Angela Winbush's multi-octave range will blow your mind every single time...from her lower register to the power of her voice to her insane range that soars into the stratosphere.
I agree! Also great tie-in to Angela Winbush, since she wrote "Learned To Respect The Power Of Love" which was a huge hit for Stephanie. Years afterward, Angela recorded that song herself on the album that had her also covering Marvin Gaye's Inner City Blues. I think the album was mid to late 90s.
To date one of the few respected female songwriter/producers. She wrote, produced and performed all the instruments on this recording. She was originally at Gospel singer and graduated with honors from our university in music. She was married to Mr. big, a.k.a., Ronald Isley. She is released several albums and she continues to write produce at the phone to this very day. One of my idols.
It was just understood back then you had to be talented. Even those considered mediocre had talent. Angela is a Queen. No time for the Saweeties of the world back then.
You really have to listen to the album version. Angela gave so much more for another minute and a half. She sang the hell out of this song. Also thanks for reacting to this song it is one of my favorite late 80s slow jams
THERE WERE SOOOO MANY HIGH QUALITY FEMALE LYRICISTS WHO COULD "SANG" SONGS AS IF THEY WERE PREPARING WITH SEASONINGS AND SAUCES WITH A SMILE AND A GIVING HEART WHILE LOOKING GORGEOUS AND DEALIN DEM GRANDIOSE BOSS LYRICS. SOOOO SMOOTH AND OWNED!
Dang..... I just realized that. Don’t know why I didn’t see that earlier. Yes, so true. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them both live! They are even better live! ♥️🖤🤎🤍
Yes, indeed!!! Ms Winbush is AMAZING. Please react to more of her stuff!! And - a song she wrote for Stephanie Mills -"I Have Learned to Respect The Power of Love" Those lyrics....are amazing. And Stephanie really kills it.
One of my favorite songs..still in my playlist til this day..I was in high school when this first came out..excellent choice❤🔥💯❤🔥💯❤🔥💯❤this is real old school r&b...love it❤❤
You must react to 1)Shirley Murdock (As we lay)/(Can't go on without you), 2)Cheryl Pepsi Riley (Thanks for my child), 3)Stephanie Mills (I feel good all over)/ (Power of love), 4)Alyson Williams (Just call my name), 5)Denise Williams (Black butterfies)
Thank you Jack for doing this. I been requesting for you to do Angela Winbush - Angel, she’s gonna blow your mind. Also, I hope you do her other song called Treat U Rite. I appreciate you and your reacts are amazing!!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿💯💯🖤🖤
I saw her about 4 years ago and she sang this song. Hit EVERY note clear and beautifully. After having cancer and being told she’d never sing again. She showed the hell out! ♥️🖤🤎🤍
I knew you'd pick Angela eventually, and I also know what your reaction will be. Try to imagine Anita Baker mixed with Lisa Fischer. Two very different kinds of singers, with different abilities, combined into one.
Lol I remember showing someone the popular Lisa Fischer performance of HCIETP & they said she’s just a rangy Anita Baker... Lol I was like “really 😐😐😐”.
If you haven't already, treat yourself to some music from Rachelle Ferrell. Talk about SANGIN...that's a talent you won't forget. Check out "Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This". She and Will Downing kill this vocal. "With Open Arms" is fire too.
Jack, if you want to go down the rabbit hole of 80s artist who can SANG, you have to react to Mimi Howard: Come share my love Baby be mine Love under new management Imagination That’s what love is feat. Gerald Levert 🔥🔥🔥🔥
She is one of the best underrated artists of her time. She's a producer, composer, writer, and singer...most of those talents are displayed all on one song! My mama is definitely thee G.O.A.T...glad you enjoyed her music 😉 BTW: Her other child showed her this and I think she was trying to comment on here but was unsure how to.
In 2003 Angela was diagnosed with ovarian cancer ,And was told she may never sing again. But God works miracles and she made a full recover and has been cancer free every since .Oh and the voice is strong as ever .
I've been listening to this woman sing for a lot of years now and every time she goes 'up top', the upper range, I still get goosebumps. Her range is astounding and I feel she was so under appropriated and didn't get the recognition she deserved, not only as a vocalist, but also as a song writer
Thank you so much for the shout out! Wait till you hear the album version, it's like a lil over a min longer and what she does will again change how you already love it. Like you said like we all say, they don't make em like Angela no more. Song writer, producer, she plays instruments (including the keys you hear on this & I'll be good) and has that many octaves! I think she said she was trained in singing Opera in college & mixed that with being in church & school choirs. She's a force. She, Anita, Sade, Whitney, Regina Belle, & Miki Howard are the best singers that came out of the 80s. I'd add Teena Marie, Natalie Cole & Stephanie Mills but they came out in the 70s.
She wrote , produced and arranged the song, backgrounds v's and all! 'Angela was the only female producer in R&B from that era! ALL of her projects are phenomenal!
Hey Jack great reaction. Angela wrote her lyrics she was a phenomenal songwriter as well as singer. Please don't forget to react to Yarborough and Peoples Don't Stop the Music and also O'Bryan Lovelite as well as Gap Band Burn Rubber for the 80's
Angela Winbush is an extremely talented singer and songwriter. She was at one time married to Ronald Isley of The Isley Brothers. I highly recommend: 1. I'll be good 2. Run to me 3. No more tears 4. Treat U rite
Miguel: Sure Thing, Adorn, How Many Drinks, Waves ft. Travis Scott, Skywalker, Beautiful ft. Mariah Carey, Do You..., Vixen J. TLC Wale: On Chill, Lotus Flower Bomb ft. Miguel, Pretty Girls ft. Gucci Mane, Bad ft. Tiara Thomas, The Matrimony ft. Usher, That Way ft. Jeremih

I WOULD'VE ATTEMPTED TO WARN YOU ABOUT THIS TRACK "WHICH FEATURED ANGELA WINBUSH'S SINGING PROWESS. CHECK THE YEAR THIS SONG CAME OUT AND WHO WAS CLIMBING THE CHARTS TOGETHER REGULARLY....FOR AWHILE.
