can't disagree more, this video has provided some great ideas on efficient ways to do things, a great example being the sleeve for the SSD which is a no-worry & efficient since it's just getting carried on with your laptop. I definitely found use in it. to each their own though.
Definetely one of the most asthetic and useful pleasing desk setups I have seen in a while with a lot of honest opinions! My personal favourite upgrade would definetely be the standing desk, since the covid I got moved to working at home and having to spend closely to 12 hours a day sitting down has been very hard and I feel it in my body, unfortunately I could never manage to afford a desk like this. Anywho, keep up the videos I love the way you speak!!
Thanks! From one guy who spends too many hours sitting in front of a screen to another... I highly recommend looking up "Pigeon stretch", "Lying leg cross stretch", and stretches for the Quadratus Lumborum. I stand as much as possible at the desk, but obv still end up sitting a majority of the time. These stretches will help combat muscle tightness and back pain that comes with sitting 🤝
Thank you, Chris! My girlfriend and I both work from home and I love the focus on WFH upgrades. I know we both would love the dock for both our computers.
Really like the clean look. Allows you to focus. Some items caught my attention: OrbitKey Nest allows for an aesthetic layer of organization and Kuxiu 3-In-1 Wireless Charger is a great compact charger. Both are grab and go wich to me is a must in a setup Great video with good tips.
The thing I love about the mx keys and other low profile keyboards is that, even after several thousand hours using them, I haven't ever felt like a wrist rest was needed. It also helps that the chair's arms articulate perfectly to align with the edge of any desk, so your arms can rest seamlessly from the arm rests to the keyboards
There are ergonomic pads that some people use while standing and swear by the benefits of them. I've tried them and don't understand the hype though @@jose.sanchezj
M.2 SSD prices are at a low point on price currently! With gen 4 (or even gen 5) that has MUCH higher write speeds then any external ssd, they are hard to pass up on. Have to be able to install them in your laptop or pc (so no Macs). But I just thought labelling internal SSD upgrades as overpriced couldn't be further from the truth if you have a windows tower. I just recently got a 2 TB gen 4 M.2 SSD for a little over $100
I've tried stacked monitors before. It always seems to cause some uncomfortable viewing angles. My guess is you will be looking at the big monitor a lot more than the small one. Just put the big monitor at a comfortable viewing angle (a little below eye level) and the other smaller monitor (laptop) to the side. If you invested in a nice kb and mouse, why do you have your laptop on that angled bracket? Trying to make room for that giant desk pad? I try to get my monitors, peripherals (MnK) in a good location then use whatever space you have left for plants, lamps, knickknacks. Just my opinion after trying a number of setups myself. Good luck.
I ordered the largest desk pad size that fit perfectly on my deeper desk, but it's admittedly a little large for this one. The laptop stand elevates the screen enough to where the screen, as well as the monitor, are in perfect alignment with my eyes, so it has worked out well!
I like the info on the Orbit Key chair. I just went through a very expensive Herman Miller and it just did not give me the support or flexibility I need.
Great video! Will definitelu=y get some stuff from here, first up the chair! I had been looking endlessly for exactly that. One suggestion though, the keyboard.. try out the logitech ergo k860 . If you have any issues at all with backpain.. this is the way
Can i know sir why havent upgrade to mac os sonoma as i am seeing you have a powerful macbook air m2 series and i have macbook air m1 base 8 gb still updated to latest version of sonoma is it that i am wrong here or any performance side related ? 🤔🤔
Lol it seems i either have the items you suggested or working up to them. Also obdbot tiny2 is slightly better then the link 360 camera that you recommend 😉
Niiiice definately picked some ideas but... 1- how much did this entire upgrade cost? 2- You are too organised, i would be scared using your desk, lest i mess up and cause offense🙈
The accessory that'd help me the most would be the Insta360 Link webcam, since it would enable me to start live streaming at a much higher quality. The CalDigit TS4 also seems incredibly useful though! @BreakBubbles
Want to know your thoughts on fake vs. real plants in your workspace. Is it the extra oxygen/CO2 absorbed in your space or just a psychosomatic response? 🤷♂️ @BzBirdz or @Dzinbrain
Most of the literature I've read points to improved air quality, increased O2 concentration in the air, reduced stress levels, and a boost in creativity (due to the color green). Fake plants have their appeal and can offer the latter benefit, but obv lack the improvements in air quality. IMO, pick up a couple snake plants. They're extremely low maintenance, visually appealing, and offer the same benefits as other maintenance-heavy plants.
@SethParker.Creative I love my Autonomous disk! I've had it for like 5 years now. Best purchase I've had for my desk. That being said, I do need a new seat. that ErgoTune Chair looks like it would help a ton!
@@Christomshackthe legs are white, and I actually got a beech wood tabletop from IKEA to match some other stuff that I had at the time. Super solid setup.
@kerem.ozer Great video, Chris. I just moved to a new house and will set up an area for the home office. I just love those adjustable desks and that SmartDesk Pro looks amazing.
I bet a lots of men would happily swap with me because I'm 6.4", but it is more of a curse than a benefit as it comes to full time remote work. As an adjustable desk is already in use, my next investment would be the ErgoTune chair! Thank you for collecting and sharing all your experiences! Greetings from a namesake from Hungary! @fordoskrisz
I'm 6'1" and there is still a TON of height adjustments that can be made with this ergotune chair. It would fit you great! Thanks for watching and commenting 🤝
Man the standing desk could definitely a game changer for me. Especially after you mentioned that sitting is slowly killing us, I now feel like I need a standing desk even more. Even though I stay pretty active outside of school, Idk if that's enough. Hopefully I will be able to afford one in the near future. Cheers!! @anh.vuong Edit: I have the same power strip and also 3D taped it to my table lol
Terrific video with great ideas for a killer WFH setup. Love the webcam and have been eyeballing it for a while now! Keep up the great work! @gerrysmith74
I'm in Canada, does anyone know WHERE I can buy this chair. I'm starting a new work from home job and I NEED THIS CHAIR. Please, someone give me a suggestion for a website ior something..
Chris would probably do well doing videos on fitness and his home, both of which look pretty impressive. Why out all eggs in tech basket? That’s what playlists are for 😊
I love your content man, I love how straight to the point you are. and you actually have no bs recommendations. with everything you do. your new mac set up and productivity apps changed my life. thank you for everything you do keep it rolling bro.
Does the mac setup run smoothly when displaying to an external monitor? Because I have tried the same with my Lenovo Ideapad flex 5 but the display is slightly laggy (hdmi to hdmi). I can see a bit of the flickering when I scroll through RU-vid or some other websites.
I think I'm the only one in the industry without a mechanical keyboard too 😂 I have a 4K BenQ PD2706UA for creative work, but prefer the ultrawide for coding & general use 🤷🏻♂️
It's from a company called Mount-It. I've had it for more than a handful of years and it still looks/works like new! If interested, here's a link: geni.us/Q9vQ
Aside from the desk, grovemade desk mat. Desk Mat or even your mx keys can change the entire feel vibe aesthetics of your setup since it sits underneath everything. Once you remove it, your entire desk looks different
Solid suggestions, thanks Chris! I think that chair was calling my name. 6'4" and a lower back that isn't great would love a better office chair like the Ergotune. Thanks again for the suggestions. @tdcampbell
