

Thank you for another great video! Every time I watch you use the mulcher I ask myself what would be a good way to protect the underside of the tractor. I keep thinking that a deflector that slips over the draw bar or into the draw bar mount would be low enough to stay out of the 3 point links and high enough to not get caught on everything.
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 2 года назад
I think the chains on the front of the mulcher would be most effective. We have them on the larger mulcher, and they work well.
