11 Times Disney World Tricked Me! 

I will always pick the Disney dining plan. You can include VIP packages on the dining plan and I can order the expensive meals that I normally wouldn't like steak and fish dishes that cost ridiculous prices. I love not evening needing to think about it. And I can always get the alcoholic beverage to up the value of my meal as well. When my family goes to Disney, we pick PRICEY things for food on purpose on the dining plan lol we love it.

I think the inflated wait times might be on purpose. That is what we do it Software engineering. Under promises and over deliver.

I love Star Wars, and while I have my issues with the Disney Sequels from a filmmaker's and Storyteller's perspective, I loved seeing Galaxy's Edge and Batuu. It was a good time! It felt interesting and different and I enjoyed spending my time there! And the little details that the imagineers gave the place felt like home! I can't wait to see the Star Wars Hotel at some point!

The last time I was at Disney World, I had a pronounced limp from a foot injury. When I went to ride the Tower of Terror, the gate attendant gave me the card to carry through that helps track wait times. I thought that was such a bizarre choice, since it was obvious I couldn’t move at a normal pace. In fact, I was keeping to the side so people could get around me because I didn’t want to hold anyone up. The foot traffic was light enough that it wasn’t a stop and go situation, so using me as a measure for wait time was going to seriously inflate their numbers. Now I have to wonder if that was the whole point.

Yep, Disney did trick me into collecting Disney pins in 2017 & ever since then I’ve been hunting and collecting pins. I’ve collected Pirates, Toy Story/Pixar, Marvel, Lion King! But they are worth it though!

Great info! And yes, Disney is really good at hiding the meal plan in there. I get it, if you want to sit down every meal while you are there or go with what they have, then yes. Last time I went they offered it at $55 per day per person, so it would have been $220 a day for all four of us to eat. I kept track of what we ate, snacks and at least 1 reserved meal and we came in at just over $39 a day per person.

I choose the Deluxe Dining Plan. I only eat 2 full meals a day but some use 2 credits, I get the expensive food & snacks & the extra dining credits are good for multiple snacks. Now that's good because I can go someplace & use 2 snacks ( 1 for food, 1 for drink like at Starbucks ).

We got a free Deluxe Dining Plan (thanks AJ!), but it was so much food we could not eat it all, even sharing with a 2 year old at the time. If we do the dining plan again, we would opt for the regular Dining Plan or even the Quick Service one.

Thanks to your tips on the dining plan, I knew not to get it last time I went and it was a great choice!! Thank you! I also get the kids meals! I am not a big eater, and I feel so guilty wasting food since I don’t want to carry my leftovers around the parks with me.

the collector part is soooo real. I went to disney one of the years where the pins and lanyards were popular and I got a lanyard and pin pack because everyone was wearing them and I felt left out. got home and was like I 100% don't even need this and have no intention of getting more pins 😆

Disney made us fall in love and join DVC by treating us better then we have ever been treated... By EVERYONE! Some of our most magical moments were with the bus drivers giving teaching us more about Disney and giving our kids trading cards or the cook that could see my kids through the glass and started putting on a show for them.... We always go for one fancy time-consuming meal per trip. Otherwise we just don’t have time! We try to plan for decent fast food otherwise, and I mean fast ;) We don’t really eat breakfast, and don’t care too much for characters. Clearly the dining plan is not for us 😉 I do have a really great bag, and a jacket, and a sweatshirt, and a necklace, that I bring on every trip. Once in a while the great unique things come along that are always perfect. No need to have something new if the thing you have is cool & classic.

Another time to get the dinning plan is if you are doing all prefix restaurants. We starting adding up paying out of pocket & hoping for a resort sale on our hotel room vs getting & upgrading the free dining sale. Once we realize after 2-3 prefix meals (mostly character dining) the plan more then paid for itself. We were able to eat 5 meals for the price of 2 out of pocket. Plus we had all the extra snacks and a daily quick service meal per day. It was 100% worth it for us. So when AJ says do the math, she really does mean DO 👏 THE 👏 MATH 👏 It can be very worth it if you do.

AJ , I always order off the kids menu because of portion size and don’t really miss anything that I want. On the cruises , I let the waiters know at the first meal and it works out very well. for me. Love going to WDW but the damage to my credit card is getting less intense. I have learned to budget better on the extras.

I really miss the dinning plan... I know it's not a good financial thing but the convenience is great...

Have to tell you this...We are a Disney family from way back. (We were actually there in Oct '71.) Well my oldest brother was about 20 at the time and we all went to the park. We went on the Jungle Cruise and while we were on the ride it started raining really hard. My parents are waiting for us, clinging to a stand up umbrella, and my brother walks up to them talking about how Disney certainly goes all out for an effect. We never let him live that down.

The food smell funnel's get my husband every time🤣 We can't be in the parks for ten minutes before he starts looking for something to eat.

I'm always shocked that anyone would bring ONLY their magic band to pay- mainly because I work retail, and I see the "oh no, my ONE card doesn't work!" or the customer's phone dies so they can't use ApplePay and then they have to leave without anything. I ALWAYS have 2-3 ways to pay for something. The Halloween things were kind of annoying because I like going to MK and two days of each week for Sept-Oct. are set aside for the expensive Hallooween party, lol.

I’m praying the dining plan follows park hopping return next year! It was tough finding fair priced food. 🤣 the galaxy edge one is my mom, she now likes storm troopers....and the millennium falcon?🤷🏻‍♀️

Does anyone know if Happily Ever After has any chance at all of coming back soon? My girlfriend and I are both covid nurses who have been killing ourselves most of this year, and there's a line: "The flower that blooms in adversity, is the most rare and beautiful of all." from Mulan during the show that kind of perfectly describes our relationship and would make the perfect time to propose. Unfortunately our trip is only a few weeks away and it looks like every idea I've had to pop the question is closed, and there's no way we can postpone. We need the kind of magic and peace that only Disney can provide to maintain what's left of our sanity.

The dinning plan has definitely got me before. The last trip we too (pre-covid) we skipped the plan and actually saved several hundred and ate an additional day more than the meal plan would have covered. We did a sit down meal every day too. It can be convenient, but costly.

Got to experience the holiday “trickery” when we took a WDW vacation in early November. It was 86 degrees everyday (the week before it had been in the mid 70’s) and we were wearing summer clothing, but there was lots of holiday decorations/music/and characters dressed in winter holiday gear. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

We were annual pass holders for years. Two "tricks" that AJ is 100% correct; order kids meals for snacks and split the large portion regular meals. There is enough food for normal people and the bill is significantly less. Also, you can bring you own snacks into the park. We have actually gone into a park for half a day and not spent one dime. That is rare, but we have done it.

I guess the way Disney tricked me is I collect WAY too much stuff. I have closets full of collectibles that I need to start selling since I am about to retire. I don't need all that stuff hanging around for nobody to see. Might as well let others enjoy something then have it locked away in storage.

I like having all the meals aid up front we spend less that way but we have done trips where we eat snacks for all meals. Which comes out almost even with the DDP.

I liked Star Wars before they built Galaxy's Edge, but Disney definitely made me like it even more. And my husband hates Avatar but we are stoked for Flights of Passage!!!

How do I figure out where some of this food you showed is? I've watched tons of your videos but I saw SO much food I had never seen before and NEED in my life when we next go! Help a girl out!

Back at Mansion and Pirates, we would get the word from a lead by either asking them when theyre out front or calling one on a ride phone. We would tell them roughly how far the line has gotten. Woth mansion it happens more since the electric sign doesnt say, "from this point." Pirates has one at the 15 minute mark. (But people still dont read the words.) But yeah. We rounded up kind of like pizza companies and their time limit policies.

Be warned, if you stay for that one last last-minute ride, you may end up missing the last ride back to your Disney hotel! That happened to me last December - I got on Millennium Falcon one last time, and by the time I got out of the park and to the busses, they were gone for the night and I had to get a Lyft back to the hotel!

I haven't been to Disney World since may 31 , 2017 and I'm not going again till about 2022 so we don't have to have so many restrictions and we don't have to wear a mask. I'm hoping we go soon enough to go on Splash Mountain before it changes. It's my favorite bc it has story, thrill, and "You may get Wet"

I really struggled with the serving sizes at Disney. I get that you want your money's worth and it looks impressive.When you think of it by way of an environmental standpoint, it's disappointing. Sometimes it's hard to convince family members to split meals. I'm glad Disney lets adults eat off the kids menu. I wish there was a way to pick a smaller adult portion size to begin with.

Dining plan was great for our family with 2 kids under 10 in 2018 and 2019 before they started making you order kids meals for quick serve. It was plenty of food for 2 parents and two kids for the cost of 2 adults and 2 kids. We were always able to split two quick serve meals between the 4 of us. Now that we have a Disney adult and kid has to order kids meal? No way....unless it's free... maybe.

We definitely got ‘tricked’ by Pandora. We watched the movie on the flight HOME from Disney after riding the rides and buying the Banshee!

My wife and I have never used the Disney Dining Plan even though we have been going there for vacation for over 20 years. Mostly we buy Gift Cards before the trip and use them for souvenirs and food so we are certain to not overspend in those two areas. However, we went the first week of October 2020 and could NOT use our gift cards to buy our meals through Mobile Order. We still used the cards, but we had to stand in line and order at the register and that messed up the 'system' and flummoxed some of the Cast Members. They insisted that we use Mobile Order and we had to show them the error message on the screen for them to believe us and let us in the venue.

If youget a delux dinning plan could you swap a sit down meal for just a quick services meal instead? Id just be so excited to try all the things in the videos id probably try everything lol

I will never be so stupid as to link a credit card to my magic band... I'm not trying to bankrupt myself... I'll be using cash for tips and gift cards for my swag. I think the dining plan, should it return, will be ok and average out assuming everything is open and available that I want by the time I go in September 2021. All of your points on this episode were very fair.

I don’t like that 10 yr olds are “adults” and not able to to order from the kids menu at a sit down restaurant. My son eats like a bird most of the time.

So, I am reminded of Push the trashcan. I have absolutely no idea how he (she?) works. There is no C.M. insight, with any sort of controller. It's a miracle.

It's amazing to see how many people fall for the tricks every day for the rest of their lives.

To be clear, the #1 BEST part of being a Florida resident is that Halloween lasts TWO months--all because of theme parks!!!! If not for having a bloodspatter bath from Tampa to Orlando and the Headless Horseman riding all those nights, why would we stay here to put up with 6 months of summer?!?

This past January FOP has a posted wait time of 120 mins. We had about 3 hrs before our dining reservation so took the gamble (especially since we didn’t get the FP). Only waited about 30 mins. Was totally shocked and happy

My hubby and I are trying to go to Disney World hopefully in 2022, but with my divorce going super slowly from a different relationship and Covid-19. I don't know if we could do 2022, it might be pushed further to 2024 or even 2025. But we are trying to get married at Disney World on Halloween as a Nightmare Before Christmas theme, not because I'm doing the wedding myself. But my hubby wanted something like Disney or even something spooky for our wedding, and he remember what I always wanted when I was little. Because we are Best Friends Forever, we where super close friends before we took it further of course he is still my friend but who can say "Oh my hubby is my childhood friends since we where baby babies, before we became Mr. and Mrs.!" But he remember that I always wanted to dress up in a Princess like wedding but with a twist, I wanted it to be spooky and not your normal "Disney Dream Wedding" But want a bit of Disney in it. Just mostly something spooky, he thought since I LLLOOOVVEEEE Nightmare Before Christmas and ADORE Halloween that he wants to smash it together. Even thou I'm a HUGE fan of Star Wars and such, when it came down to Nightmare Before Christmas or Star Wars. I'll be doing Chewy's voice but that is far it goes, but for Nightmare Before Christmas I'll be singing all the songs, doing the voices, EVERYTHING almost.
