Man, the eighties and nineties were a goldmine of great shows! They had action, incredible animation, and amazing storylines and characters! Each one of these science fiction, fantasy, and action series is worthy of being revived, remade, and rebooted for audiences who are starving for quality animated shows today!
The 90s was the best era of animation in general in western cartoons. Gargoyles,Batman Tas,XmenTas,Animaniacs,MightyMax, Bobbys world,Hey Arnold,Mummies Alive, Pirates of Dark water,King Arthur and Knights of Justice .etc. So many well made classic shows. Half of which got cancelled due to idiotic executives putting them in bad time slots or bad merchandise deals.
*If your'e passionate about it, put together a group and buy the old shows and make new episodes.* *I've always wanted to buy that show with the two black crows and make episodes of them getting f'ed up.*
100% man! We had such great cartoons in the 90s. I grew up with both 80s and 90s cartoons, and retuns of stuff from the 60s and 70s, but the 90s were the absolute best. Kids today will never know the sheer awesomeness of 90s cartoons. Sure some cartoons since 2000 have been decent, but theyll never compare to what we had in the 90s. I honestly think cartoons shifted as Japanese cartoons became more popular... Western companies decided to let Japanese cartoons be better. Parents can throw a fit at disney or cartoon network for violence if they dont do anything remotely interesting, while kids over toddler age get their fill of shows worth watching from anime.
@The Resurrection of Samuel Adams He was! I get why people like Modo and Vinnie but Throttle was so freaking cool and I felt he was underrated compared to the other two.
Most of these cartoons suffered from the same fate, being aired to early in the morning. Even if you wanted to watch it as a kid you still had to rely on your parents waking you up early enough, and even if you woke up early enough you had to keep yourself awake through the whole show. Cartoons like Spiderman or Batman figured it out and aired after you came home from school. That's why they are the most remembered.
How was “The Pirates of Dark Water” NOT on this list? Such a great show with an awesome premise and well ahead of its time. With the popularity of Anime and many of its show’s long-form storytelling, I think if “Pirates of Dark Water” came out today it would find a good audience of fans, such as another American show heavily influenced by Anime, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”.
I feel I'm the only one in the world who remembers in the early 90s a show called Mighty Max. It was ahead of it's time and yet has been forgotten by it and everyone else. Such ashame because it had a badass cast, animation and stories.
Oh my,...Biker Mice from Mars was awesome. They knew they were a TMNT rip off and didn't care, even from the very first episode when Modo says to Charley: -"You were expecting turtles maybe?" Ah,... the good ol' childhood!
When I was a kid I made a 1,5 meter height Modo drawing. I liked his cyber arm. Let's rock...and RIDE! In Polish it was: Niech gra muzyka i gaz do dechy!
Anyone else remember the Men in Black cartoon made by the same animation team behind the Godzilla cartoon? I remember it being quite scary and violent for kids.
Men In Black cartoon is on DVD and was under animation team behind 2004's The Batman and Jackie Chan Adventures. M.I.B. is owned under Marvel since 1996.
Yeah they even had a movie tier recurring villain; Agent A Former MIB that now goes around harvesting alien organs and grafting them to himself in an effort to become immortal, not a bad plot line
@@AColonDashSix He's kinda half-referenced in the movie series too. MIB International's main villain is an MIB agent who grafts Alien parts onto himself.
Robert Howard's Conan is one of the best sword and sorcery heroes ever, and the vast majority of the new stories do him justice. They showed all the things you mentioned because that's what his world was like, and ib respect them for it. I'll always give a Conan story a chance, and back in the day I gave this cartoon a chance. I'm glad I did. Have a good day.
Even Youngblood was good! The stupid "Angry moms" ruined it for us when they demanded the legislators to stop airing "violent" cartoons on TV ! What a bunch of crazy hoes !

I don't understand how Image doesn't try to make a movie/series universe with Savage Dragon, Spawn, Sam & Twitch, ...
The oddest and edgiest cartoon of the 90's had to be The Tick. As an 11 year old I thought it was stupid. As an adult, I realize it's a masterpiece. Amazing that this show was played on Fox Kids Club. Totally an adult cartoon. Lol!
The Tick was crazy parody of superheroes and super villains (Chair take the cake IMO). I was around 16 when it aired in my country and was dying from laughter during every episode while my younger brother and cousins didn't get it :P
STUDIO: Go and make cartoons with dark themes ANIMATORS: What will be the scheduled timeslot? STUDIO: Right after pre-school time. ANIMATORS: What about those kid-friendly? STUDIO: About 10:00...in the evening.
Not to mention being placed in bad time blocks. If they had been scheduled right, they could have been incredible hits. Hell, the later ones might still even be running! (At least I think so!)
you forgot Gargoyles... that was one of my favs. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, the new adventures of heman, sonic the hedge hog, darkwing duck. then some edgy computer 3d anime Transformers beast wars and Reboot. we really did have the best cartoons early 90's
I remember watching the very first Episode of South Park with my Dad when it aired...he pissed himself because he was laughing so fkn hard, ill never forget that :D
The mid 80s to late 90s were a real renaissance of animation, both in film with things like the Don Bluth films and on TV with things like Spawn, the Simpsons, and cartoons like these.
@@IronMikeDyson1979 A syndicated group now known as "The Angry moms" ruined it by saying that the youth was being corrupted by the animations and they demanded the doped down legislators of the time to remove all "violent" cartoons from airing on TV! They destroyed this nice era thanks to their bantering and constant ranting ! Half of us grew upset because of that decision and to this day we see no real reasoning behind that ridiculous decision ! The hell with them !
As a 35 year old man, I still have Conan stuck in my head. Every now and then when I'm in the shower or by myself I'll loudly say "CONAN! THE MIGHTIEST WARRIOR EVER!"
Oh man, that Wildcats theme song brings back some hardcore 90s memories lol Godzilla was great, the Big Guy & Rusty show with the same animation was incredible too. The MIB series by that studio was also pretty great. Some real classics on here, Biker Mice from Mars was something else. Skeleton Warriors was my jam, those toys were so badass.
Extreme Ghostbusters had potential & should've had some of the OG Ghostbuster pop up from time to time. I'm a bit surprised B.A.D.: bureau of alien detectors wasn't on this list.
One of the things Extreme Ghostbusters did real well was have a diverse team, and touch on serious subjects while actually being a good show without forcing political messages down our throats.
@@derrickhaggard Yea, I liked the diversity. There was a: smart black guy, an adventurous handicap white guy, a comedic Hispanic guy, & a goth girl. As a kid I could never really find the show though, because it kept changing time slots. Now they're the ones who should've had a Ghostbusters "spin-off" live-action movie. But I guess in Hollyweird "diversity" today means "all women".
the 90's was the perfect time to be a fan of comics music wrestling sports sitcoms movies everything now it's all about grouping people like in school but on a global scale and people act like there to stupid to see it back then it just felt like individuality and expression had more value
Good to see you guys are giving Biker Mice the acknowledgement it deserves, truly underrated. And shoutout to WildCATS, best cartoon theme song from the 90's.
Most of these Cartoons would be good movies if done right..Been waiting to see a Biker Mice From Mars movie..And I thought when they was gonna make a Ghostbusters remake it would be based on Extreme Ghostbusters..This would be a better adoption then the last movie and the up coming one.
the original creator of Exosquad has announced that he is working on a reboot. if you want to connect with other Exosquad fans there are a couple groups on Facebook, a Discord Server and a subreddit for it.
Recently rewatched Conan the Adventurer and man that show was even better than I remembered. It sadly came out in that forgotten era of kid's shows in the late 80s and early 90s. It deserves a spot on any top 10 cartoon list.
Highlander the animated series introduced me to post apocalyptic sci fi. The music, the action, the social commentary, this show was greater than anyone gives it credit for. It still inspires me as a writer.
Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles 2003. Spiderman the animated series 1994. Were two of the best series for me personally..Cool storylines, cool fight sequences.
most cartoons that have had a short run since the 80's have just been long adverts plugging kids toys or movies , Exo-Squad is a prime example you can still find the toys in some shops.
90s were the best era for cartoons. There are great ones before and after, but as a whole the 90s are the tops. Conan's my favorite on this list, watched it every morning before school...and it was the first one I remember having a clear cut ending.
WOW.....JUST WOW! You really brought me back to my childhood with all these comics! GREAT JOB ON THE VIDEO and PLEASE PLEASE KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK! 👍👍👍👍
Exosquad does not get NEARLY enough props. That was one of the most complex animated series ever. It had MULTI-SEASON STORY ARCS. This was about as innovative for the era as the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk.
@@resurrectedhobbyist2727 Fantastic! Hopefully he can find a place to air it; these days everyone's uptight about everything. People will probably say the Neo Sapiens are supposed to gin up racist hate or some nonsense.
Brings back a lot of memories. I didn't love all these shows but I watched them all. I can even remember an episode of the 90s Incredible Hulk cartoon which took place in Chicago and featured the Limburger Tower from the Biker Mice from Mars.
Some of the coolest CGI animation from the 90's was in Blizzard's strategy game, Starcraft. Sadly it was mostly short action clips, while the exposition all happened in long static screen conversations. Still, the cutscenes were somewhat mind blowing at the time.
Man you dusted off some awesome memories ididnt even even remember I had, a few of the shows I used to love as a kid and hadn't thought about them since, great vid!!!
STILL Have My E Frame Toys from SO LONG AGO! All I could think about was Ripley in Her Power Loader.. BEST TOYS! 80-90's! GREAT VIDEO! BRINGING BACK MEMORIES!
Edge got to comeback, everything nowadays is "childish", i´m sorry but the feminist/sjw trend is too childish, and safe and booooooooring AF, there is a reason 80s and 90s cartoons still kickass, cause there was more edge, not saying that "rad" must comeback but lets leave the childish for the children is all i´m saying
Kids need edgy, so they can grow up cool. This stuff today is just straight mindlesss, it isn't even for kids, it's straight for low iq people. Even if I was a kid I wouldn't watch stuff this mindless. And the people who controls the cartoon companies now are all corrupt.
That's good.. today is not good time for creativity. I think being into "modern" kinda kills your creativity. It's all just so unoriginal, bland, and unmemorable. I swear most modern stuff after I watch it it's like I forget it immediately. Is it deliberate? Who knows? Will this effect generation's creativity? I think so.
I remember all of these series very well, except for Action Man. I vaguely remember the toy lines popping up, but none of the cartoon at all? Also, anybody else remember the UPN (possibly different local syndication) lineups of Ultraforce and Skysurfer Strike Force?
I loved watching Exo-Squad growing up even more that I consider apart my Mobile Suit Gundam collection. Ironically it suffered the same fate as the original Mobile Suit Gundam being mistargeted to a younger audience.
I fondly remember ExoSquad. Awesome show. Alas you weren't kidding about the bad timeslot. I remember watching it before school each morning, and knowing that the end credits meant I had to run out to the bustop.
I miss the Real Adventures of Johnny Quest. I used to eagerly wait for the cgi quests every episode. Absolutely loved Extreme Ghost Busters. Egon was always my favourite, so it was good to see him take the mentor role.
the 80s and 90s were the best days for cartoons, we still get some quality toons but before the 21st century came along, we had already experienced a Toon Renaissance.
Yeah, the 80s and 90s were a renaissance after decades of decline. The 2000s were kind of crappy, and then around 2010 we started seeing an improvement with things like adventure time, archer, bojack, and Rick & Morty
@@UltimateGamerCC thank God. It's kind of crazy how cartoons started out aimed at adults (seriously there were looney tunes and Disney style cartoons produced just for people in the military during WW2), then they were made for adults and kids (often airing before movies of all age brackets), but somehow despite things like the Fritz the Cat somehow cartoons became a "kids only" thing in the 60s and 70s and the stigma stuck around through the 80s until recently despite there being tons of adult animation through that whole period. Most people I know over the age of 50 wont watch anything animated unless they're keeping a little kid company or something like that.
@@arthas640 right?? like what the hell caused this ridiculous notion that cartoons were only ever for kids? i mean sure kids got into the cartoons MORE than adults, but it never was intended for just kids, it was family friendly entertainment for one and all.
Exo-Squad was the greatest animated show of the '90s and you can't convince me otherwise. I had the figure of J.T. Marsh and his "Aerial attack" E-Frame as a kid, and more recently was able to find one in great condition off eBay. I believe it was one of the earliest American shows to have a continuing storyline throughout its run. I would love to see it get picked up for a reboot by a studio that could do it justice so we can finally see what they had planned for season 3.
Other than Godzilla I literally watched and loved all of these shows when I was a kid. I had most of their toys as well. I really wish they were available on dvd or on a streaming service so I can enjoy them today. I do have Skeleton Warriors and the first season of Exosquad on dvd though.
The new adventures of Johnny quest is a CRIMINALLY underrated show. Johnny quest could use a live action remake well maybe not anymore.... in modern day America is way to sensitive and would probably cry.
I glad to say that I've seen most of these shows. I just haven't seen Extreme G.I.Joes. If you're a fan of Wild C.A.T.s from Jim Lee, than you might like to know is that another Jim Lee comic known as Gen 13 was adapted into a movie. More adult themed done in the style of D.C. animated series from the 90s.
Savage Dragon used to be DC in the late 80's and then got sold, but Savage Dragon could work in Image even with Spawn then spinoff, or Create an animae film(s) not a series.
Biker Mice From Mars was my shit. I remember watching the show when I was very little and playing with action figures of Vinnie and Moto. For years, I never knew about the comics, the SNES game or the 2006 reboot. It's so much fun rediscovering and exploring old movies, shows, games, collectibles and comics that I grew up with.
This brought back a lot of memories. Exo Squad is one of my all time favorites. But I think you may have missed one very edgy cartoon that was not for children at all "Mighty Max". may be on your next list.
So many great memories. I was in Kindergarten when Conan started to air over here in Germany and it was my favorite TV show back then. I also loved Biker Mice from Mars. I showed the 1st episodes of both shows to my 7-year old sons but they were not impressed 😅🤷♂️
I remember all these shows, this list was amazing it was like clearing out the attic, so many memories i didnt even know i had forgotten, thank you so much, liked and subscribed
Love the 1998 Godzilla series. That Godzilla came across as a character, without dialogue. Watching his strategies to defeat other monsters is always fun
