he dont need more hp, he needs more torque. hes only using something like 40 hp out of 120 hp. boat engines needs torque and displacement, bike engines is no good for that.Hes not even close to the desired RPM. the drive shaft, sterndrive and prop is also killing the fun. its a cool idea if you dont understand boats and hydro dynamics. (sorry for beeing a dick, but its facts)
You took an idea I've had for 35-40 years and did it! This is just a start for you..... Keep developing your ideas....I can see this in a larger size boat.... little more HP and an air shifter for instant shifting..... Great job! Really awesome to see this!
with all the hard work you put into it i bet that felt good to get it out into open water, it goes well with the leg, but as you have said a jet would be better, but still fun.
High powered offshore boats have multi-speed gearboxes. This boat is amazing but it needs to be propped correctly and could use a gear reduction in the outdrive to maximize the small amounts of torque while still taking advantage of the high rpm available. I remember growing up having several props for the family ski boat, some for higher speed, others to get up on step faster but lowers the top speed.
And find a hydraulic cylinder to steer the drive when you hit 55 or 60 wit the prop up you will have a hand full. Nice job. Stay safe. You have enough power to fly the boat on the prop. That’s a thrill.
@@homemade_madness I also build motorized vihecles on my own RU-vid Channel, but I am sadly pretty smal jet. I realy would appreciate, if you take a quick look, if you want to😂✌
Great build but I'd love to see it with a surface piercing drive with a little dagger rudder behind the prop. It would be much quicker without the drag of a long outdrive that's too tall for the transom of your tiny boat. Love the idea of keeping the gearbox to allow for a higher pitched prop from the off 👍
The reason for your boat wanting to porpoise/ bounce nose, is because the z drive shaft is to long, the fin above the propeller should be level with the bottom of the hull.
I would like to make something similar but with a surface drive . More efficient than a jet and can still go shallow. Nice job on the boat sounds cool!
surface would be dead easy and very cheap too... simple straight drive.. can run througha normal 2 to 1 reduction gearcase that you can get pretty cheap froma boat scrap yard, and a simple straight shaft... loads of outboard surface props could be used...
No jet drive will be much less speed.. you have better than the jet systems.. what you need to do is only use this in 6th gear so you are close to having the correct ratio going to the out-drive. now on the out-drive you are losing so much efficiency because this out-drive is meant for two propellers, it is a Volvo duo prop drive. if you get a single volvo SP drive you will get much more efficiency and better gear ratio and get much more speed and just better all round. the out-drive is supposed to recieve all the rpm of the motor. nota a geared down amount of rpm, your losing so much by using gears... you need this to be direct from crank to the out-drive.. then yo uwill see better efficiency and a lot more power as your losing atleast 10hp running through the gearbox.... also get the power trim rigged up and get a few different props. ideal for that will be the long hub 21 pitch once you go to a single lower unit on the drive. instead of the duo prop. they cost way too much for propellers and pretty hard to get. the sp drive (only need the bottom half) the props can be got much cheaper and easy to find......... great project and will end up a 60mph boat.
Awesome you are over proped so lower pitch needed probably two and sharpen that prop up. Or if that's a bit pricey then make a template and cut 1/3 from all three blades the engine will find it easier to turn the prop. Also with the alignment problem couldn't the engine be moved sideways with your bodyweight offsetting the weight?.
Man this is one of my dream builds I'd love to do one day! But for future reference, it looks like the drive is too deep in the water and creating a lot of drag.
It's called trim. Those old volvo drives don't have that feature. Even if it did it wouldn't help. The x demension are off because it's not enough freeboard on the transom to set the keel to the drives ride plate
Been a dream of mine to make a boat similar to this. Just wanted mine to be out of aluminum and jet drive since I have nothing but bayous around me in south Louisiana. Still want to be able to shift gears just like this one though. Awesome job. Glad someone thinks I'm not crazy cause you had same ideas, maybe we're just geniuses!!!
Ik heb zelf een Firestorm en mijn tank gaat al snel, en voor een paar extra paardjes kan je de snorkel van het luchtfilter halen, stationair sproeier 48 en ik zou de nok as ketting spanners vervangen voor handmatige
Maybe try a quick shifter it will make changing gear easier as you wont need to throttle off and it will also help the end because you wont be decelerating as much.
You'll get more speed if you build 2 L shaped bracket on both side of the rear. It will prolly quit bogging as bad too. Gotta get it smooth on the water
Very nice build, gears will take You nowhere. Ask a boat racer to recommend a prop for Your top gear and revs. Prop positioning is crucial, and moveable trim flaps will help alot. Happy boating!
Verder supergaaf project man!!
Can’t say I saw one but the Killswitch would be a great idea with a tether it’s a Wii rapper that is an a jet driver probably get you more top and speed cavitation I believe is your limiting factor with the propeller but there’s always room for upgrades
Aah top werk man! Vet! Mooi verfje erop met striping en al👌🏻👌🏻 Wat is de topsnelheid die je gehaald hebt? Ik weet uit ervaring dat het er altijd langzamer uit ziet dan de werkelijkheid
Can we get more details on the gear setup? The one proposed in first test episode? What is the top speed and rpm? Is it right on the max hp for that engine? Cool build! 💪💪👍
This music made me cry!!! Please tell me what it's called!!! Буду премного благодарен ;) Я почти все твои видео пересмотрел, мне - 33 года и я только познаю эту стезю, а ты - слов нет. Браво пацан!!! Скажи пожалуйста, что за мелодия играет?!!! Я в неё - влюбился!
