I think my biggest problem I've had with Pilot2ATC is not the app itself but me not completely reading the manual when I first started. You can do so many things with it. Force runways, atc chatter, the list goes on and on
Thanks for keeping it real! That whole pause flight come back in 15 mins is the real life of a sim pilot. I also had this problem and it still comes back sometimes. I had to make sure that the weather source was the same as XPlane as in P2ATC to get it to work more often. Disappointed to see that the pilot forced runway selector did not correct the problem. Keep up the efforts though it will come right someday.
Nice video! The issue is clearly that p2a has different eind direction compared to sim weather. A wind of 07 would indicate rwy 02 ratjer than 20. with xplane you can configure p2a to use sim weather - makin the weather exactly match what you have in the sim. I use msfs myself, and currently this sim does not export the weather data in a way that p2a can use. But the match between NOAA weather and msfs live weather is usually spot on. Have used p2a for years, and had my share of frustrations, but after overcoming them I think it is an invaluable addon for immersion. I encourage you to continue your quest for p2a enjoyment 😊. Hey mate, thanks for a great video again. As a potential P2ATC customer when I finally get my sim up an running I found it very interesting. I have a couple of theories, probably way off the mark but anyway, the P2ATC controller said wind was (I think) 078 @ 5kts which makes sense for the designated runway so maybe just a conflict with something else (I don’t know anything about xplane or TG). I wonder if for example you can align xplane weather with P2ATC weather. My second theory is that looking at John Wayne airport on Google maps, it looks like there’s a GA park on the S.E. corner of the airport which would make sense I think for taxiways B, E and A.
Thanks for watching mate. P2ATC has settings from where it can get weather data from. I selected Sim Weather initially thinking this would easily align with XP12. It didnt.....Perhaps the wind changed direction in between but I am still a little confused in this regard. More testing to do. With respects to your 2nd point you do raise a valid point here, however one of the things I really like about P2ATC is that it knows where you are in the sim. So the program knows I am in the location I am in........not sure why then it directs me somewhere else.........more testing to do me thinks.......
I see you already tried what I suggested in another comment. This should work fine, at least it did back in xplane 11… Are you sure you pointed p2a to the correct xplane weather file when you selected sim weather? If I remember correctly, p2a needs to know the location of this file, it does not read the data automatically if you only check the sim weather checkbox
@@rightrudder788 Hey mate. You raised a good point and I had the sim weather pointing to directory per the P2ATC instructions as it says it reads XPlanes metar.rwx file, but guess what? XP12 doesnt have this file anymore due to the way in which it is handling real weather....will contact the creators and see if fully compatible with XP12.....
aahhh I may have found the answer peoples. Unbeknown to me P2ATC is going through some beta updates at present and seems to have addressed Wx issue in XP12 (2.6.3.2 public beta 7a).....let's see how this goes.
The same issue is with PFE with PFEtoXPLANE plugin. It reads XP11 weather data, but not what ActiveSky injects. So I decided to just disable certain runways in PFE and try to live with it and hope there will be no runway change on arrival.
Interesting experience you have had here. I purchased TG and P2ATC several months ago, but haven't tried them together yet. Your experience is disappointing to say the least. I am impressed how your PC is running XP12 on triple screens with these addons.

Great video and style too, I'm just about to try P2ATC on FS2020 so its good to know in advance its not perfect :) The built-in ATC is pants though so anything would be better.
That P2ATC is giving way too much information in its clearances. God help us if P2ATC takes over real world towers. When ATC say something with the word expect, you never have to repeat that information due to it being purely for your information. Not that in the real world normally you'd get told about downwind departure unless they are doing some really weird departures or something. I got checked out yesterday in a C172 G1000 yesterday, VH-BSV. Haven't been doing much flying due to floods everywhere. So you might see some clips from a C172 soon.

HI John. Addons I have is Global Traffic and scenery generally Ortho4XP. I do have some Orbx depending on the location. This wasnt one of them..........How do you think it looks?
I was impressed looked like more traffic than I get especially more airport ancillary vehicles. I use the same addons need to change my setting I think.
Hi mate and thanks for tuning in. I love the Simionic units and would strongly recommend them. I have talked about these in my previous videos and have both advantages and disadvantages. Main advantage is does not add any additional load to your machine as are independent apps via wifi and therefore will not impact frame rates. Disadvantage is that you can get a slight (very slight) lag between sim and the apps. I hardly notice it but if your wifi isnt good then might be worse. The Real Sim Gear stuff I cannot talk to, but from what I have seen these do look very nice, although they do add to the base load on your pc.......hope this helps.
Pilot2ATC is the most expensive bucket of bugs and time waster of my life, and it keeps getting worse with the new betas releases. But the customer support is even worse lol
