It hasn’t yet. I can’t for the life in me figure out how to trigger pads from external gear. I know it’s receiving MIDI because thru is working. It’s driving me nuts
I’ve cracked it!! I went straight in with a new SD card, without all the relevant files on. Clearly there was something missing to tell it what to do. Thank god for that 😂😂
For the launchpads everything is already laid out perfectly. You can lay it out yourself. But you’d have to use the right midi notes on the controller. So if you change the notes /layout on your controller (if that is possible on your specific controller) it can totally work. But it’s not like a “midi lean”
Did you setup that note mapping or is that standard? I'm just looking for a way to play a bunch of loops quarantined in time with one another so I can bring some songs over from Reason to hardware only setup but then make live remixes. Not sure what to get for a MIDI controller to do it. Can I quickly change pads to another set? Oh you have a song mode video going there.
This is the standard mapping for both the launchpad (and works on mini as well) and the blackbox. As for changing pads. Yes I think so. But I’m not sure what you’re trying to achieve
Very nice video, but I have a question. I have my Blackbox now for a longer time and im trying to figure out how to use my launchpad as a midi controller for my blackbox. Im using the Novation Launchpad mk3 pro as a controller for my Blackbox, but the only thing that I can controll is the pitch of pads. Im not able to controll the sequencers, the pad record or the different pads without setting them up with the right midi channel. Im using the output of my launchpad and its connected to the midi input of my Blackbox, and im using the same grid with the same midi notes like you. Do you have an idea what could be wrong ?
Yes. That sounds familiar. What blackbox firmware are you on? Cause I think (I’m away for a while and I don’t have everything at hand) the channel you are sending has to correspond the Global Midi channel. So you could try the Omni setting just to make sure it registers at all. If I’m correct you should be able to trigger pads and to enable sequences with the left to drum grids. Than if you go to 03:30 (just looked it up) you can see the settings for not only triggering pads or toggling sequences but also recording and clearing samples
