I think that the hoglins should drop special leather than can be combined with normal leather armour in the smithing table to create reinforced leather armour slightly better than iron. This would bridge the gap between iron and diamond.

there should be blue lava and if you put it in a crafting table with 4 blue magma on the corner and the rest with iron it will make blue obsidian and with 14 of them you can light it with lavacite and it takes you to a blue nether
