Looking at the comments - it was ever thus and always will be. One part of "Ireland" want Ulster back but the majority don't want to go. The "hatred" runs deep and will never be erased while both sides celebrate their differences. Very impressive parade. But why all the monotonous squeaky fife bands? Demographically in Northern Ireland it looks as if the Nationalists are outbreeding the Unionists. So what will happen then? The Unionist majority will become a Unionist Minority. I have no problem with each side celebrating their culture as long as it is done in a respectful, non threatening ,nonsectarian manner. The parade would be more interesting if there was a variety of brass and reeds bands and pipe bands. There is a huge tradition of excellent competition pipe bands in Northern Ireland.

SANSOUCCI Well we won’t know until a referendum on unity happens. I would agree that the bottom line will be whether ordinary people might lose out financially. It’s nice to be proper up by the British financial subsidy. Also whether the Republic would be able to absorb the North financially is doubtful. Germany took a decade to recover financially following reunification. So for ordinary person financial reasons the populations could well vote against reunification on the island of Ireland!!!! Only time will tell.
