I loved my ZX6R, rode it for 5 years put over 46K miles on it. It was a full exhaust flashed and tuned beast but I still wanted more. I think getting to a liter bike is just a natural evolution in riding. I went from Ninja 300 to ZX6R to ZX10R and I couldn’t be happier.
Myself 80's, Kawasaki only, March 19, became a 650 i. Banditateer, What a fekkin JOY. SADLY NOW A SEMI RETIRED BANDITATEER, EFFIN Banditaholic, ruined for any other bike. And I'm not even lying. Blessed to have a PhD Masters Degree, in Bandit Torque Enjoyment only, nothing technical. Yours Scott Loch. Na, Professor Bandit 650 i.B.T.E. out.
Couldn't be happier, ??, DUH !!!, ZX10 NICE, almost certain a ZX10 ???, could CURE the agony of BANDITAHOLICISM, or maybe a R1, done with top end speeds, all about the Acceleration, R1, heard 0-60, 2.5 seconds, OOOOW, very special.
@@Merked. my ZX6R was a 2016 as well, I still love that bike. I like the R1’s too if I had the money to get a second bike it would probably be that one. The seat is super wide though it doesn’t fit me well but it’s a badass bike and the sound is amazing.
I agree 100%....the 600's get you 85-90% the same performance on the street, so the whole "way too much power" argument just makes no sense. To me, someone who rides predominantly around town, is never doing a track day, just rides for enjoyment....a literbike cruises at about 2000 rpm less than a 600. It isnt so dependent that you HAVE to be in the powerband, you have enough torque you can lug the motor a bit and ride a LOT more relaxed than you would on a smaller bike. The liter bikes are MUCH more planted so they are simply more comfortable to ride. Its not like you need all that flickability on the street. THe literbikes are simply way better to be in traffic on than a 600...IMHO...granted I am a big guy and cant stand being on a small bike anyhow. I have had probably 15 literbikes over the years....my favorite ever was my RC51....I recently let my 1199R go and grabbed a Streetfighter V4S so I am getting more "relaxed" in my old age (53)
@@biggieshot2pac don't let Texas fool you, the freeways may look nice but you go into any of the major cities and it's borderline 3rd world roads. At least from my experience living in Houston previously haha
@@sunnybwoy4547 I’ve been in Germany a lot and I think that’s true. 500-750 or something is plenty enough there. It is probably still one of the best places to ride a liter bike though, here in the Netherlands it’s just stupid😅
Phenomenal starter bike! You’ll want to upgrade eventually but there’s no rush for it. You can learn a lot more on a smaller bike then you can on a bigger bike as they’re more forgiving. Ride safe as well!
If you ever get a bigger bike, try to keep the R3. There is a chance you'll miss it years down the road. A bike with a bigger engine might be faster, but it will never be nimble like the R3.
I agree completely. I’m on my 3rd bike now, been riding since 2017. I loved my 2019 zx6r, it was a nice bike, but between that and my current ecu flashed, Brock’s exhaust 2021 GSXR 1000R, I’d absolutely choose my GSXR. People that say they’re too much, I don’t understand. I’m not sure there’s even such thing as too much, unless someone has no self control. It only goes as fast as you tell it to. I love the effortless acceleration. Yeah they cost more but if too expensive then don’t buy one 🤷♂️ If I were going to be traveling a distance, especially on a fast-paced highway I’d rather be on a 1000. Not that a 600 wouldn’t be fine, but a 1000 is just more ready to quickly accelerate if you need to and hums along at speed without even stressing. The power of a liter bike is what attracted me to bikes to begin with. Either way it’s a preference thing though. To each their own ✌️
I have yet to ride a litre bike, so can’t really comment, but I don’t really see the need for a 1,000cc sports bike, especially on the streets. Mind you, I rarely ever see any freeways. My Daytona 675 is more than enough to end up in jail with. A regular 600cc sports bike does however lack the torque that is nice to have.
@@alexhuang1974 exactly! Nice bike you have…. Surprisingly my 675 is just as quick as the 899 (buddy at the track with a 899 was a little disappointed he couldn’t keep up on the straights 😂)
I loved my 600 double R …never saw the need to join the liter club…. mostly due to the toolbag rep they got because they alway complained that “600s weren’t enough” 🤣
I agree. I started on CBR600RR, then moved to zx10r. Liter bikes are too much for the street. They also burn so much fuel. That tank lasted me for a day and I was riding at low RPMs because it was a brand new bike. If I were riding my zx10 at high RPMs, the fuel wouldn't last long. It's really pointless to have a liter bike. I did sell both of my bikes, but my next one will be a 600 again and I'm not getting a liter bike anymore.
I have rarely seen this Motonosity dude do anything, but speeding in straight lines... Obviously that takes a LOT of skill (twisting the throttle), so he must be an EXPERT on the subject of what bikes are best for the street... Muricans. Yeah.
I'm on my 2nd R1 and 3rd personal 1000. Learned on my dad's 1100 street road dirt since I was little. 600's are just to small for me at 6'1" and there's times you actually need that power to save your butt. I'm 59 btw! No such thing as to old
Loved my 600s till I rode and R1. I didnt care for the heat and weight. But... the fact that it would do exactly what I wanted it to do more effortlessly than I expected, made it make sence, saying that..hypernakeds are where ts at!And where I'm off to next. They seem like the fit for "this" dad. Cant wait to see if yammi gets what I hope, not what's expected streetfighter v4. Great video!
Adding to this... unless is a bmw s1000 or rr. I dont care for the inline cylinder sound(that's just me?). It's like the honda civic sound from the late 90s early 2000s. We do have options now with hypernakeds again cant wait to see...
In my case GSX-R1000 2009 is more relaxed to ride, in the city 2 gears are used, rpms are low, but if needed tons of power. When I switch to ZX6R 2008 I feel like racing, no bottom end, high rpms, switching gears constantly. Do I need liter bike for the street? Of course no. Do I want it? Hell yeah :)
Im with you, i bought a 2015 yamaha R1 as my first bike a year ago. I had never even sat on a motorcycle before i bought it. I just loved the look and sound of it. I found it on CycleTrader, drove to Missouri with a U-Haul trailer and bought it. Taught myself how to ride in a parking lot. I wouldnt change a thing
@@jamesriordan829 I found it pretty easy Tbh, i kept it in D mode, just played around with the clutch in a small parking lot for an hour the first day, second day i moved to a bigger parking lot and starting giving it throttle, third day i was riding in the neighborhoods, fourth day i was on the streets no problem. I still haven’t taken the MSF course but plan to this summer.
Keep the R1. for some reason it feels like this bike it's on your DNA and like you said R1 always gonna have a special place in your heart and because of your channel i got myself a 2022 Yamaha R1 raven edition. All the best and good luck with your new house
I loved your 09 r1! Wish you kept it. I miss your jeep videos too. I guess I've been watching for a long time haha. My first bike was a 07 gsxr 750 and it was the perfect bike for me. I have a cruiser now for comfort as I live an hour outside of the city.
You’ve certainly convinced me over the years watching you go from the 2009 R1 with that beautiful Toce exhaust to the newer 2020 R1. In 2 months I’m buying my own 2020-21 R1. Going to try and get the Toce exhaust for that as well (not the fender mounted one obvi)
If you have a lot of money, if you have a lot of open roads, if you go to track days, if you don't care about obeying speed limits then YES I am with you, a 1000cc/Liter bike is a great daily bike. Regarding your specific point about the better sports bike for the street, I am with you, the 1000cc is better than a 600cc. I can say, the 800cc-1000cc, 3-4 cylinders, that will be better than the 600cc to maybe 750cc for the "fun" factor for the streets. I have ridden the R6 and I can only enjoy it when I am already doing go-to-jail or revoke-license speeds. 600cc bikes are not really fun on lower rpm and mid rpm rides. But in general, if someone who has limited funds, least ideal roads, does not go to track days, obeys speed limits...among other factors...then NO. A 1000cc bike, a liter bike, any bike with more than 2 cylinders, any bike above 500cc, any bike with over 50HP, any bike weighing over 200kgs...NOT a great daily rider.
@kawasaki_kid I may be wrong about this but here in Manila, the highest speed limit is 100kph and according to my research, 25HP is more than enough to get to 100kph but it will need all 6 gears in a 6-speed bike. On the other hand, say I have a KTM 790 Duke that has 105HP but it only has 2 cylinders, I will be able to reach 100kph on maybe 2nd gear alone. That will be fun because the surge of power is great... But... That is also sad because I know I still have 4 more gears and I have not maximized the rpm range yet. The only way I can really enjoy a powerful bike is to run the tracks but not everyone has the resources to do that. So yeah, on the streets, a really good screaming 3-4 cylinder engine with just enough power will be more fun because we can tickle its limits more times than what we can do with a 150HP liter bike. The ZX25R is a great sports bike for the street if the rider does not want to tickle the cops, yet still, that little Ninja is capable of go-to-jail speeds.
any big bike is inconvenient and impractical in the cities, especially in traffic. max would be a 400, and even still i'd almost always choose a scooter to go around town than a high cc bike
A good compromise for me is the Ducati Street fighter V4s. Fast,my 2021, 9.54 in the 1/4 mile, 207 horse @ the rear wheel, 415 lbs, 30-35 M.P.G., 12,000 trouble free miles in 14 months. YES, my everyday transportation. BECAUSE It's a naked, the wind wants too separate me from the bike from 150 up. Hang on for dear life!! Tops out @ 190, GPS verified. With cylinder deactivation when warmed up, idles VERY quiet. Being flat black and no 1103 cc identification on the bike, It's a sleeper. Only modification, Akra system with MAP and low restriction air filter. The V4 has a very distinctive exhaust note. Bike did not wake up till 3,500 miles. With the counter rotating crankshaft and a longer wheel base then the Panigale, wheelies are so controllable. Have a couple track days,, INCREDIBLE handling. PLEASE road test, let us know what you think.
@@xiborgh I'm 73, ridden most everything on 2 wheels, Competitive and don't like too lose. KTM another great bike but not as controllable as the Ducati. Same goes for Aprilla
Great topic. I’ve tried to come up with a good reason one is better than the other but like you said, they can pretty much do it all almost the same on the street. I think it comes down to personal preference but mostly skill. And how much you’re willing to spend if you are looking at new bikes. Most of all just have fun
In Texas, once you get out of the traffic, speed is the way to go. It was bittersweet moving here and owning a 6-spd Mustang. A lot of traffic but nice open roads in the bigger highways. Getting into bikes now and I don’t see the feasibility of even owning a 300cc bike in these highways
Had no bike, Kawasaki for 27 years, March 19, chance to get a bike, got a 05 650i. Bandit, one very careful, cautious owner, who basically ran it for 15,000 miles, turned out, my late beloved fuel inj. Bandit, was about 58, 59 times more biking joy, than in 84, my nearly new Kawasaki 750 turbo, that I couriered with ??, Countless opporchancities to kick it. Like my 85 GT750 shaft drive, would sit at a Planted 140mph, all day long. But 650i.Bandit, capable of doing over 80 mph, before the red line...in 2nd. gear, what a JOY. All about the Acceleration ,heard the 750 turbo, was the first production bike any size, to do the Standing quarter mile 10 seconds, mine did 161 mph. Much rather have a fuel inj. Bandit. Now a semi retired Banditateer, FEKKIN Banditaholic, ruined for any other bike, just have to feel Blessed, to have a PhD Masters Degree in Bandit Torque Enjoyment only, nothing technical, Professor Bandit 650i.B.T.E. out.
1000 cc bikes can be on a street but not be best at it. See with all that power on the wheel and crank you would be surprised that most if not all liter bikes are meant for track but since the market for bikes back then was pretty slim most companies agreed on making a street legal 1000cc bike even though they did not intend to in the first place.
I only like 1000cc superbikes for the street. I ride a 21 GSXR1000R right now but I'm thinking 🤔 hard about the S1000RR. Your videos about how great it is have been pushing me to find out how great it iis.
Good point . Never ever sell your r1! You'll regret it. I have a CBR 600 and r1 and will never sell either. Gonna buy a Grom next then a super moto and I'll be set .
Super Duke 1290r is a wonderful street bike. 180 horsepower/104 ft pounds torque all below 9500 rpm. Dyno charts review more horsepower than Streetfighter V4 and Kawasaki H2 to 9500 rpm. I have owned 2 in the past. One of the best V2’s around
I started on a 16 CBR300R and outgrew it in a matter of weeks and then I traded it in for a 883 sporty and outgrew that in a few months then I got my current bike which is a 2008 105th anniversary VRod but I’m thinking of selling her and getting a MT-10. The only thing I’m worried about is the fact that I’m 5’6” so it might be too tall for me
Another point in the liter bikes favor that I think you forgot to mention is that they’re of a higher quality than the smaller sport bikes, they get all the latest technology, the most aftermarket mod support, they are favored by the designers and ergo look better than the smaller sport bikes. Liter bikes being of a higher quality is what most attracts me to them as a opposed to a 600. Although there is a good high quality non liter bike is the rs660
Everything you discribed about why you like the litre bike is the exact reason why Iike hyper nakeds. You get comfortable riding position but you can definitely get in there and attack. You got plenty of torques only thing was I had to add a little screen just cuz the wind was brutal over 120 mph. But you are also right my r6 would keep right up with the litre bikes the only difference was on hwy the litre bike pulls faster and has like you said only 20 mph more. My 600 would do 160 and a litre bike 180 so not much of a difference there
Is not that is too much power for the streets is just that you dont need the top end of the liter bikes unless you do smack downs and with that being the case insurance is more than a 600 gas mileage is better it doesnt get as hot as a liter bike. Thats why lot of people go for 600s my 1st bike was a busa and now im on a 650 so is more about needs and budget i guess
Litre bikes are great on the street, because you can go relatively faster than all cars without even trying and staying low in the torque rpm range. Litre bikes just embarrass pretty much anything on the road. The problem is you need to have your wits about you, if your off your game and decide to push it, I have seen in the news many riders biting the dust. Be careful out there, although the risk is almost just as great on a 600cc, so not too much difference.
Please keep the R1!! lol. I plan on getting one ASAP. Been watching your channel for about 4 years and your the reason I bought my R6 and still have it. Love seeing your videos on every bike you ride!
I rode my friends 07 r1 few years back. That shit was HEAVY AS HELL. Few years later i Sold my zx6r, now Im torn in between getting an R1 & ZX10R. All the youtuber who had a blown engine mostly own R1. Even though they cost 3-5k more than zx10r.
i can totally see the litre bike being easier to ride.....dont have to keep revs up so high while cruising, weight and inertia help in wind.....but true where you live its wide friggen open, most places are much tighter with stoplights every 1/4 mile, tons more traffic........i am amazed how stable superbikes are at speed, 100mph and bike is rock steady, no twitchyness whatsoever...... when i raced mx 250fs were same, had to wring the piss out of it constantly where 450 was more comfy
636’s, 600’s and 650’s only because they are a little lighter and you don’t need a couple more miles per hour. I think that’s what gixxer brah said and I do have to agree but what do I know? Just starting out riding and only have a Z lmao
It’s mostly just an ego thing in my opinion. I have an R1 and Zx6r I can rip both comfortably on the streets. I prefer the 600 because I can stretch it out more than the R1. Mind you I live on an island so there’s not much room to open up liter bikes.
I can’t argue your pov. If you’re looking for a sport bike for the street, yes they are the best option. I just don’t think sport bikes are good street bikes.
I guess on the wide open roads you have, maybe your idea makes sense but where I live in WV, all that power of an R1 would be wasted. Supermoto is my bike of choice and I can't be convinced to be on anything else around here. That said, do you still have the CRF?
Anyone here have an MT-09 or 07? Trying to figure out which bike to get. I like the idea of the 09, because I’d have more power to grow into. But people say the 07 is quite a bit more nimble feeling, which would be fun.
I want an R1 specifically for when it looks and mostly the way it sounds. But you are right a 600 definitely throws you around on the highway. I haven't written a liter bike yet but I hope it's more comfortable when around semi trucks.
So I've rode a bull blast for a couple years and then I had a Yamaha vstar 650 but that has been 8 years since I've had a bike. My question is should I start back on the r1 or should I go smaller I'm 6 foot tall and 220 pounds.
I remember I wanted a new R6 coming off of 05 CBR and a 08 CBR, but I ended up buying an S1K and I don't think I want to go back to a 600cc...been riding for 7 years basically everyday of my life.
Started on a 600, never felt the need to get a 1000 until I started letting my wife backpack and then I got a 1000 for extra power for when we are 2up. Now I’ll never go back to a 600
Like you ride your r1 the way I ride my cb500f, but here I'm not going too fast (dunno about how the US is but here it would be the legal way). All in all both are having fun. I just couldn't ride like this with 200hp over here.
But if you ride semi legal, you never get to pull through even the first gear on a 1000cc. My 500 does 90kmh in 2nd, that's good enough for a backroad in Europe. And faster and I'd need to go on the Autobahn. Considering that I don't visit friends who live over 100km all too often and never need to go on the Autobahn, the 500 has been pretty fun sofar. If you need to go on the highway alot then I can see a 1000, but anything below that it doesn't really make sense to get anything more than 100hp, let alone 50hp imo. But sadly there is no cp2 500cc sportsbike, the next best thing would be the R7.
But I also watched a video of a German dude who was in Alabama, roads in the US seem to be huge af and people tend to drive not the speed limit which are already abit higher than they are here. Plus the fact that you really need to want to get pulled over in the US to get pulled over (as it seems unlike in Europe, Germany specifically) where having a car parked somewhere alone attracts the men in blue and could end up you getting your vehicle impounded the comparison and reasoning to if a 1000cc makes sense varies alot.
You will love your naked I love mine Soo much but if you can afford it keep the litre bike as well. I miss some of the aspects of my super bike. Even tho the naked is more than capable. But if I could I'll be adding another superbike to the stable again soon
