this will give them something to do with their time besides preying on each other., If you have never been locked up., the boredom will drive you crazy. The boredom will make you get involved with thing that you shouldn't
He ain't ever gonna pay you back, he is just playin you, go find a man with a job that can take care of you, not one that wants you to take care of him.
@@Kevin-jf5bw he shouldn’t have been out on bond . I’m not knowledgeable but "felony possession of a weapon" doesn’t sound non-violent or like the other two charges. Can you clarify your example ?
Because almost all violent criminals were at one point non violent criminals. Look up broken windows theory and the success it's had on crime rates when applied to policing practices.
@@Kevin-jf5bw yes, they should definitely be in some type of work program. In the end they'll learn a skill (hopefully), and have better work ethic, and a better sense of responsibility.
Worked as a CO for 2 years at a minimum security prison. These tablets are a joke, prison has become a joke and the whole system is becoming more of a rehab then actual punishment
Texas prisoners have to pay $130.00. Plus you have to buy ear buds and everything you want. So if they get them free why are prisoners families having to pay for them.
Sounds like an Psychological Program to to keep inmates calm and manageable during the times ahead. I spent 13 yrs in LA prison and there is an underlying motive here. And if u believe it's because they care. Well if they care why dont they add a/c when inmates are dyeing from the heat un Tx and Ok.
I’ve used this exact tablet, tbh it kinda sucks and is a rip off to rent watch movies was either 7$ or 9$ a day I forget but we used to get around this by sharing accounts on the block and each person would pay for one the day out the week in the group compared to everyone paying daily. It worked but if too many accounts were logged in at once we would get kicked off
I WISH. They are anything but free. The ONLY people who gained a benefit is the TDCJ. Securus charges out the kazoo for their use, and the TDCJ gets a nice kickback.
Inmates are prisoners should not be given access to digital tablets or cell phones or anything like that. They did a crime and they need to do the time therefore, they don’t have the option for toys.
Mail Texas prices inmates to complete pablert with apps radio and email and music book options Read images tables prisons Rogersville marrtowon az George low voger
Um, prisons don't make inmates "pay for food." The cow hall food is open to anyone at zero cost, even in solitary. Obviously dozens of Ramen noodles and Little Debbie's cost money, if that's what you're referring to. Do you honestly think commissary should be free?!
Being locked up is punishment. I did 23 days when I was 19yrs old. It was the most embarrassing and worst feeling I ever had. Sure we played games, worked, basketball, watch tv, but everyone couldn't stand being in there. Never went back and I'm now 52yrs old, married, Father of 3 grown children, about to be a grandpa, IT Business analyst, minister and love playing sports.
Eva Anna, if they can each have their own tablet, I think they're less likely to be fighting (I think giving them individual rooms helps too)....Looks like exon game confirms.
It's ALL about the money. After the tablet roll out they went to ALL digital mail, and guess who got the contract? If you guessed Securus you win the golden ticket. Now ALL mail has to be sent to Dallas to be scanned. How lucky for the TDCJ that Securus just by coincidence happens to have a mail processing facility in Dallas. It's a miracle.
I've been to prison. Allowing tablets will have zero effect on contraband being introduced to the system and will have zero effect on recidivism. The lack of awareness by some people in our bureaucracy is mind-boggling.
You can snitch anonymous now so ofc its gonna make a difference, 100%. And ive been to prison as well, to report something u have to fake a visit to guard on duty for some made up sheit.
@@hoenircanuteYou think those inmates are that dumb? Anonymous or not, they're gonna know you snitched and they will deal with you accordingly as soon as they get out of the hole.
It'll probably help with behavior though. I've never been to prison but I imagine bored inmates tend to be more disruptive. If people are busy playing a game on their tablet, at least they won't be fighting!
They make money from it. they sell it to the inmates and it keeps alot them out of trouble while locked up, which translates to a safer environment for both corrections officers and inmates.
I was watching one of the ex-prisoner RU-vidrs like Larry Lawton or Jessica Kent and they were covering the strangest prisoner habits... when afforded this kinda technology behing bars its not uncommon for inmates to binge watch prison movies & documentaries!
The latest way of spying on what's going on LOL. All those wire taps. Ohhh and they can "buy things to add to it", another way to plunder the families when these inmate call home to mooch.
No Computers 🖥️ it’s a BAD idea 👎 been there done that while working inmates who used it for nefarious purposes … calling out shot callers etc and getting outside gang members to do their dirty work & they are a gift to predators of all types etc… they have 24/7 to calculate …..
Good thing im paying more tax money every year by an insane amount . Working the same job which makes no sense...... good to know all these folk are getting tablets like wtf
They burn or etch the inmates ID on the tablets making stealing one virtually impossible especially considering the video mentioned they can be taken away from the prisoners for any infraction. Use your brain, obviously they already considered something so obvious...smh
I think it's a good thing These people can't read just back to life when they do. Get out and try to get better because everything's online so they don't know how that works.
It’s been two years my sister has been in prison and she’s not even allowed to phone call he can do. Prisoners are about to make a phone call. I don’t know what kind of prison is this.
I wonder how long it's going to take before they realize that s*** blows up in there face are taxpayers paying for the tablet's. I hope not i don't have one
Only thing almost as bad as having no technology is probably having access to outdated technology. Tablets are nice and all but after a couple years those tablets will be worth nothing and prisoners won't even be touching them.
Just another way to make a shitload of money. Sending a message is 40 to 50 cents and a 30-minute phone call is about $2. Add that up with the number of inmates using it and the money is astronomical. They ain’t doing it to be nice lol.
I have the numbers and it's in the MILLIONS. The FCC stepped in a shut down their predatory phone practices, so they "gave" them a tablet. The prison phone industry has been criticized for charging high fees and profiting off of vulnerable inmates. In 2019, New York City passed a bill ensuring 21 minutes of free phone calls for all inmates in New York City jails; before the bill, the phone contract with Securus had generated $5 million in revenue for the city and $2.5 million for Securus. In Texas the profit was much higher, and the TDCJ got a sweet kick back.
so what’s the point of putting criminals in prison if they still get to enjoy things, prison should be a punishment. now they get tablets so they can have fun 🤦🏻♂️
Sure, take books and TVs and programs like music away too. No baseball or basketball, and solitary for everyone with 23 hrs of lockdown... Might as well ship them to Siberia at that point dude...smfh
It's a P.R. stunt to make Prisons look humane. Probably to keep prisoners distracted. They won't even let the U.N. inspect the Prison America to see if human rights are being upheld.
You just don’t like Abbot …you’re bashing him for so many other reasons , now this ? Are you mad that he’s in a wheelchair as well ? Big negative ball of energy
Crime pays well. It pays Bryan Collier a salary that is 1100% higher than the median salary of a TDCJ employee, and 961% higher than the national average. If you're insinuating that the taxpayer paid for those tablets, you're wrong again. You atholes in LEO make it sound like the TDCJ is some kind of utopia. You don't have a clue.
We need to cut funding to the bare minimum for TDCJ Inmates. We have elderly and families that can’t even eat and the state is buying tablets for convicted felons. I think all the education programs should be eliminated for these felons. The liberals have taken control of the prison system in Texas, contact your representatives and have this madness stopped.
You must have missed something. Securus is providing the tablets for free. They do so because when inmates spend money on it for content (and they do), Securus recoups their money very quickly. And the state gets a kickback from that. So... the taxpayers aren't paying a nickel for it.
This should not be happening. My ex is in jail with a tablet that has apps. Guess what else he has, stored stolen credit card numbers. He managed to revictimize me from jail. He committed theft through the tablet on our dime. Great idea, Texas. This should never happen!
You just need to go to your bank and get a new card . I’m sorry but more ppl need those tablets than your husband hacking …if he’s doing that you shouldn’t have any contact with him
This person is lying. The tablets don't have "Internet" capability, they run on an "intranet". Meaning, the ENTIRE network is contained within the prison. These tablets can't access the "world wide web", only what's provided in the TIGHTLY monitored and HIGHLY restricted prison network. I don't know why this person is lying, but don't believe her. What's she's implying is literally impossible.
@@danieldevito6380 …. Sir, I wasn’t aware of how the tablets worked at this time. This man stole from our family for years. It was only until I was able to speak to him in a public place, did he admit to placing an order on an unauthorized card. I wasn’t lying to lie. At the time I did believe he was able to manage this because he stored our previous card numbers everywhere.
You think they are giving these tablets as a reward? The main reason they are handing out tablets is because the state makes a percentage off of every purchase made on those tablets. They let prisoners buy movies, music, games and books on those tablets because they are making money. The department of corrections cares way more about making money, than punishing criminals.
I'm not a fan of codling prisoners but what I really hate is recidivism. Giving cons access to tech that can help them set themselves up for success on the outside decreases recidivism.
What happens when an inmate comes out and has no knowledge of how to work a computer? How can they get a job? If they can’t find a lawful way to make money, what do you think they might do? This is why America has the biggest prison population in the world by a landslide - short-termism mindsets and zero understanding of what prisons are supposed to achieve; yes prison is a punishment, but it’s also meant to be a place for rehabilitation.
Prison is about rehabilitation not punishment. providing education is the best way to rehabilitate. However, These Securus tablets are predatory, charging inmates outrageous prices for simple features. ($0.25 per email for example). you will most likely see this in private prisons where Securus will split the profits with the prisons. its disgusting.
