Join us as we take you through an exciting Water Search and Rescue Training program conducted by the 10th Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command, Philippine Army, in cooperation with the Philippine Coast Guard Northern Mindanao and the Local Government Unit of Camiguin.
Over the course of 5 days, 50 students learned the duties and responsibilities of a rescue volunteer, as well as the basic application of first aid and water survival techniques. The program covered various topics such as rescue skills, water entries and exits, underwater skills, swimming and lifesaving strokes, and first aid to drowning persons and spinal injury management.
The students were also trained in the use of different life-saving appliances and first aid training materials such as personal floatation devices (PFD) and throw lines. To ensure their readiness for the program, the students underwent a pre-entry land and water screening test.
This program aims to provide basic knowledge, effective skills, and a common attitude for its participants as a standard membership requirement to Search and Rescue volunteers. It is a compilation of rescue knowledge brought by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine Life Saving (PLS) standards, designed to develop well-competent members of Search and Rescue Volunteers.
