Mommy told me something A little kid should know It's all about the devil And I've learned to hate him so She said he causes trouble When you let him in the room He will never ever leave you If your heart is filled with gloom So let the sun shine in Face it with a grin Smilers never lose And frowners never win So let the sun shine in Face it with a grin Open up your heart and let the sun shine in When you are unhappy The devil wears a grin But oh, he starts to running When the light comes pouring in I know he'll be unhappy Cause I'll never wear a frown Maybe if we keep on smiling He'll get tired of hanging 'round If I forget to say my prayers The devil jumps with glee But he feels so awful awful When he sees me on my knees So if you're full of trouble And you never seem to win Just open up your heart and let the sun shine in So let the sun shine in Face it with a grin Smilers never lose And frowners never win So let the sun shine in Face it with a grin Open up your heart and let the sun shine in
I used to blast this song when I was 14 on my parents Stereo when they were on vacation with my younger Brother at the Lake (Silverlake.). I would play Pool on the Pool Table by myself in that pink dark empty house on a school night (ditching HS the next day) than would pass out watching a Beavis and Butthead Marathon. This song always bring up wonderful and lonely isolated memories ---Fox, of Fox & the Red Hares.
When i was about 4 years old i used to hear this song of frente... it was stocked to my head upvto my adult years until i found it myself maybe around 2006... from 1985 😅
This song is my favorite when I was 5 years old..Now i'm already 15 and I still love this song.Listening to this song during pandemic sure gives positive vibes to all people
Dear who reads this comment, You know what? After watching Autopsy of Jane Doe, a Brownout suddenly snaps out of the blue. I dont have a Smartphone back then to kill time so i turned on my Radio and this song was played.
My Mom taught me this song's chorus when i was little, but didn't know the source. I like this song. I will admit talking about Ol' Nick in a kids song is maybe a bit disturbing though... (Then again, I have considered the hearse song a fun catchy tune since 4th grade so...)
