Most actors who are genuinely insufferable, obnoxious or disliked, don't work. Why would anyone employ someone who is horrible? Yes, today's woke generation might dislike Wayne for his right wing views, but directors and co-stars of the day, must have considered him professional and courteous enough, or else they wouldn't have worked with him. The same goes for Rooney and Flynn. The religious zealots with Victorian morals might have sneered at them for being openly being promiscuous, but the women they were sleeping with weren't complaining. Same goes for the female stars who enjoyed sex. Who are we to judge anybody else? Especially people we've never met.
