This song is a masterpiece. From the way those piano notes that are the core of the song, the way they descend just like when a person breaks down. Also, the bird chirp and all of Mariah's creative vocal runs. The part I really live for is when she sings those "Cry-a-ay-y, cry-a-ay-y's" at the end of the song. I love the harmony on that part and it how it keeps it going infinitely.

I think they mean Mariah heavily influenced rap singing by introducing this song to the world. It wasn't really a thing b4. The Melody is very rappish but the vocals are very intricate. Bey does the exact same thing. It's not saying they sound alike but it takes nothing away from Bey to admit Mariah didn't have a template for how to rap sing She is the template. Bey had a template to go off of and create her own style of rap singing.
