I used to be fascinated by the Arabic world but unfortunately, now I see it as the official language of Islam. This wasn't always an issue to me, but when I came to learn of their attitude to atheists (which would include me), I'd rather keep as far away from them as is possible.

Maybe reconsider looking into your fascination. In life we will always come across people who's attitudes may not please us. I would never let anyone stop me from exploring, it's all sticks and stones.

I want to learn Arabic not only because it's one of the oldest and most widely spoken languages, but also because I'm Maltese and in Malta we sort of speak a dialect of Arabic but not really because it has A LOT of Italian mixed in so I want to learn the origins of my native language I use everyday.

Well done Olly, I think that the Arabic language is equal to the importance of the English and Chinese languages, and perhaps greater in other fields for many reasons. For example, if you are an entrepreneur, most of the investments in the future may be in the Arab Gulf countries, especially Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. They are countries that make new billionaires with their large projects and various investment opportunities. If you are interested in the world of politics as a diplomat or journalist, the Arabic language is important for understanding how the Arab world thinks, rather than being hostage to biased channels without understanding the other point of view. If you are interested in global history, Arab history is full of treasures to understand the history of the ancient because the Arab world is in the heart of the world and they were a bridge between the western world and China. If you are interested in poetry and literature, there is nothing more poetic, eloquent, and beautiful than the Arabic language. Ask those who delve deeper into the study of Arabic literature and learn Arabic alongside other languages. If you are interested in comparing religions, the Arabic language is very important to test the eloquence and beauty of the Holy Qur’an and challenge it if you like it, because the Qur’an still challenges those who come up with the same eloquence as the Qur’an for one surah only. Reading the Qur’an is an opportunity to understand the differences in the attributes of the Creator and the story of Jesus pbuh in the Qur’an and the difference between the stories of the prophets between the Qur’an and the Bible The Arabic language is the devotional language of a quarter of the world's population (Muslims), so you will find people who speak Arabic fluently in all countries of the world. If you are interested in the history of civilizations and antiquities, one of the most important languages for understanding and studying civilizations and antiquities is the Arabic language, because the Arabs are the ones who transferred Greek sciences to the Western world and many important civilizations and antiquities globally in the Arab world Many of the modern sciences were founded in the eras of the Islamic renaissance, and it is a wide field for understanding how some modern sciences began and developed Some believe that the Pharaonic writing is the oldest writing, although it is a phonetic writing, while the Arabs wrote the Thamudic alphabet 7000 years ago. Archaeologists find that Saudi Arabia is one of the last opportunities for new discoveries in archeology because the excavation began very late. I wrote important studies in Arabic on antiquities and civilizations in Arabic, which have not been translated into English, so this is a good field for those interested in archaeology. Many high-level job opportunities are required in the Arab Gulf countries with their innovative projects and investments. Learning the Arabic language will help you integrate into the Arab environment, understand Arab culture, and win job competitions. Learning Arabic will open horizons for you in learning the various Arabic arts that distinguish Arabs, such as the art of Islamic decoration, the art of Arabic calligraphy, the art of Al-Qat Al-Asiri, and other crafts. I find that translation into the Arabic language is one of the broad areas for publishing houses and translators because many arts, crafts, modern sciences, and research journals for various sciences have not yet been translated into Arabic, although the Arabs represent 22 countries, but the field is still poor in this subject, and it is one of the investment opportunities that need who exploits it. I agree with you, dear Olly, Islam is not just a religion, but a way of life. You may be surprised that it is not limited to rights and duties between spouses, the family, society, the economic law, the law in public morals, the law of crime, and even laws in internal hygiene. The best methodology for learning Arabic are: 1. The Book of Medina 2. Arabic at your hands series I encourage everyone to learn Arabic as a top priority among the world's languages, because it may be a path for you to a lot of knowledge, money, culture and happiness.

@@sadhbh4652 That's the thing. Arabic sits somewhere between Latin and Thai in terms of writing system difficulty. Mandarin is all the way into outer space with how difficult its writing system is. Nobody should learn a language just because a lot of people speak it and it therefore figures importantly on the worldview stage. Any language is hard or impossible to learn without the opportunity to USE it regularly. If you have the burning passion and motivation and the opportunity to use it, no language is really that hard. After all, think of how many you know who speak English, not as their first language, yet speak it fluently, except for their accent? You see this all the time in TV and radio interviews for example. I visualize Arabic about as hard as Japanese. I've been to Japan 7 times but never long enough to level up my mastery of the language. I don't use it much in between trips. Hence my knowledge of the language is really just a step up from knowing enough to get around. Also the more you get into Japanese, the more you realize you have to learn two languages in one, because the informal language is SO MUCH DIFFERENT than the informal version. In other words, in a lot of situations, there are two ways of saying something, and they can be very different. Not many languages present that kind of hurdle
@amj.composer
@amj.composer 11 месяцев назад
No language has broken my confidence as much as Japanese. I'm fluent in the language and I read manga and a lot of light novels with absolute ease. And then suddenly I pick up popular novels like 吾輩は猫である or any newspaper and I'm like "my dude I don't understand sh#t". I experience the same when watching the news or watching a historical anime or something. Tue feeling sucks lol. That being said, I want to learn arabic really badly but the brokej confidence I get with Japanese gives me so much anxiety.

For me Arabic poetry slaps harder than a rap diss song . For eg Al-Mutanabi's insane boast about how his poetry makes the blind see and his words make the deaf hear is one of the most batshit boasts I've ever seen 😂 Name me one English poet or rapper who has that level of arrogance 😅

Why do people believe ,Muslims speak in curses or magic ...why did God create different languages was it a blessing or to confuse????The Quran was written in Arabic for understanding so that arabs will understand....The language itself is not holy the Quran is the words are holy words be it in Arabic or English......I for one stay from holiness in this dunya???Every human in this dunya are sinners even those who teach...like Noah,David and Solomon.....So why do shieks,imams,preachers,rabbis ..... believe they are holy...

This is for everyone who wants to know the truth: Dialects are for the ignorant and thugs only, while the standard language is for the elite, even English has a standard language and it also has dialects called "Slang", the only difference is that the English people are wise while the Arabs are ignorant, the Arabic dialects are used by ignorant people who spend most of their time in Streets to cause harm to others, their dialects are like their mannerisms, they are rude, vulgar, and impudent, with many vulgar words and sexual overtones, so the ignorant common people love these dialects, and they hate Standard Arabic because the standard language is concerned with culture, books, and technology, so I will ask this question: What is the use of communication With ignorant people who love to hurt you?! If this is the case, then mixing with them is reprehensible, and it is better to stay with books (and as I said earlier, Standard Arabic represents books and culture). On the other hand, you benefit from Standard Arabic and its alphabet, being the easiest in the world. I am from the Arab East and I can understand Arabic dialects (I do not like Arabic dialects, I love Standard Arabic, but just to clarify the matter) I can understand even the Algerian and Moroccan dialects, and in the end it must be said that this is not just an opinion, but a reality.

There are many false claims in this video 1. If you speak Arabic 'in streets of Tehran' nobody understands you. Iran is NOT an Arabic country. 2. Leili and Majnoon is a Persian book by Nezami Ganjavi, a Persian Poet of the 13th century. Nothing to do with Arabic. 3. A woman singing unveil has nothing to do with Islam. Actually it is in many way contradicts Islamic dogmas. Sounds more an advertising video sponsered by the bloody Sheikh.

Point 1 and 3 are just irrelevant. As for the second, the original story along with the poetry that goes with it, is about Leyla and Qais (or majnoon Leyla as he later got known) her cousin who happened to be a poet madly in love with her. The couple were in love but her father was against the relationship and their marriage. Qais literally goes mad (hence the nickname Majnoon: mad) and starts reciting love poems spreading all over the desert of Arabia among the tribes and beyond like Persia and India. Reading a bit of history wouldn't hurt mate.

I immediately caught the bit about Tehran. My question is, wouldn't people have some knowledge of classical Arabic as used in the Quran.? Seems they would be able to recite prayers in Arabic but that's about it. But yes, expecting to use Modern Standard Arabic there would be akin to expecting to use it in Istanbul.

All Olly said about Tehran is that it's one of many beautiful places in the Middle East. And it is. So what's the problem? Iran might not be an Arab country, but there most certainly are Arabic speakers there - specially in the south, people who speak the Khuzestani dialect.
@4hereyez

@@jmwild22 Well said. My guess is Blank Slate is either a natio nalist "Persian" or someone who's bia sed (the tone of the comment) aga inst Arabs. There are sadly some individuals, groups or sections of society in Iran with rac ist views or "supe riority complex" thing in their head. But many especially the new generation and those living in Europe have learned a lot from the societies they live in and moved with the time. As you said there are about 5 to 6 million Arabs living in south-west (khuzestan or Ahwaz) of Iran, and also there are Iranians who speak some Arabic. I have many progressive thinking Iranian friends who acknowledge and support multicultural multilingual Iran. By the way, I myself am a British citizen of middle eastern Iranian origin fluent in both Arabic and Persian and love both languages and the cultures as much as I love English, my main communication language, but I don't know why am here! 😂 . Thx for sharing.

Hi there 'BlankSlate'. This isn't accurate. The Persian poem Leili and Majnun is based on an ancient Arabic-Bedouin legend, Layla and Majnun. Nezami adapted the Arabic story for his Persian poem. Also, this video isn't about Islam, it's about a language - a very widely-spoken one.
