With a stack of saw blades, I needed a nice way to store them to keep them safe.
Yes, I know there is a typo (wreck vs wreak)
The saw blades I bought (I got them from Amazon, half the price of AU stockists!)

A great way to store saws. You have such a variety. Like!

Cool project. I solved the sleeping on the couch problem by getting a very comfortable couch... :) It's a tossup as to whether she makes me sleep on it or she goes there herself... but when it's me... I don't mind. LOL!

Nice solution! I have three 10" blades and a dado set, which is enough that I need something like this.

Very nice. Now you have to get more blades to fill the gaps.

I made something similar for the sandpaper and this is the next organizer project. Nice video, Paul. :)

+Humus Workshop I have (boxes of) discs, sheets, and rolls of sandpaper - so many different types to contend with! Did you just go with drawers or some funky stuff for rolls?

+Paul Jenkins Discs! Sorry, only with drawers. :)

I like how that came out, Paul. Just got a new Freud Industrial blade from woodcraft not too long ago. Loving it so far. Need to get to get a better rip blade though soon and build myself something like this. And stopping being to lazy to change the blade for one that will do a better job (usually just leave a combo blade on a the time haha).

+Carter Wilson Workshop Thats part of what this storage box was about - it makes it easier to change the blades because they're less buried, and its easy to take a couple of 'drawers' over to the saw so none of the blades ever touch the cast iron.

+Paul Jenkins gotcha. I've been wanting to build a little shelf or set of drawers under my saw wing to house all the accessories (blade guards and push blocks and the like). I think I'll incorporate this into that. Then there's really no excuse because it'll be right there and neat.

looks nice and organized now. i need to make a new storage solution for all my blades..i should clean them up first.lol maybe a bit of wX on the slides will get rid of that scratchy sound when pulling and pushing the drawers/slots

+Joe basementwoodworking Yup, plan to put some wax on the edges and shellac the whole thing, but just ran out of time today.
@tooljunkie555

Paul Jenkins I know you wouldn't leave it plain Jane:) it's just funny cuz I have something similar what to store my pocket hole screws and other accessories and it made that scratchy noise and my wife of all people suggested putting wax on the sides of the drawers I heard you mentioned your wife so that's what made me think of the wax on the drawers LOL
@tooljunkie555
@tooljunkie555 8 лет назад
+Paul Jenkins question I always get this mixed up..you shellac over polyurethane first and then apply wax correct?
@TheWoodKnight
@TheWoodKnight 8 лет назад
+Joe basementwoodworking Typically you'd use a 1lb or 2lb cut of shellac to seal the wood, then poly. In this case I won't use poly at all, there isn't any need.

Very nice to have a good place to store them, especially with room for extras! Where did you purchase your blades from?
@TheWoodKnight
@TheWoodKnight 8 лет назад
+Deverell N-K All from Amazon (see links in the description) - basically "two-for-the-price-of-one" if I was to buy from within Australia.
@deverellnewson-king4901
@deverellnewson-king4901 8 лет назад
Ah I thought they might be, many amazon products work out much better than Australian prices, even after you take into consideration our dollar and shipping!
@TheWoodKnight
@TheWoodKnight 8 лет назад
+Deverell N-K And Amazon tends to have crazy fast shipping compared to a couple of the major retailers in Australia. Took 8 days from order to arrive - 10 days ahead of what Amazon predicted.

Very nice build. Does the job nicely without the need for some ridiculous Binford 6000 CNC machine to cut out the plywood blanks. I was very interested also in the mini printer you use for labels. What model is that, and does it require a PC or just the smartphone app?
@TheWoodKnight
@TheWoodKnight 6 лет назад
Epson LW-600P. Can use a PC via USB or BT, or iOS/Android app via BT. Can even run it off batteries (6xAA I think) if you wanted to be really mobile with it!

Paul, I'm assuming the fact that you use freud blades, that the coating on their blades do not affect sawstop's breaking technology . Is that right?
@TheWoodKnight

+John Barr correct

What was that circle cutter you used on the drill press?
@TheWoodKnight
@TheWoodKnight 8 лет назад
An adjustable circle cutter.
@christschool
@christschool 8 лет назад
Paul Jenkins Got that. Is there a brand?
@TheWoodKnight
@TheWoodKnight 8 лет назад
Much like a "forstner" bit, the type of this bit is called "adjustable circle cutter". No particular brand. Search for that term, you'll get plenty of results ranging from generic, no branding bits, up to lee valley selling some.

This is the most complex and inefficient use of space I have ever seen. Bad storage system. You can not see what is in each drawer. So you have to hunt for the one you want. Only a cabinet maker would think of this. I hand all my blades on 4" long peg hooks on my pegboard with cardboard spacers between the blades. I organize them by diameter and by tooth count. I can immediately see what blade I want.
