Nice demonstration Will. I have not come across this type of lesson earlier. Is this similar or a variation to "Gruha Bheda" in the Carnatak tradition? I think if the Murchana is played by using the same notes and moving one at a time, it will give rise to different ragams instead of the primary scale Shankarabharanam which the Murchana is played in. Please demonstrate if you can. Thanks. Best
@@WillMarsh Hi Will, I found a link to the demonstration of Graha (Gruha) bheda here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3awTVmAVHOI.html Another demonstration of Murchana in the Hindusthani system with the Raga Abhogi: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eeGbMsR1N6Y.html The murchana on R of Abhogi gives a different raga. I think it sounds like Valaji or Kalavati in Hindustani. Though these days we tend to distinguish as carntak / hindusthani music, I think these are the part of the same ocean of Indian classical music. Look forward to listening more of your music on the web and to meet you some day! Best
