Here's a correction, their uniforms aren't red because it was the cheapest and only available colour, it's because they are also known as the redcoats, their uniform is based off the redcoats, look at the paintings from the battle of Waterloo, same uniform
@@potato_person it is not elite… this is like the least elite role in the army. Worst job in the army aswell. You are probably an ex guardsman to put that comment.

No the hardest thing is getting bombed and shot at in war zones these ceremonial duties are only half of what they do they are real soldiers and they do get deployed overseas
I know they guard the Queen and royal palaces but their official title is the Brigade of Guards not The Queens Guard. Not so sure about the height requirement being enforced in the past, my father served in the Scots Guards back in the late ‘50s early ‘60s and he was barely 6 feet tall. Another point is these men are not ceremonial troops, they are regular Army Infantry soldiers who carry out these ceremonial duties in addition to their normal infantry role.
The other mistake in the video was regarding the red colour. When the London regiment are on deployment, Regiments from other parts of the UK perform their ceremonial duties. The guards wearing the grey coats are normally from Scotland.
Some corrections and info.. 1) The Queen's Guard are called Guardsmen 2) They are soldiers. They are arguably one of the big four being, Gurkhas, Royal Marines, Paras and the Household Division. They fight hard, are well trained and led. They are respected by the other divisions in the army. 3) They are known as "wooden tops" due to the colour of their berets 4) They used to run the drill course for the army. 5) Their officers are usually aristocracy and wealthy and are known as "Ruperts" 6) What they don't know about cleaning, ironing, polishing, washing, marching and "being tidy" is not worth knowing 7) They are not cute, furry, bunny wunnies. The rifles are loaded, the bayonets are razor sharp and they can use both... Hope this adds to your film
Its cruel that people make them laugh because they do probably the most hardest job there is and they lose the weekly money to some fool who made them laugh
TIMESTAMPS: Can they speak? 0:33 They have to faint according to protocol 0:59 They can't have a bathroom trip 1:38 No nose picking, no scratching an itch 2:00 When do they wear long grey coats? 2:34 They can't smile 3:18 Why they hate hot weather 3:58 How much their bearskin hats weight 4:28 How to become one of the Queen's guard 5:27 Why their jackets are red 6:07 Do they have fun? 6:37
guard: bad pay, no smiling, no breaks, n talking, no moving, if u gotta go, u go right there me: Y R U DOING THIS JOB???! edit: y'all r coming at me with some waay to serious replies, tho I'm always happy to learn about other cultures, ty for informing me!
Well, it is considered a HUGE honor and they also have protection from the law meaning they can do some crimes while on active duty like shooting someone because they couldn't tolerate him
Those tourists who not only follow instructions of not touching them or keeping the way clear for them to pass, but those tourists who do all sorts of nonsense things to break their stance.
A few years ago, I was at the tower of London visiting from Scotland and there was this man who had a cast on his leg but only one crutch, he didn’t realise he was in the way of the guards so they shoved him really hard and he fell on the floor... :(
You forgot this when the guards Take the risk to do anything to they armour wear thingies They get locked in the dugeon for 7 DAYS in the QUEENS WALK OR MORE WITH ONLY WATER! NO FOOD! and you will immediately get fined of 23M DOLLARS
I live in England too, but no one in my family was ever a queen's guard because the rule are WAY to harsh😑 Plus I'm not Evan tall 💂🤣 Edit:thx for the likes guys have a great day 👌❤️
They purposely push people who are unable to get out of their way for whatever reason, including those people being badly injured or unable to move so they more than deserve it
@@belivuk2526 What are you rambling on about, the guards don't purposely push people, they are not permitted for any reason to break ranks, and too often people think it's amusing to try to block the Guards path or wait until they are on top of them to take pictures, and by the way when possible they are always given a warning "make way for the queens guard" is what we would shout out at the top of our lungs, at which point if they don't move or they're somewhere they aren't supposed to be then that's on them, not the Guards.
Although this is just common sense, this video shows us that tempting as it maybe, still do not make fun or prank the Queen's Guard. Their job is difficult on its own.
My dad once made a guard laugh Bc once when my big sister was talking a pic in front of one my dad said look he is coming to stab u so she screamed and fell on the floor so he giggled
The whole “ they can’t speak “ thing Is all bogus because once a nice guard said to my dad ‘ hey you should move because they have all the rights to trample on you.’
