Tbh, only you can decide what you want in the end but... As a long time subscriber, it seems to me that you had more fun with the previous cam setup. With the new one, it looks like you have to commit balls to the wall to enjoy it. Having boost come in so late feels like its always all or nothing. Either way, doesn't matter, we will still watch your video. Thank you for showing us the aftermath, its really strange but very interesting. Hope you don't have too much trouble finding what you need to put it back on the road. Cheers!

I agree with the C8 cam you enjoy the most. But if you have to take out the engine to put the oil pan on, it would be the perfect time to do so. Really hope you get your car back up running. I noticed when I was looking on Z1 Motorsports website that you can buy a brand new transmission. Really enjoy your videos of the G.

I love the idle sound of the 272 cams and it sounds mean af. Also having the 272 will have the mid-range response would be a plus. But in the end it's your car and you should do as you please with it.

oh man sorry you blew up your shit man, at least everyone is safe, maybe get like a 1200HP rated sequential in the future or clutch only since transmissionheld pretty good. Did you blow up the motor too? Edit: its the tranny and more so the clutch not being able to handle that much torque delivery on repeated, multiple occasions so it finally went peak fatigue and broke. It was prolly good for like some pulls but obviously not repeated pulls. The tranny actually held up pretty good, the gears still look good, but i'd get a dog box or sequential by now if you have the money. Wow so lucky the damage was only to the lower oil pan on the engine, thats a total luck out could have been worse. Turbo still intact.

Keep the bigger cams. You aren’t revving the car out as far as it could go. Modify your oil pump if you have a DE (chamfer the notch, there’s a thread on this on my350z I think my build thread talked about it). Get an ati damper (helps for the oil pump and snout deflection at high rpm. Then from there make changes to your tune and fuel mix to spool harder. You can mix in methanol with ethanol gasoline blends for example no problem. Will give you more spool ability. After that you can change lower plenum… the original DE plenum has the longest runners so that will help mid torque. Then if you still aren’t happy check out a spool valve. Or even resize your turbine housing and or turbo all together. I don’t even know what turbo is in there. I’d guess a 6466 based on it being a boosted performance type kit. You also can play with the cam timing itself, add in some advance. Installing vq cams is a bit tricky because you’re almost always going to be fighting spring pressure when setting your initial lobe angle. So make sure the cams weren’t put in slightly retarded

Also, it could be that back pressure is blowing out your exhaust gaskets and making the car lazy. I know you talked about that in previous vids… Might be time to have the 3 bolt shit chopped off and replaced with vband. Or, I would really recommend having someone make those joints into double slip fit connections.

Thanks for the reccoendations bro. Oil pump is upgraded with a billet gear, we do use a damper pulley, I do have a e85 map and we do use meth as well. The car has a precision 6870 on it and going with a smaller housing would help but then we would lose top end. I think going with the old cam will be great as I had that before and it drove phenomenally

Avoid flat foot shifting really. Even thought I did it endlessly for years lol. It eventually let go after we adjusted the clutch pedal to grab high. This created a huge shock

Interesting Enougb spray would actually help quick with mid range until the turbo kicks in on the current cam. As for the 272 on spray that would be interesting for top end I'd just be worried about head lift at that point

5:56. well i see my theory was correct. the input shaft at those higher torque levels, being that it is hardend steel. it gets shock fractures from hard shifts, i.e. when doing pulls/racing. and because the failure point is somewhere between 650-850+ torque they will break off. normally it doesnt break this bad, but all the builds i've seen using this transmission, especially in JZ cars, they break around this power. even though you were on low boost, i believe your transmission was already on its way out. the cheapest way of course is to just throw another cd009 in it, orrrrr go t56 LOL. granted im not aware of anybody that makes a kit for the DE for t56 (maybe grannas ? )

Tough call, the c9 sounds the business, yet the c8 gives more usable power, although only seems like 1000rpms or so. Wouldnt putting a slightly smaller exhaust housing on the c9 bring the power back to mid range? I would go with c8, still sounds good and has good overall range of usable power.

@@brokeq50boi80 oh yes, I forgot about the final drive. Yeah, try the final drive on stock ratio, I remember he tried but the LSD didnt work. I would say even with out the LSD, you will still get a feel for if it will shift power correctly.

@@brokeq50boi80I actually used to run a 3.3 lsd with the old cams after switching to the new cam saw how bad it was that we are currently running the oem vlsd which helped a lot but it's still nothing like the old cam. Imagine the old cam with the stock vlsd going to be wild lol

Not a video buddy. I was racing my friend he had a g35 while we were racing he banged the fuck outta his first gear then his engine was toast we had to get his car towed and and sold to a junk yard. Also my cousin had one he drove it for a bit and it blew up. Engine can't handle that power it produces apparently. They don't even hit 300,000 km on the dashboard and they blow up usually happens around 260,0000 km

@@anona3918 so two things, I was saying that my engine didn't blow up as you said in your first comment. Second the ones that blow up are from kids not knowing how to maintain them, these engines tend to burn oil a bit and kids never check or top up their oil and then beat on them and the motor blows. If properly taken care of they can run extremely high miles.

Everyone is tripping do C10 on one side and get C11s for the other what do y’all know. Seriously tho both do sound really good C9 a lil more deeper and slightly better but up to you at the end of the day. With faster cars out there you’ll need a better top end. With mid end power you can pull but without hard steam at the end you’ll lose to the faster more high powdered cars. Sucks because you need go mid to get you out too but top end falling flat with the faster high powered cars will lose you the race. Sucks you can’t have both since both are good to have mid & high. Do 1 side C8 & 1 side C9 ha.

Thr c9 are so God damn aggressive in sound but it's like 80% losses in power forum 2500-6000 rpm. You literally only gain a bit at 7000 and then a decent amount a after 7000 but your up there for a split second in between shifts. On my kill map I'm down like 250-300 whp/wtq around 4k which is eggregious

If i'm not mistaken input shaft breakage typically occurs when torque has been exceeded. If I am wrong someone feel free to educate :)

We were on base boost which is only 530wtq it can handle over 700wtq. It was the flat foot shift in my opinion after we adjusted the clutch to grab higher, way too much shock in a split second.

@@nitish21 Ah, my apologies. At the time of writing, I didn't take into account that no-lift shifting was in play. Given the situation, is it possible that temperatures for the transmission were high as well? I understand you were racing, and possible heat stress could have played a role, along with your statement that the transmission was shocked given the RPM of the shift :)

I was able to get the tranny already but this guy brought it over in pieces, now I need to change the shifter rod from my current tranny to that one. I got the oil pan but there is a chance I might do a fresh block because of the corner broken off

Need a stronger trans to handle that power..... keep it manual tho 💯..... screw all those auto boxes(DCT, sequential, etc)..... real drivers use clutches

Red lining isn't the issue it's the endless flat foot shifting from 3-4. The but it seemed to only actually happen agreed we adjusted the clutch pedal engagement point to the top.
