I was at this show!! November 26th, 1975, Santa Monica Civic, CA. I was 21 years old, and a white dude with a huge (fake) afro sat directly in front of me during the whole show. Had a great time, anyway. One of the best concerts I ever attended. Double drummers with Kevin Godley and Paul Burgess (as an honorary member).
And what a great team Kev n Paul Burgess are on drums...love the improvisation on Baron Samedi 😄 Lol is a budding rock comedian! Graham's bass is deep, thick and subtle. God Iove these guys.
One Night in Paris / Une Nui't a Paris' - absolutely brilliant! The Original Soundtrack - one of their best ever albums - together with Sheet Music, How Dare You, Deceptive Bends, Bloody Tourists, and even 100cc Greatest Hits (with 'new' tracks on side 2).
Criminally overlooked and underrated and unfortunately only known for their hit singles but we all know they were so much more that that. Reference points are The beach boys, queen and the sparks. I can’t recommend their first 5 lps enough and seek out their singles with rare b sides as they are all solid.
I’m glad you mentioned Sparks. There’s a large number of bands that cite Sparks as their greatest influence. Sparks is my favorite band. 10CC is my second favorite and I’m still searching for a live performance of One Night in Paris (English words.)
Just finished listening to this. If I was in a band as amazing as this and members left I would be so sad knowing that nothing would ever compare with this night.
10cc did not play live a lot but they really nailed it. I remember before seeing this show, thinking how could they possibly pull it off because their albums were so prolific with such amazing recordings, so much going on. But they did. In fact they hardly missed a step.
Thanks so much for sharing this. I have seen 10cc but just not the original lineup. I have searched everywhere to find a live version of Une Nuit de Paris, which I only heard on record and this is a fabulous treat. ❤
One of those bands whose latest release ( on cassette) was set to play on CONTINUOUS..saw them in Tampa in 1974..steely dan without ALL the gloom and doom..
So good to hear such a raunchy guitar sound...it seems at time there are 3 guitars and this pre-Rick Fenn...wonder if bit of overdubbing may have been done unless they had a session guy to help like some bands like Feeder unashamedly do to give the audience a rich sound. Love Flying Junk. Never heard some of these live. Awesome. 🙃

They didn't do Oh, Effendi !! Boooo hooooo !! 🚬😎 Edit: it's weird to know that half of the band was about to leave soon enough after this show....
Top tip, don't look at the track listing, just enjoy them as the come. I spoiled the surprise at the end by doing so, it would have been even more wonderful to just wait. My big regret is not being old enough to enjoy a live 10cc concert, easily the best all around UK band of all time.

Don't know how I've not come across this recording before - just wish it had video too. Fantastic gig by possibly my all-time favourite band. Going to see them again in 2022, though sadly only Gouldman and Burgess left from this gig's line-up.
Loved this line up - Back then How Dare You was my fave album, hearing it again recently you can tell the end was nigh - but here live - a Class Act - much missed band

This is a Find, true Gold. (not Andrew) Hearing Stockport's finest Graham, LOL{!} , Kevin and Eric+Paul on extra drums- 1 at their apogee 2 TOGETHER 3 playing some of their best( but All were their best) and brazenly demonstrating they were not just a studio group. Wondrous, Witty and Musical geniuses. How people can complain about petty things like the sound, the track list etc is beyond me. Just admire it, the British crown jewels.
I'm pretty sure this was broadcast (in edited form) on King Biscuit Flower Hour. Back in the ancient, pre-internet, pre-cable days, the KBFH was all that we had if you missed a band's live show.
My only complaint is not enough Gizmo reverb (stereo would've been good!) on Old Wild Men but maybe there was front of house if this is desk pull. But such guts to play such studio production rich tracks live.
10cc were a progressive art-pop rock band up to 1976. Phenomenally clever, extremely talented guys. Much as I can't deny a few good catchy pop songs beyond Godley and Creme's departure, as a genre they moved into the middle of the road, drive time zone akin to Leo Sayer. Bit of a shame. Punk didn't help in making them seem even less cool in 1977/78.

Poor comparison. Although they were more progressive before Godley and Creme's departure, they were by and large a pop group with progressive production and quirky lyrics.
Ten tracks of this concert were released on the cd "King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents 10cc in Concert". I was wondering as all of them are from the first two albums. But the recordings here of I’m not in love and (certainly!) The Film of my love are not the best, and Une Nuit a Pais of course is a long one. But since the sound quality is so good the whole concert should be released on a double album.
holy fuck. This is amazing. but am I wrong to say that it sounds like it was beefed up after the fact? In Silly Love there are clearly 3 guitars playing at the same time at the end. How many players were on stage? But I do have to say, it's amazing hearing these takes on the songs. So much much more raw energy than on the studio versions (which I love anyway). Thanks for uploading!
This concert was the source of the songs featured on 10cc King Biscuit's Flower Hour LIve cd released in the 90's so there is a hifi recording of the gig in an archive somewhere. The entire concert though was also available on YT which could theoretically be used as a source for someone to record ;) and 'beef up' after the fact.
I vaguely remember seeing 10cc live in Portsmouth post Godley & Creme in circa the late 80s, that was excellent, including Rubber Bullets and I'm not in love (still both classic songs of course!). But I can imagine to have been a this performance live would have been absolutely brilliant! Anything but the Worst band in the world!
yes there are! Almost the whole album live with the original line up. februar 1976 Sheffield City Hall. Amazing to hear Head Room or Lazy Ways. Rock n Roll Lullaby etc...
If they were anything like the way overrated drivel of Queen I wouldn’t have loved them so much ever since I heard the first album….then Sheet Music blew my 13-yr-old mind 🤯 You can tell the massive 60’s influence infused by icon Gouldman & Eric ‘Groovy Kind of Love’ Stewart unfortunately that waned when the band split in half…though Godley & Crème solo did nothing for me….god knows where they’d be now if the latter two hadn’t been also infused up they’re own arseholes…..
This is not a professional recording. I think some fan recorded the concert on a poor quality microphone. But the power of the music and the energy of the band remained
@@bpol2510 This concert was released on CD many years ago. It only included music that was licensed by their earlier Johathan King contract. It sounded just as wonky. It's probably a line mix right out of the board, so it's not faithful to what was heard by the audience. The great thing about this being available on RU-vid is that it *does* include songs like "I'm Not in Love" (material fresh from Original Soundtrack), etc.
I saw this show. They had the Grateful Dead's sound system. The outstanding thing was that pretty much all of them took turns playing all the instruments. This is the same venue I saw Jeff Beck's "Blow By Blow" show in (wherein he started the show by making fun of Ritchie Blackmore, who had recently declared himself the greatest guitarist in the world, by putting the head of his strat down on the stage and spinning around on it). Also Mahogany Rush where I sat front row right in front of Frank Marino. "Dragonfly"!!! Santa Monica was an extremely intimate venue. So was the Long Beach Arena where I saw Zep in 75. And the San Francisco Cow Palace where I saw the ARMS Concert.
