Jim Baird - 11 Days Solo Wilderness Camping in the Arctic Watershed - Making Distance and Food From the Land: Deep backcountry camping on a remote Northern Ontario river I awake for Walleye fishing. Packing my food barrel I solo paddle my canoe to my next wild campsite where I do a spome over the fire cooking and discuss food from the land. Wilderness teckniques and traditional skills are used to catch clean and cook the fish as well as to solo rapids and haul over a log jam. I share some tips on how to close my drybag before leaving camp that morning too and along the way, I see a very interesting moose blind and some wildlife as well as I push to make distance.
On this trip, I'm prepared with proper outfitting, including trail tape and ready to canoe whitewater and portage. This film series is about bushcraft survival in the woods where I’m truly alone in the wild, exploring and fishing Northern Ontario by canoe. Beginning on a remote river I reach via a forest access road, I solo wilderness travel to reach the advanced level whitewater of the North French River. I then paddle on the Moose River, completing the trip some 330 kilometres later in the community of Moosonee where I catch the Ontario Northland Polar Bear Express train. On this adventure, I solo rapids, catch Walleye and Northern Pike, trek, paddle and camp. What’s better than catching wild fish for a catch and cook over the fire in the wilderness? I also find a remote, trapper’s cabin, run multiple whitewater rapids, undertake long, bushwhack portages and see a lot of wildlife including Moose sightings.

So many great quotes in this episode... “filet and release”... “hunger is the best seasoning”.... “my Olde English is about as bad as my French” ...(BTW, my vote is for ‘loathsome’) loved the whole thing. Such a beautiful river. Appeared to be a great campsite. And the sound of the fish sizzling... mmmm. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and share with us.

Just want to reach out and thank you for sharing your adventures with us subscribers. I look forward to tuning in to all your paddling and fishing adventures Jim. I personally am not physically able to go on these type of adventures anymore as I used to when I was younger, so I get to live them through you. I can only hope you continue to keep providing me and others like myself this wonderful content to watch for many years to come. Again Thank You! Im from western Massachusetts and have extremely limited walleye (pickerel) water to fish, and must say I would have loved to been at that fire enjoying that catch because I know what a delicacy they are to eat....
