I moved interstate 5 days before you uploaded this video. I had to bare root the orchid due to bio-security issues between states. I cut up a small sponge and made it damp, squeezing excess water out, wrapped the roots in paper towel, and a put them in their pots (with the small bit of cut up sponge) ensuring they couldn't move. Then wrapped the pots in plastic to keep moisture away from the leaves. Then finally wrapped the whole plant in wrapping paper. I took 16 orchids in carry on luggage like this. They were out of potting mix for just over 24 hours, and they seem to be doing ok, it is only day 11 though. I expect to loose some of them due to the different climate. I don't think I would have used a damp sponge if I had seen this video first, but otherwise I'm glad it was similar.
As always..I love your videos! Fall is in about a week and winter is right behind, can you please do a video on fall/winter care for example lighting, fertilizing how/when to feed and also watering. I believe you did one long ago, I'm a beginner in growing orchids and I'm nervous for the cold weather here in New York. Looking forward to your insight! Thank you! ❤❤❤
I would love to get a shipment of a few, but I cant find the colors in phal's I want. Maybe next year. only because i had shoulder surgery 3 weeks ago.
MissOrchidGirl I appreciate your advice ,im in Fl. i had a Phal get a new bloom, surprised it looks like it is getting larger why would you get bloom this fall Oct.11,2022,so can i have advice? I started in June as im a begginer. Thanks again for all advice.
Would you have any advice on how to ship orchids that age grown in leca and self watering pots? I may be moving soon and I can’t decide weather to dry them out for a few days (risking desiccating the roots) or ship them still with moisture? Also how to contain the leca?
