Moving the narrowboat from the top of lock 2 on the Droitwich Barge canal (near Hawford Junction) and up to Droitwich Spa itself. I end up on the visitor moorings at Netherwich basin and go for a walk around Vines Park.

I really loved you taking time to show off the town this time. Would be awesome for you to include more of that in future videos. Ventures into town at each stop. Even for the mundane things like shopping. Gives us overseas viewers a glimpse into another part of the world! Very enjoyable channel - Thanks for the content!!

I doubt I'll do much of it elsewhere, maybe the occasional shot or so - if I've gone into town for shopping, I'd usually rather just get that done than spend time filming it! Glad you liked it though.

Hello David - I found your channel a few ago and absolutely love it. I believe that I've viewed about 90% of the episodes you've posted and looking forward to catching up to date on every one. It's not so much that I am a narrow boat enthusiast (truth be known I didn't know they existed until I stumbled upon your channel) it's more about your videography, pleasant tone and delivery. I'm here in the colonies (Maryland to be exact) and am an avid boater however we have nothing here that compares to your "cut". Thank you very much for your videos and I look forward to additional offerings of "the vlog".

A vicious circle with the encroaching bulrushes. If folk can't moor and dawdle at their own pace they won't use the canal so much perhaps and the bulrushes will close in again. Adding some moorings may attract more traffic because it seemed nice and quiet with lovely scenery.

Little did this guy know, back when he was one of maybe only THREE Narrow Boat Vloggers, that his own particular style and experiences with a stick-boat, swans with -tude, cheese sandwiches and a potty with a name reminiscent of an ancient method of listening to music (requiring a yellow #2 pencil) would educate, entertain and soothe so very many of us. I realize you just took a well-earned and deserved sabbatical while WE binge on cups of tea, awesome wry/dry humor and the worlds slowest method of transportation, wishing there was MORE as we SQUEEK BY THE PLAGUE... Yours are Precious and much Treasured gifts right now and I know I speak for many when I :::: pinch the sides of my sweats and bring my right foot behind my left, gracefully achieving a deep and steady bow::: curtsy and say *Thank You* It is the wrong color blue but the sound is in the right ball park and it IS Bigger On The Inside. (Hm u could stowaway in the library) All it needs as a 42 somewhere... And maybe borrow a bowl of petunias from a friend 😎✌💫 Best wishes Blessings And a copious amount of cheese Sarah

Very entertaining David. I've told you why you always meet on a curve, "The law of critical convergence". It happens everywhere. I've been thinking you need to add spuds to your boat. What is a spud, you say? "A movable vertical pipe or H-section placed through a strong frame on a barge to anchor a vessel to the bottom." In your case, it could be a couple of sections of pipe welded to the hull, the next time you get the boat blacked. In practice, you could use them to hold yourself in place at locks and to pivot on when making tight turns.

Enjoyed visiting with you the ancient town of Droitwich with its flavourful and fascinating history. Btw, that stretch of the canal immediately before the lock at 8:02 appears challenging for manoeuvring a Narrowboat but probably it's just the camera angle.

Vines Park is very pleasant and Droitwich has some lovely pubs (I do like The Talbot) and a very "out of place" French Chateau (Chateau Impney) which is now a hotel. Waitrose is handy for the canal, but with their motto of "Why pay less!" (well in my head anyway:) ) I'm not sure many canal folk shop there :). Great vlog as usual David :)

Thank you. It's not something I intend to do more of though as I want to keep the channel canal-focused rather than a general "tour of English villages and history via canal", if that makes sense. Also, history videos demand loads of research and there's often no images to go with the story.
@keraba1
@keraba1 7 лет назад
I think the "English tour" helps people who wonder what they might reach from narrowboat, on a vacation, for example. If you'd prefer keeps these people away from the canal, by all means, continue highlighting angry water foul. ;)

Not in my case, I grew up (sort of) in Amsterdam, but I have to admit that I know very little of it's history.

Another excellent vlog, it's really nice to see my usual cruising grounds from other perspectives. Just spent last week on the Dudley No's 1 & 2, Stourbridge, Staffs&Worcs and BCN old main line, there are some mega morons up their as you know, still at least the spelling seems to have improved!

Haha, I applaud well spelt (and properly punctuated) graffiti!

That's the first time I've seen you whack the side of your boat. Lovely videos, we're enjoying your travels back here in California.

This is sooo good. Very much like watching a professionally produced tele show. This has "content" lovely... just lovely.... how lovely.. really. But will you please make it a point to show some of the insides of these little shops and repair stations? I also would like to see huge platters of whole fried cod with chips. extra tarter sauce please, and a big bowl of ice cream. you never show your meals. In the future you can make your episode longer because we cant get enough of this. It would be helpful too if you showed where you are on the map.

I rarely do "tourist" or cooking videos as this is a narrowboat channel and I wish to keep it that way. There are lots of RU-vid channels that show cooking or what England is like. As for maps, I mention lots of place names so that you can look them up on Google maps and have a far better look around than I ever could with a static map in a video. Cheers

I mean when you stop at a pub and eat, just a brief picture/video of your food, and the atmosphere. even the brief laundry room scene was great. its shows what life is like there with the over priced tokens (lol) and the funny coin op devices, those little details make for great entertainment. I love all the details you give, it make sit veyr interesting. and your sense of humor is keen.

English town names that end in "-wich" are often salt towns. It used to mean "workings" and things got confused. Thanks for showing the history plaques, David.
