Old Rusty WW1 Billhook Machete Restoration. This rusty billhook was found in the woods at the site of a World War I military camp. Perhaps the machete was used by soldiers. The billhook was very rusty and damaged. Possible shrapnel or bullet damage. I decided to restore an old rusty billhook. I removed the rust, made a new handle. I hope you enjoyed my restoration video.

I really like it when you sand the pitted metal after cold bluing it. It gives it a wonderful contrast and bears witness to its age. Another fine job!

Hi! Yes, partially changes tempering. After welding, I hardened that section of the blade. The hardness of the blade has changed, but not critically.

Amazing! Love your work! 2 questions: -any particular reason why you don't use sandblasting? -despite the oil in the end, sanding part of the cold bluing does expose the metal to oxidation, correct? Cheers from Portugal! 🇵🇹🙏

I don't really like sandblasting. I use sandblasting when there is a lot of rust. After cold blueing, I wash the item very well with soap and water and then cover with oil.
