One of the best things I like to for my self at night is make sure the dishwasher is loaded and turned on and the kitchen is clean. Also I take out the trash. Mornings before I leave the house i empty the dishwasher, tidy the kitchen and load the breakfast items into it. Make the bed and take the laundry to the next step. Sometimes I do a “plus one job” if the house is getting out of order.” These small steps have really helped me even when I don’t feel up to doing a lot at once.
Yes it is so true that even little things can contribute to an overall larger purpose! My theory is that if we are constantly being mindful and tidying a little here and there, we won’t have to face a gigantic mountain of mess! ❤️
Great video, Angela! i'm literally amazed at how you managed to pack up so much of useful information without it feeling rushed or jammed. I also really liked the pieces of footage from your life, sooo aesthetically pleasing... :) Thank you and have a beautiful day! :)
I write my favorite recipes in a notebook. This cuts down on magazines, web searches, and cookbooks. I have a designated spot for my notebook just outside my kitchen on a bookshelf. I love that I know where to go when I want to make a tried and true recipe quickly. No more sifting through books or social media saved recipes. At one time I had three notebooks. I realized that I was saving recipes that I never tried or recipes that my family did not rave about. 😅 yes, I condensed them to just one. With room for more recipes as needed.
Love this but, not sure how removing window coverings will reduce electricity bills? I was planning to do the opposite to keep the room warmer in winter. Love the idea of more light though.
I was thinking in terms of not needing to put lights on in the room. But you’re right that there probably is some energy lost through the glazing during the cold months
Such a great list. Every week, with a cup of coffee or tea, I'm taking a break and watch your videos. Always inspirational, sometimes funny and you have such a calm voice. After my break I always have something more to declutter or new ways to simplify my life/house. From this list I am going to try a lot. Too many to mention. Love your channel. Love from the Netherlands. ❤️
Always look forward to your Tuesday offerings! Mardi Gras is a great time to set new intentions for the beginning of Lent. What to let go of which no longer serves, what to add to build new life or enhance who we already are. Honoring the dinacharya (daily routine in Sanskrit) helps stay closer to the bone. Ex: Paying attention to circadian rhythms. Up with or before the sun, retiring by 10 pm. No eating before sunrise or after sunset. I know this is not always practical but it is great for the digestion , both physical and mental!
I personally haven't owned a dresser for over 10 years now. I just hang up everything and have two baskets on the floor for socks and underwear. This has really simplified my fashion and overall cludder. I have 4 of everything like pants, shirts, polos, and shorts.
I am going to eliminate my dresser in my bedroom and resort to hanging. I have hung the slacks, coordinated top & vest or jacket on one special hanger to make 3 or 4 sets of outfits to wear for church, or special outing. Dresses are hung together with jackets or scarves. Then I have regular day slacks hung with sweaters or T's. I love the idea of hanging the outfit out the night before, ready for morning.
I find I do best with housekeeping when I set those 15 minute timers. The projects always feel like they will take longer than they actually do. ETA: we really need to get on and track our budget!
Yes! It always shocks me how quickly things can get done when I set a timer too! I think my brain likes the challenge! Ha ha! Good luck on the budget! It takes some time figuring it out, but really simplifies things once you have it in place! ❤️
This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RU-vid channel 6 months ago about self development. Now I have 435 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.
@@ArrowHillCottage Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say based on your posts and profile that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my RU-vid channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a RU-vidr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this RU-vid thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! I am hoping that you can join me with this endless personal development journey! :)
It was quite windy at night, but not too bad during the day :). It's winter and it should be cold, but it isn't. We're waiting for spring :). I will watch your last video many times and will take some notes! Great inspiration. I'm a homeschooling mom of 5 children and I'd love our house to be decluttered. We get a lot of hand-me-downs from our family and friends, we swap with our friends and I try to keep what I need and give away the rest as soon as possible, but we still have too much inventory. We have so many books and magazines we go back to. I'm still learning how to part with things and trust God! Still learning how to part with my just-in-cases :) Oh, and my idea for cookbooks is to take a picture of the recipe I like and donate the book : Thank you again for your videos and wishing you and your family all the best and many blessings from God. Love, Ania
Great idea for the cookbook! I have a video about magazine clutter. I like to rip out the pages I reference and put them in clear plastic sleeves. It greatly reduced my stack to only a couple of binders! And I can organize them by topic better that way too! Maybe something to consider for your homeschool! ❤️
@@ArrowHillCottage Thank you. We started a few years ago. We were small time hoarders. We started by going through one box daily. Now I'm down to mostly surface clutter. It might seem backwards but we're trying to break the habit of plopping things on surfaces.
You’re right. Now more than ever before there is a push to stockpile. I think getting some essentials is fine, but a person could definitely go overboard! ❤️
I agree with these suggestions and do most of them. For young people, instead of spending money on depreciation assets invest in your future: education, career development, exercise, nutrition, etc.
This really made me laugh ONLY 101 really that many to simplify my life i was thinking about 5 or 6 might be a more approachable amount, sorry 101 is a contradiction in terms xxxxx
I get that. For our house, Unless someone climbed ladders, nobody is seeing into our bedroom windows at night. We live on a hill. But…the living room…yes, they could if they walked up to the front door ❤️
A neighbor that used to live by us. Told my husband “Sherri sure keeps her curtains closed”. She was trying to see in. She couldn’t 😂. She was a Nosey Neighbor
