October 23-24, 2021 - Super 32 Challenge Individual Wrestling Tournament at Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center in Greensboro, North Carolina Anthony Knox {G} of New Jersey defeated Bo Bassett {R} of Pennsylvania by 10-4
This 106 lb championship final in which Anthony Knox defeated Bo Bassett by 10-4 took place at the 2021 Super 32 tournament. Knox and Bassett met again in the 113 lb championship finals of the 2022 Super 32 tournament; however, this time Bassett defeated Knox 10-5. At the 2023 Super 32 tournament, Knox and Bassett did not meet again, but both won their championship finals. Knox defeated Nathan Desmond at 120 lb, while Bassett defeated Sergio Vega at 132 lb. Both Knox and Bassett defeated their opponents by the exact same score: 11-0.
What an intense match from two very very talented wrestlers. As wrestling enthusiast I was on the edge of my seat cheering for both of them. I would like to comment that the officials did a very good job. And we all have to admit that the videographer was superb in capturing every moment with clarity.
That was a very hard fought match. It is great to see how they did in future matches you noted. These two are bound for greatness in NCAA if they pursue it.
Better yet during an unnecessary injury time (breather) which safe to say was Bo’s ol man he was walking it out like a lil stud while Knoxberries catches his breath lol no matter the score Bo wrestled how it should be done and represented the sport as it should be…major props to team Bo..hands down the man in that match.!
Penn State is ranked #1 in NCAA wrestling this year and is one of the best programs in the country every year. Eastern PA around Easton/Nazareth HS have a rich tradition of wrestling. This is a great video for college recruiters from Division One and Two (smaller colleges) to view.
These guys are insanely good. We wrestled in late 70's and early 80's and our high school, Ridley, had won 7-8 straight championships when we graduated and we had won 5 straight dating back to junior high. But they must be training them in 2nd and 3rd grade -- or out of the crib! for these guys to be that talented. I like SCHOLASTIC wrestling a lot better than collegiate and God forbid, Freestyle. It moves faster, more moves, quicker styles, top and bottom and no penalizing or giving points for riding time. Anyone else like scholastic wrestling best??? Anyway, I got injured and didn't wrestle in college, but in 1986 Penn State became the only team to beat Iowa at Iowa City -- and some of those guys were wrestling at the same time I did, at least, in high school. Maybe, that was the beginning of the shift. Who knows? (Saw Bassett beat a NCAA champ as an incoming junior in h.s.! That was IMPOSSIBLE during my time!!)
Coaching my kid and going to tournaments on weekends there are several kids in the 10U and 12U that are scary talented. It’s amazing to see such greatness in Bassett and Knox
Just 'love' the kiss blowing and arrogance at the end. Makes me thankful I wrestled in the 80's when people shook hands and celebrated an accomplishment. Its all me me now.
Time will tell.. My moneys i Knoxberries being a flake next level.. my ol man woulda set me straight if I woulda ever acted like that after a W.. and I’m a 2 timer #135#140.. most disrespectful to the sport..
I watched the match 4 times not knowing either kid and unbiased and within 1st period could just tell Bo is and will be pushing the next level.. Knox will be faded out.. pretty decent prediction
Reading a lot of the comments I have to wonder if no one watched the match or if they don't understand the sport. First off, just so people don't think I'm just a Knox fan or a Bo hater, I'm definitely a fan of both of theirs. They are both INSANELY TALENTED! But heres how the match actually played out... Knox dominated the first 2 rounds and was way up in points going into the 3rd. He started to stall because he had a significant lead, which is super frustrating to an opponent but also a very sound strategy. The ref then stopped the match and called potentially dangerous. Knox used that time to catch his breath and prepared to not get pinned for the last few seconds. Again, very sound strategy. If you guys don't like Knox or are just purely a Bo fan you can watch the next match that they wrestled and see Bo win, but in this match Knox was just a better wrestler.
Knox didn’t dominate anything…just got handed 2 pointers.. Bo was overly aggressive (better rasler) which lead to very subjective 2 point calls on some slight tilt bs points to Knox… Knox gets gassed while Bo was stickin it to him and cries for help… match shoulda continued without a breather and Knox gets stuck… AND without poor ass end zone dance.. not a good match.. let the kids wrestle!
Time will tell on the better wrestler.. I know who my votes on.. Bettin the one gets slapped around acting like that after a very much so handed out W.. very evident..
Knox scored a take down and back points twice and then Bo gets frustrated and rips his shoulder in a direction it’s not meant to go which is why the ref stopped it immediately. Right when I saw him rip that kids shoulder I thought he tore it. For the record at that point if Knox was unable to continue he would have won anyway. A lot of guys would have just waited out the injury time and taken the win. Which they are entitled to do if the opponent injures you with an illegal move. U guys are complaining about him stalling, stalling only works if your already winning and winning by enough margin to not worry about the points which he was. I’d have done the same thing, why exert yourself and risk the match when all you have to do is watch the clock run out. He would have been dumb to do anything else.
Tell me you don't wrestle, without telling me you never wrestled. It was neither deliberate (in trying to harm his opponent), nor illegal. In my day, you would never have gotten a whistle for that move.
Yes, sir. PA has had 8 three time NCAA champions along with a four-timer and a countless number of other national champs. NJ has had a ton of national champs as well, especially over these last couple of decades. NJ had the first two-time olympic gold medalist(George Mehnert), and they have Jordan Burroughs and Bruce Baumgartner. There is no tougher area for wrestling than the Lehigh Valley.
So I have a question about your comment. You said keep it classy, and I agree with you that one of the things I love about wrestling is the respectful way that most carry themselves. My son is 13 and is an honorable wrestler, whether he wins or loses. But my question is this. In the world of tiktok and instagram that we absolutely now live in, don't you think wrestling is going to have to have some big personalities in order to stay relevant? The reality is companies play things on TV and channels post things on-line that get views and make money. If wrestling doesn't have any big personalities, kids now days will not watch. And if they don't watch, they won't grow up wanting to wrestle. If they don't wrestle, eventually the sport fades away. I myself enjoy watching the quiet confidence that comes from long hours of practice and knowing how good you are, but I am also 46 years old and have a very old-school mentality. My son has a youtube channel called HITSQUAD WRESTLING and he is interested in growing his sport. I follow his channel to see how it's doing and if you put a wrestling match vs a highlight reel, the lights get double the views. Kids now days wanna see flashy. Super long comment for a short question, but do you think a cocky personality would help or hurt the sport?
No doubt that Bo is a tiger...and he lost to Knox(now at Cornell...iirc), King of the "jungle"...err mat! Once again TY Midwest Wrestle...ongoing, excellent videography!
During the injury time, the score was very obvious. 9-4 Knox and after restart, Bassett deferred to neutral, giving up one more point so that the final was 10- 4, right @user-1Hymz??????? lol
Look, the dork here chimes in. Knox dominated the first two periods. Bo couldn't turn him in the 3rd, got frustrated and pulled that dirty move. End of story
Bassett is gonna be a 4x state champion in the best HS wrestling state in the country by a mile. Then He's going to Penn State to win 4 natties then on to win multiple world championships and gold medals. He's as elite as I've seen
Red indicated the neutral signal to the official immediately prior to the restart, indicating that he would like to intentionally release green and grant a one-point escape. Generally speaking, this is a common strategy when a wrestler feels that they are more likely to be able to take their opponent down than they are to be able to turn their opponent to their back.
@@mikephalen3162 Accumulated riding time for an extra match point is a rule at the college level only, not at high school or below-level matches of folk-style bouts.
@@IM-WAY2PSYCHO okay, thank you for the clarification. Bc I had only seen him wrestle at the clarion open and I haven’t paid much attention to his other wrestling matches prior to that tournament so idk when this match was
@@mrbeybladetrading6618 why not. Most everyone there at the Coliseum were pro Bo. I liked that bit of stfu from Knox. No one respected his abilities, and he won easily in a great match.
wrestler in red should have been able to crank that arm over... it hurt the other wrestler only because he just didnt want to get flipped over and get pinned so he stayed in position cranked down. He should have lost because of that.
If you have that illegal move put on you and then some, you'd be crying Queenie boy. Bo got dirty and knew what he was doing. He put up 9 points on God before Bo got frustrated and tried to hurt him. FACT
Big Time posturing being done in this match up by both wrestlers. But Knox played the refs into making a bad decision to me. Bassett should have been declared the winner of this match he was the actual aggressor . Pay to see these two both wrestlers put on quite a show.
So much stalling by the so called winner only 1 stalling call dude litdidnt trybto escape at all i mea. I guess good stalling game not really good wrestling
Difference between Bo and Knox…. Knox dropped a weight class to face Bo for this super 32 Knox back to his original weight he was supposed to wrestle at this year at super 32 Bo wrestled up to high school division super 32 while in 8th Bo wrestled up U21 for worlds. Bo wrestled up to 138 for WNO Bo is wrestling at 133 now due to letting his teammate Jax Forrest have the 126 division so they don’t have to face each other. He could easily make 126. Bo is wrestling college opens now! And winning.

This past weekend (2/29-3/2) Knox destroyed everyone in his path at the NJ State championships. In his first bout he registered a TF (19-4) in 55 seconds which I didn't even know was possible...crazy. He pinned one kid in 15 seconds, and also registered a TF in 2 minutes and another one in 5:46. In the finals he won 15-7 and he was in total control of the match. He said his goal for next year was to TF everyone at States.
Wonder which schools are recruiting Knox? The BIG Conference has two of the best wrestling programs in the NCAA (Penn State, Iowa and Nebraska) and the Big XII has OkSU and Iowa State which were highly ranked too.
Different weight classes slappy. Both are #1 in the country at their respective weight classes. Now do us all a favor and stay in that narrow lane you call reality.
Are these the state champions for NJ and PA? It would be interesting to see a tournament in which many of the State champions faced each other to see who is truly best in the Nation. I have always thought that the best wrestling states in terms of High Schools has been New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, but I guess I’m biased.
Hate the cocky attitude. He only wins because he "got hurt" during a pin move? I cannot stand how weak my sport has become. So many matches stopped because of soccer-like acting from the dude losing. Then the guy comes back with a win and acts like he is the best thing since sliced bread.
It was the ref that responded almost instantly when that shoulder almost got blown out. It was a good call. Wrestling is all about making points and that keeps the sport civilized unlike the fans. Wrestling is like playing chess with the body. Unfortunate that some people think is about beating people up.
so stop him, hes got two super 32 belts a fargo title 2 state titles a beast of east title an escape the rock title 3 whos number one titles go and stop him if u dont like his attitude doesnt seem like anyone else can either so dont feel bad. bo hit an illegal move out of frustration. do you not think when knox got on top he couldnt of just choked him unconcious?? you are a moron
