+Tyler X 2:45 Alternatively, you can turn ON "Don't initialize controls automatically" under F10>General>Advanced. You know, if you get tired of constantly deleting initialized controls.
I really want to speak out my appreciation for your channel man. Although I know most of what your video's are teaching, I can really tell you are putting in very hard work and dedication. This must be like heaven for beginning producers. And hell, even I picked up new little things from some of your video's. Keep up that good work!
+Tantu Beats I've subscribed to you before, knowing how good you are I'll take your word for it. I've been on this channel for a bit but now I'll be here for good
+Tantu Beats... Word, right? I'm with you. I 'do' still receive many 'tips' as I call'em, but nothing really ever about actual production and yeah, many of these pointers and tips I know as well, but still... Even still, +Busy Work Beats just blew my mind, bro hahah esp with that smart search and F2/F3 function lmao. I second your comment. TOM EP
Hey bro, Just wanted to let you know how much I TRULY APPRECIATE all of your videos. Ive been playing and trying to write music for a long time, however I am a complete NEWBIE when it comes to this DAW stuff... your videos are opening my eyes to the creative possibilities available in FL Studio and as a result I am excited about learning how to the DAW in order to express my creativity. THANK YOU for helping to set me free to be ME!!!
One more tip that has helped me a lot: Right click on a sample that's dragged into the timeline and click ''make unique''. That way you can make it a sample on it's own and edit it, without affecting the original.
O.M.G. This should be the official video on FL Studios website. I'm coming from working in Pro Tools HD and figured FL Studio might help speed up my production process and after watching several tutorials, nothing helped as much in the short amount of time as this one. You are a great teacher too, not everyone can communicate ideas in a clear and concise manner like you too. Kudos and I look forward to seeing more of your tutorials!
Thanks for making this, man. I've been using FL 9 for years and recently upgraded to 12. It's a bit of a different beast - great tutorial for those who are both new and seasoned
Just Want to say you are the most helpful brother out there. I am able to get this sound inside of me out into the world, because of your teachings. Very easy to follow and I only hope they are paying you. Your awesome brother and I wish you all the best my-Realla
do you know what would be pretty cool? taking beats made by audience members and -brutally mocking them- showing them where they've slipped up/made mistakes, and easy ways to correct those mistakes.
Great video! i learned some new things. But, Quick Tip, its easier to reverse your swing theory. for instance, instead of increasing swing on the channel rack and then tuning each instrument's swing meter, you can do the opposite and just turn up the swing meter on the instrument you want to tune, while leaving the channel rack's swing meter at default or 0
Daevon Moore I was thinking the same thing, but it looks like the amount of swing is dictated by amount of swing on the step sequencer. The knob on each instrument will be turned up all the way whenever the swing meter on the sequencer is moved just slightly.
Very humbled by your videos. I consider myself a decent rapper but only a subpar sample based producer. I have a bit of fl knowledge but I'm inspired and humbled by what you know and your willingness to share. Thank you
Thank you for the video, dude! You explain things very well! Your english accent is clear and even though I'm not a native talker, I've got everything you've said! Great work! Keep on! Cheers from Brasil!
hi you what ...you're a great teacher i really like the way you teach.just started using fl studio last month l got your beginers guide and man am on the go through your teachings thanks alot .just help me to get it all done
This inspired me to upgrade from 11 to 12... and wow what a difference. I figured it'd be pretty much the same but it's obv so much better. I'll be looking for more of your videos to help me out!
I am only about 25% into Fl 12. I Fl 10 more than four years ago and I let it sit until recently because it seem to me too complicated. The display was disencouraging. For two days I have looked at video tutorials by FL and I must say that this video is the best one that I have viewed and thoroughly understood. Succinct articulation was the key factor. They should this video host record the tutorials for all of them. Thanks
Just found your video. I didn't know a few of those 11 things. I've learned much and appreciate that you took the time to put this together. Thank you!
+Jake Williams I'd love that too. Earl is the goat. But I feel like his style is so diverse that you can't fit a certain style, like from the earl tape to doris to IDLSIDGO every thing is different.
I will watch the rest of the video but you are an absolute life saver. I had accidentally left my session record enabled, made a crapload of changes and then became SO frustrated when things started randomly muting, changing volume and soloing. Trick #2 helped me fix that. THANK YOU! I was getting so upset :'( Guys: Make sure you have your record button set to DISARM ON STOP.
Excellent tutorial fam! You probably already know but You can add all the instruments to the mixer at once. Go to the channel rack Double click next to one of the Channels so that they all turn green and are selected. Then go to the mixer and right click on insert 1. Under channel routing choose the second option "Route selected channels starting from this track" It will throw ALL the instruments into the mixer at the same time. In older versions of FL i think it says "Link all channels starting from this track" its a little different but does the same thing.
Just wanted to thank you for all the lesson I learned form this channel... Really made me stay working with hope and I can hear the improvement. I had a problem Ive been running into for a while which is my DAWS freezing in the middle of my project... Im not sure why that happens. I used MPC, and FL.. it happens mostly when im adding an effect or another instrument. I use windows 10, and its the DAWS program that freeze, not the computer. Im sure im messing up somewhere.
i don't mean to become a music producer or nothing as such, it's just maybe gonna become a hobbie or a leisure activity but gosh your explanation of the program was amazing, it's a huge help for everybody who intends to use it. I'd really like to say thank you sir, thank you !
nice video man, this is a must watch for all new comers to FL Studio. I myself have been producing EDM in FL Studio for 10+ years now and I watched this to see if there was anything i didnt know in your list of 11 things and the only thing was the swing mix level under the wrench tool. I never really use swing for the exact reason you mentioned, now I can use it. thanks! just goes to show you that even if you think you know everything you can always learn more.
I wish that someone did this for Maschine. You have FL Studio locked down. JFILT has the MPC 2000xl tutorials locked down. You two inspire me to do my thing with music. I learn so much from you videos. I learn MAD tips from JFILT. I come from the hardware boom bap machines so I relate to him a lot more than you and FL. But you are really swaying me toward software based music production. I watch your jawn every single day of the week. I fall asleep and wake up I to your videos. Keep them coming my friend. Peace.
Dude, you inadvertently showed me something I have looked all over the help files for, how to change the tempo. Although, it might have helped if I had searched for tempo instead of beat. Thanks.
Big ups for this tutorial video! I've been using FL for 5+ years and i still learned a couple of shortcuts from watching this LOL.. Keep up the great work my mann. Definitely gonna be a wonderful lesson for beginners, especially with some of these updates in FLS 12
actually to make it easier for u, u don't have to expand the automation to have more space, just drag the last point and it will automatically expand as u go, also another thing, click ALT + Del on your keyboard to delete the selected channel(s), and CTRL + SHIFT + Del to delete selected pattern
Hit damn near every question I had... Game you are a beast and I appreciate ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS!!! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! I stay subscribed on your website lol.
Sidechains. Older versions did not automatically output to master and could be used to silently feed effects. I found the ability to disconnect a channels master output was the solution. But only in certain views, compact shows all.
Don't forget to upload part 2 of "nexus secrets and tricks" ;D I really enjoyed the first one. I really like some of your sound packs... but where do u get em' ?? :)
My volume kept resetting in a project the other day, even though I had deleted the automation, it irritaded the crap out of me lol. But now I know why :) great tip man!
To remove the automation you could also delete the old automation + automation clip, set a new tempo, create a new automation out of that and delete it again. It will always stay at the latest deleted automation.
wow man fl studio has changed alot since the 09 version back when I was using it. I'm getting back into the music game and wanted to know more about the new version and this helped alot. I'm looking forward to make good music out of this. Thanks alot!
Hey don't forget to do a video explaining the typing keyboard to piano options (including chord map) also please show me where the option to split pattern into multiple tracks is located in FL 12. Thanks BwB
Dude... That F2/F3 smart search function is dope. Thanks. I just smarted my way through slaving Reason through FL 12.4 or whatever version I have. Anyway, I keep forgetting how I got it working but I know it was from that guy "Slaving Reason to FL - the smartest way" and he's all fast and cocky in it, like too fast, "this is only for smart people" but whatever... It was easiest video on that specific task lol But, bro. I've gotten a lot of tips from you. Thanks. I'm not really one for the song layouts that came with that free stuff but those are great for non-musicians getting into music. So, that's cool. Anyway... You're busy (pun intended) so I'll leave you with another thank you and do you make any music personally/professionally on the side? We all do, I don't care if you consider yourself a teacher firstly... I guarantee you've got something somewhere. Don't make me dig it up, bro hahahaha -- TOM EP
Wow. And that "3 main inserts" on the playlist. Unreal. So many times I've gotten like, I wouldn't say lost, but like just like wtf-type frustrated. "Wait... How did this happen?" type thing. But yeah. I know how to delete events and such but thanks for that playlist tip.
Jesus... Next time I'll watch the whole video before commenting. Every single 1 of these are beautiful. You don't deceive at all in your titles. That's sweet. I just learned so many stupid little things that get me through a project faster.
+mac0285 Yeah the mouse wheel can control almost anything that has options when you hover over it. I use it a lot to scroll through the browser as well.
awesome vid! thanx! 1) do you know how to QUICK delete effects from mixer? 2) how to quickly re arrange plugins in mixer's inserts? up-down from drop down menu is very slugish (
hey busy works beats im from india and i watch your tutorials they are really helpful and full of knowledge about music and some other stuff .. could u pls make a tutorial on how to use fm8 full tutorial on fm8 ..
this video is so comforting to me :D :D :D very informative on so many details, thanks 100%... not only are the things you mentioned here good shortcuts for alot of things; you express them well
CORRECT WORD IS DESELECT. AND YOUR VOCABULARY IS FINE. VOCAB IS THE WORDS YOU KNOW, YOUR GRAMMAR IS LACKING THAT IS THGE WAY YOU USE THE WORD. EITHER WAY WE ARE MUSICIANS THE WAY YOU SPEAK WITH YOUR MUSIC IS BRILLIANT.
cool to know you can adjust individual channels with the swing function, but i feel like its kind of a lazy tool. i think its better to offset each note in the piano roll if you want a swung feel because you have way more control.
just thanks you! for doing daw with fl stido since fl3, i feel stupid not knowing that damn tempo automation extra deleting thing in the "current prohect" #priceless , i can now fix one Flp i thought was lost for ever !
swing doesn't affect the snare in this example, only the odd sixteenth notes are affected, effectively moved closer to the next even sixteenth by the amount set on the swing-slider. so, the swing-mix knob wouldn't do anything to the snare timing. you could observe this in older versions by converting a stepseq to piano roll with the swing turned on.. ( up until 11 i think). great work still, just saying :)
You are correct, Program Files is 64 bit, and Program Files (x86) is 32 bit. You can confirm this by installing a program that you know is 64 bit and installing it where ever it automatically wants to install to and it SHOULD now be found in Program Files, not Program Files (x86).
Great workarounds! I had all the problems you cover. They can be frustrating. FL Studio has a freaky and difficult to use user interface (UI). Why can't FL Studio make it easier?? I sometimes work in Mixcraft because it's so much easier to use than FL studio even though Mixcraft is overall an inferior DAW. It's not just FL Studio has more features ... it's just wacky how they bury key features in totally obscure hot keys and menues. Please FL Studio product managers: Address the weird UI issues in this tutorial. Just copy Mixcraft's UI design if you have to. Having whined about it ... This tutorial hits the bulls eye. Nice!
Thanks, some of those things were tripping me up a little. Great video. Now for a question :) Say you route all your percussion through the mixer, so kicks, snares, hats etc.. all have their own slider like you showed here. Is there then a way to have a "global" slider for the entire percussion? For example, if I have my kick on 80%. snare on 60% and hat on 40% volume, if I move the global slider to 50% the effective volume of would then be kick on 40%, snare on 30% and hat on 20% ?
Hey Game, could you put swing on just the bass drum channekl, by simply turning the swing button under the wrench, instead of swinging the slider on top of the whole profect? Thus giving swing to only a channel at a time? Cheers, and Thank you.
I swear there must be 115 people out there that vote down every video. I've noticed exactly 115 on many many video's. Good video. Found it useful. Cheers.
