If he doesn’t end up tall, it’ll be hard for him to be competitive in the olympics. Michael is built to swim, long arms, long torso, short legs, big feet/hands and tall.

That sadly happened to my second oldest brother Mitch and myself. We both regret it. I started at 4 quit at 8, Mitch started at 9 and quit at 17. I started when he was 13. I quit because my brother quit, he was my stretching partner lol we wouldn’t touch any one else. Mitch only practiced once a week and he still would get gold, silver, or bronze, at meets. Same for me except I practiced a little more cause I had just learned to swim, I went from the 4-8 beginner age group to the 6-11 advanced age group in 6 months . Even though I was only 5.

Lost? Here's what to do: Make sure you tell someone where you are going and when you will be back. ... Learn a bit about your route and what to expect on it i.e. landmarks and also what dangers there are. Have a map and compass and know how to use them. Take an emergency kit just in case you get lost. Check the weather forecast and when sunset is. Make sure you have a fully charged phone with emergency contact numbers in it i.e. mountain rescue. Do not go hiking alone.

even though clark is truly fast and recognized by everyone in pacific swimming before, but now nationally, he is still like the rest of us. sometimes during warm up, i see him with an anxious face when he’s at Junior Olympics and Far Westerns. that kid has a down to earth personality, which my younger friend appreciates to have before his events. sure he is 11, and other people say “oh, he’s not that fast for his age,” but also realize he’s still so fast, much faster than most people at his age.

“We usually do butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle all in one practice” uhh yeah those are the strokes.. •I am a swimmer• we do a 200 im drill in our warmup. we focus freestyle at the beginning and usually go into some IM, yes sometimes we focus one stroke, but i’m saying working all strokes isn’t a big achievement.
@taylort.7899
@taylort.7899 5 лет назад
I'm also a swimmer, and for a usual practice, we focus on one or two strokes, not all of them in one day. That's not including flip turns, diving, and conditioning, which we also do. It is really hard to do all the strokes in one practice because you get tired, and no amount of breaks and really help you shake off the tiredness. Also, breaststroke and freestyle are very different, and well as butterfly and backstroke, so you use some of the same muscles but in different ways, so it exercises you differently. For me, it's only five days a week (not including swim meets) so even though that sounds like a lot it's really not.

Hopefully he can get pass the "stagnant" period. Alot of young talented athletes got burnt out when they peaked too fast or early. Only a handful can get pass that stage. Staying mentally strong and keep motivated is very important especially in swimming because its an individual sports unlike team sports. And the variety and the repeating of doing the same thing can get ones down easily. Respect to those who can get through these.

Just a random swimming tip: Do not and I mean do not try to test how long you can hold your breath under water for too long, and make sure to take breaths while swimming pretty often. There a condition anyone can get called shallow after blackout. Though it can happen not just shallow but deep. It’s technically where you stop breathing. And you drown pretty fast (immediately ) Be careful don’t do challenges with other sayin who can hold their breath longer. Stay safe!

Whenever I see these great athletes I always think about everybody else who could do just that. If you think about it a lot of these young prodigies have had the opportunity to do a lot of their passions their whole life. I mean if I had started swim training at 6 months like Clark Kent then I’m sure I would be top of the line too. Not even just sports, all kids who have done great things at young ages just had pot luck and got parents who were able to give them the chance. If I were 8 and you gave me all the parts to build a computer and a tutorial on how to do it I.e RU-vid video then I’m quite sure I could build one and say I built a PC at 7 years old and it truly wouldn’t be all that impressive. So my congratulations and respect goes to the parents for giving this kid the opportunity, and giving him something that many other just don’t have.

Phelps is a rarity in the sport of swimming. When you see records over time, there are a lot of names you see for the 8 and Under, and 9 - 10, but then you never see their name again once they get older. Not saying the kid doesn't have good endurance for his age, but genetics and height plays a huge role when you get older. People shouldn't get to excited about this kid.
