The most impressive thing about him is that he knows all of his parts, when to pour it on and when to back off, which, sadly, a lot of cats twice his age don't know how to do.
Unfortunately we live in a world where people don't want to see others go far. So they hate and pass negative vibes unto others and hope to put them down. This boy is 11 playing an instrument beautifully and expressing his what's within his soul. Then there goes someone disliking what he does. Search another song and send your negative vibes else where. God bless this boy and bless him richly
+Ego Tells Yes, a few people disliked it. If you choose to focus on that, I understand. I'll take the almost 100 times the number that liked it, and the vast majority of comments that say they loved it. Be well.
Swift Jay not all of us as. Music make me feel alive gets me going lts a real expression of hard work and love of life. I want to see what's left of the great bands and teach these kids how to stay off drugs and get good contracts and play for us man.
Great job..I am a 50 yr. old black lead guitarist and note to the wise "it doesn't matter race or religion when you love what you do and can do it well then I say go for it" reach for the farthest star!!
I could see a dislike coming from this idea. The most important member group is the song. It's more about soloing than the song and so it doesn't really fit. This is me playing deveils advocate. His talent is amazing, and that's awesome.
Man all you nay sayers are full of crap. He is 11 yo, of course he is going to incorporate licks of his idols and influences into his current plying. He is still learning; not how to play the bass because he can do that, but how to learn to be him. That takes years. Including the styles of his idols and then figuring out what he likes and what he feels, intertwining that with what he has learnt will help him develop his own signature. So shut the hell up, enjoy the music and celebrate that an 11yo can play so good with passion and feel, and then follow his career and watch him become the Tony Royster Jnr of the bass.
More like the Jaco Pastorius!!!!!!! This kid is such a natural musician, and as long as he loves music more than his ego, he could do amazing things for the instrument and himself...
+andre ghouse I'm already hearing his own distinct voice, a certain natural sensitivity in his note choices and his combination of slap and soft elegance, his approach to timing which seems to be quite distinct.
His name is "PIPOQUINHA"... From Brazil (i think he is from Fortaleza City)... This is an old video... He's still a great musician... Look for PIPOQUINHA BASS in youtube.
Sorry, David. There is no such thing as "Naturals" or "born to play music(ians)." That kid is good because he had a great family that supported him. He's good because he put in hours of practice. He is a product of his environment, not genetics. I understand your comments positive intent, but it diminishes the kids efforts.
Jon Visser I never said that he didn't put a lot of time and effort in, he most definitely has!But I disagree with you. To be that good at that young of an age, you have to have some natural ability to play music! You can't just pick an instrument up and expect to be that good! It doesn't matter how many hours you poor into it, some people just have it, and the majority of musicians don't. That's what separates the virtuoso's from the mediocre.
David You can't pick up ANY instrument and hit it right away. BUT you CAN work at it. I do some keys, voice and drums. I'm told drums is my most natural instrument by a guy playing drums 50 years. But I've STILL had to play 10 years, tho! Didn't just wake up and be halfway decent, lol. I'm not bad at keyboards. They're still percussive instruments to my mind, tho. And I like whacking on things.
The sophistication and maturity of that young man's playing goes way beyond his 11 years. A prodigy? A well disciplined and gifted person with focus? Probably both and more. I was amazed and humbled by this performance. His future is secure musically.
This kid has got some GROOVE in his shoes. Wow. Incredible that he can even comprehend such incredible pockets and phrasing at such a young age. Very Impressive.
so Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorious and Marcus Miller somehow had a love child....not sure how they did it, but that is the only logical answer. This young fella is a better player then many grown men I've had to work with live.
Hey!...I'm a Bass player,..and this kid just stands on his own! He took the time out in his still young life to "Master" an instrument,...that's just great for this new gen of musicians to carry on in the future. It's more than most kids ever do,.. less get away from their computers iun which they do everything in their lives with. He doesn't need to be "compared" to Marcus Miller...whom has got his,..now this kid will go & get his! Wishing him all the best in his musical future!...Big Props to you kid!..go on to make beautiful music and just disavow the haters!! ('- ' )/
Not merely a soloist- also plays with the drums and holds it down. Very talented player. The chord work and solo at around 1: 50 is especially well done.
I have a theory. Hear me out! I believe he is from the future. Hear me out hear me out! He is an 80 year old bass master that traveled back in time into his 11 year old body to relive his glory and blow some minds while he is at it.
Getting past the slap gymnastics, there's some beautiful playing here. Inspirational stuff. Most importantly - great to see a young talent like this actually out there with a band, and not posting shredding videos from his bedroom.
bon chana Well, that came out of left field. Asians certainly do not have a corner on mastery of instruments. If you call "mastery" technical proficiency, yes, a lot of Asian kids are tiger parented to a high level of a certain sterile technical proficiency. But they're not musicians. No reason an Asian kid can't be a great musician, of course, but the diligent drill of mechanics doesn't make you one.
Yall may not understand this but this young man is thumping and running cords that a whole lot of bass players can't do. As a drummer. This young man is Awesome 👌 👏 😎
You know….the kid is obviously brilliant but the other members of the band are pretty darn good especially the dude on keys. All of cats are really talented!
Mae MaeMae he's a KID. It's WAY more work for adults. Plus, they're insanely self-conscious where kids aren't. That's the slick feel attributed to "being black."
shadow0106 Who's the best drummer who ever lived? It's always up between Bonham and Buddy Rich, usually. But who's the best KNOWN and BEST PAID? Friggin' Ringo. So THERE. Not the most complicated, but a very nice feel, particularly on the right hand. So, there's hope for YOU, too.
Talent is only as good as the passion behind it, you've got it! Very cool, you don't have to follow in anyone's foot steps . . . you'll be making your own, and others will be following yours! Proud of you young man, keep it going! Also, a great group!
Why the only place we can find such talent on you tube instead of national television, this is something worth seeing and talking about our kid doing something positive and well at it.
Love the 6 string bass! I just got one myself but hes got me beat by miles. Well actually he's 21 now so he's so far away he's getting closer. Drum players pretty good too.
To all the haters take a hike! this 11 yr old kid leaves more talent in the toilet than most of you can spew out of your mouths on this video. He has more control and expression in those fingers than most and I being a musician since I was eleven can relate to this. I would love to play on stage with this kid any day.
This young man is a true prodigy. He understands tone, dynamics, phrasing, etc. He has the whole package and he's 11 years old !!! OMG !!! I'm gonna keep a look out for this bass player !!
Just Truth Even its just like "oh, ANOTHER jazz fusion band... How many are you in now, 3 or 4?" Literally, at my old music school they had 5 jazz fusion bands play every open mic with the same 10 players in different configurations. Straight up elevator music
I’d say watch out for this young talent, all smiles, not-even looking at the fret board - at his age the neurons are pinging around like a pinball machine ⭐️
HOLY SHTTT!!!! do people just go around disliking things cause theyre trolling, because have no idea y they would dislike this. Once the vid started i was just amazed this is insane. Gj kid.
It requires a soul to be moved by such a video. There are people so hateful they spread it everywhere they go everything they touch without looking or caring. It's humanity.
OHH - EMM - GEE! He's throwin' down on that 6- Stringer like nobody's business! That Bass is as big as he is - - but the SOUND is bigger than the both of them. GREAT freakin' job Young Man!
amazing talent from amazing young boy. I am still dreaming of learning to pull one guitar string at my adult age but still fails to make one acceptable melody. amazing young boy :big up to u.
This is not just a talent.... to reach this you need kilo-tonnes of hours of hard scales / technique practice.... such great bass player at such early age....:)
My son is interested in playing the bass, so he asked me to check this out. I played the bass for a while and had some fun. Never to this 11 year old's level. Like other comments it is hard to describe this kid's level and what he'll be some day. He may never make it big due to the politics in everything, but he'll enjoys coming home from a hard day, and playing his bass. To take the world off his shoulders for a moment. God Bless him. I'd buy his CD right now.
There are no words sufficient to describe this kind of talent-timing-creativity-musical ear-heft-chops at 11. None. I just wasted your time trying to verbalize it.
I tried to play bass once. Notes have to be played boldly. If you hit a bad note, the whole world will hear it. That's why this wus switched to guitar (-:
This is the type of talent that just can't be beat. Absolutely STUNNING! By the way, what is also stupefying is that anyone could have the type of sick jealousy that makes them click on 'dislike' - even one of those is too much, and there are 134 as I write this. Unbelievable!
What does "BLACK" have to do with it? What are you trying to say of intelligence and rellivance? A gift has no color. It just IS, sir. Racism is when one has a first thought to categorize by color rather than it being about the person. Unless its for identification or something, its just plane ignorant and at the highest level, an inhumane system that according to human rights, quite illegal as far as I'm concerned.
Sir, you completely missed a South Park reference. A reference everyone else picked up on based on the three days of silence after you comment on a video viewed almost 3 million times. While you were off ranting, everyone else was laughing. You only made your own day worse.
This video gives me hope that our youth can do more with their fingers than just use their thumbs on a smart phone. What a young prodigy on the bass. A six string no less, very inspiring!
The sax player is just standing there like, "what the funk? I've been playing for twenty years, and this kid hasn't even been alive for half of it." And honestly, I could do without the sax. Just give me the three of them. I could listen all day.
