Acoustic guitar player for 25 years here. I just inherited my wife's uncle's mandolin, and have had a desire to learn for years. This is a very helpful video. Now if I can just get past my "tiny fretboard/huge hands" issue, lol.
Been playing guitar for years as well. Got a mandolin and have just been doing chromatic exercises to get used to the scale of the instrument. It is quite an adjustment when you're used to having more real estate between your fingers. I think these exercises will help. They are boring and un-musical, but they work.
@@DouglasOwnbey Yeah, but he threw in some flashy licks and intros that make you feel good about your success when you play them. An ego booster, if you will. And he did it in 6 minutes. Good video for somebody seeking inspiration for his new mandolin.
@@MicahFoxxMusic So you're saying he's playing the b7 and 5th to make the chord D7? And the same for G7? Just playing b7 and 5th to make the chords. Leaving out the root and third?
