I don't think i am the first person to watch this video multiple times or ever will be. What a wonderful Bass. Sometimes the ocean smiles on you, maybe its because of respect. Thank you for sharing this moment.
A bass that size is VERY old. Been avoiding nets and trawlers all its life. Almost certainly a female. It will live to breed again and almost certainly not be caught again. All big bass should be returned without question! :-)
Yep my last one was 90cm and 16lb when I was fishing for coal fish after storm Ophelia on the wexford coast. She was released back with a tear after hunting one that big for 20 years 👍
Brilliant. In just a short film you've conveyed exactly why we go fishing. All the blanks, lost gear, missed bites, lost fish, lousy weather.....and then, one day......
Congratulations on your first double mate, I do love to hear other anglers get excited when they know they have a decent fish on. It really makes all the time we put in worth it.
Brilliant fish mate, absolutely amazing. I am fishing for seabass two years now, and this fishing is the best I have ever come across. I will have a Sebass video coming up on my channel in the next 2-3 weeks. Can't wait for the new season, best of luck man, hope you will be able to beat that one day!!
if you don't mind me asking.. how do you get the zonk to do something similar to the patchinko. As far as i can tell the zonk is listed everywhere as a deep diving lure and the patchinko is a surface lure. Where i live the water is relatively shallow and i'd love to try the zonk but worried i'd snag up all the time.
Congratulations mate! Very good catch and great attitude and thanks for posting! I bet you will never EVER forget that moment she first broke surface and you seen the size of it
My pb is 12 and a quarter pound, a few years ago now, but I lost one from a boat that was much much bigger, I still cry over that 28 years later now. Real pleased for you, a special moment, and yes, I know exactly how you would have felt hooking into that fish. You can never quite believe it. Fully understand why you concealed your spot, I’m the same. Our bass marks are hard earned.
That must of been amazing 👍 I must admit I knew it was well hooked and not flipping around I. The fish’s mouth. Ref marks as you know you could well fish that mark and if tides and times are not right you will blank over and over again. Most of the time it’s the gill nets coming in the next day that I worry about but I actually had to drive here for a couple of days after the video and no one was there and I blanked too! Happy days thanks for your comments again
@@SaltwaterAngler true, all built up knowledge goes out the window if those horrible gill net are there. Theyre so close to shore sometimes as well, ive often thought thats dangerous for swimmers. Those nets kill everything. Horrible things. Yuk
Wow, a fish of a lifetime in the making. so pleased for you, a big well done. I don't understand why people give you the thumbs down for that cracking effort, makes me sick.
That’s very kind of you, thanks for watching. When this video initially came out it got a thumbs down before it even started being played on premiere ! As a creator it’s the thoughtful comments that matter. My must hated video percentage video is the channel trailer for some reason 🤔🤔
@@SaltwaterAngler I think some people are totally disrespectful in what effort is been made to bring contents to the audience. I do blank a lot of times here in Scotland, especially in winter as we have not many whiting up here, but I still try and show my subscribers that effort is been made.
Just came back to watch this again! There are so many 'fishing' videos with very little worth seeing on them. Yours are always well worth seeing mate! :-)
Wow what a bass! Congratulations, I'm just starting out with lure fishing, and having never used Braid before I'm thinking of just using a mono line straight through, as I'm comfortable using this line, and having never tied braid to leader aswell, do you think I will be ok using a mono straight through? My reel is a penn III 3000 dx the rod is an HTO 12-42g
Yes that set up is all you need ! There are some advantages to braid for sure but I mainly use it as it gives a better feel of what the lure is doing. Fluorocarbon is a harder line that stops the braid near the lure getting sheared. So again even that is not essential especially if you fish over clear ground or the boat. Every knot is a potential weak spot but I’d continue as you are and maybe try the braid flouro set up when you have caught a few fish. Thanks for the message Sam I look forward to hearing how you get on
Would really appreciate you watching this in HD. You can change the settings using the gear icon to the bottom right of the video. This is so you can pick out some fish on the water a bit easier.
What a cracking fish and a fish of a life time congratulations to you. I've been beach fishing for years and just getting into lure fishing. Can I ask which is the best method to attach the lure to the line? Is it directly or do you use a particular link or swivel? Many thanks and liked and subscribed 👍
Hi Jim you will all you need to know in a recent video on the channel called soft plastic lure fishing for beginners episode 1. Basically the rapala knot or the mini breakaway clips
Thanks. I had a second camera set up but forgot to record in all the excitement. Yea it had to go back for sure at that size. Have subscribed to you and would ask my audience.to check you out. Here. ru-vid.com loving. your videos. Im setting up a private working /mastermind group for us sea fishing tubers. Will send details if your interested. Tight lines
Is it recommended to have your drag that loose and let them have that much line that often? I'd be worried I'd unhook it. I would love some tips on how to play a fish like this or bass in general.
I’ve had a 12lb 5 ounce, huge tail on it. Took me about 15 mins to play it out. That was on a blue Rapala J11. I used to catch a lot of big bass from certain marks I knew, but I’ve noticed that in the last five or six years, big bass are much fewer in number. I’ve had an 11 pounder as well, but that was downtiding from my kayak. Good video, enjoyed
Would love to see some fishing videos on the island, now we're allowed to go fishing in this lockdown I've been out a few times this past week. Next week is going to be a scorcher so you can bet I'll be all over the island on my motorbike with some light spinning gear 💪
The bass are doing different things on each part of a tide, this particular Mark I have not caught another fish for almost 2 years ! Generally though that first part of the tide can be golden
Great video & what a catch. Just out of curiosity, what's the head camera you're use to film the video? Is it a GoPro or a cheapie version of one? I've been looking for something on a budget to film my fishing when on holiday. Do you use an internal/external microphone? Sorry for all the questions. Any advice would be great. Thanks :)
I used a GoPro 5 . They have pros and cons. I didn’t then but use separate mics with a zoom h1 now. Most of the saltwater angler videos are. A mixture now of iPhone 11, a canon 700d dslr camera and gopros. If your on a budget check out a 5 but also maybe a yi4k is worth looking at.
Fabulous video and lovely to see the childhood excitement in your voice and actions when hooking and landing such a beautiful bass.Really enjoyed watching and makes me want to go fishing and to catch any sized bass for me would be an achievement as not the worlds greatest lure angler, but watching your footage gave me that urge to throw an imitation out for some fish.well done again friend
Thank you Dominic I’ve now been back over 12 times and not caught a fish from here ! Lure fishing is all or nothing isn’t it the thrill of a bass hitting a surface lure is as good as it gets for me and I’ll keep aiming for that. Appreciate your comments
Lets hope this ban on catch and kill keeps up till stocks really climb back and a size cap keep the bigger bass producing thousands of eggs maybe a 1 fish take home max 2 i love a sea bass supper fresh from the sea Great catch well done a lifetime lasting memory shared thanks great to see the care you had for the fish too !
Mr O Mr O A slight contradiction in your comments 🤔 When you see the numbers of Bass caught by commercial fishermen, I really don’t see the point in a total ban for pleasure anglers. I agree with the limit at present, one fish per session 42 centimetres or over, although I generally only take a fish 45 centimetres or over but would never take a fish like this. A great fish and fantastic memories. 👏👏
It bugs me to this day ! I don’t even have that trophy shot ! But I often wonder where she is now maybe a 15lber maybe in Portugal or a wreck in the channel ? Who knows ! Hopefully not caught be a trawler!
Beautiful. Respects for returning that one. That could have been a nice bar b cue. Please share fishing mark postcode thanks. So bored of this lockdown
Great fish 👍 well done - I know exactly how you feel, I had a big bass off a Dorset beach many years ago, on a whole pouting deadbait under the rod tip at dusk. They fight so well and I’ll never forget the speed it stripped line off the reel. Mine was also 11lb 8oz and it was returned too. Fish like that are once in a lifetime for most of us - you’ll enjoy the memories for a long time; I have 👍
That sounds like a wonderful memory Peter. A live poring has to to be the number 1 big bass method too. You never know there’s always a chance of another double one day
Thats a fantastic Bass. I can understand how you must have felt. Started lure fishing last summer and caught a 5Ib Bass, what a feeling. So nice to see the fish returned as well. I could'nt keep a Bass after they have given so much during the fight. Thanks for posting.
I will keep any bass over 3.1.2lb regardless of the regulations, it's the nets what caused most of the stock decline and the trawlers, not those who use rods.
Rick Kania Brilliant mate, might as well say "well, organised shop lifting happens all the time, but I only steal every now and then,so I'm not the real problem" what an ignorant and selfish perspective. My money's on you being a brexit voter 😂
I completely agree with you. It's not us that cause the oceans from getting depleted. Even 1000 fisherman fishing 24/7 at the shore can not haul in the amount of what one trawler hauls in in an hour, on daily base. But that doesn't mean that I'll keep every fish. If it's big enough to feed me and my wife, and we feel like eating fish that day: I'll keep it. Cheers.
Caught a 7lb bass last weekend, the bite was amazing, thought it was done and it took another 20 yards off my reel. Looked wonderful when it came onto the beach but even better swimming off after it had recovered.
Wow, what a fish! Just shows why we never give up on a dream catch. You guys down south are lucky to have the bass that you've got, even if it is needing help. Scottish bass (north east anyway) are much fewer. It takes a dedicated angler to catch up here. They are around but its definitely a proper challenge.
Ah thats a fair swap then. I couldn't do without the cod sessions. Lucky enough to get them all year round. You do get a bit fed up with the same thing all the time tho. We get wrasse and Pollock but again you need to know the marks, very hit and miss
A magnificent fish! Never caught one that big (a bass) What the viewer doesn't get is your heart pounding in your chest with the fear of it getting off! I had this when I caught my 27lb cod on the Pier at Newhaven.I like the way it conveys the time and effort it takes to subdue a fish of this size. It always looks better when someone else films it, you have quite enough to think about fighting the fish!
Lovely video and nice bass love it when you apologised for not putting up close up shots of that big bass and very well done on release. Love watching your videos buddy.
yes indeed epic fishing ..matches anywhere in the world really. The sea bass though related to the perch genus is truely stands out as a game fish.. A Q..why did u modify the trebles obviously it didnt effect the performance of the lure. and was it in Essex?
I had a few bass that needed releasing but impaled on the middle treble. It's a compramise because the lure Doesn't act as well. But hook ups seem to not be effected. All work in progress will see how 2019 goes
Well done buddy. What a beautiful fish and the excitement in your voice says it all. Just amazing !!! I was down at Swanage for a couple of days visiting a relative. I took my little telescopic spinning rod and I caught a small Pollock and my first ever bass of just over 3lb …. Never done any sea fishing before. Give me a good little scrap. Just the weather was a bit rough but I was well chuffed …… A fish like that what are you caught would be a fish of a lifetime for anybody . I mainly fish for chub and perch on Yorkshire rivers so was nice just to try some salt water fishing for a change. It’s something I will definitely be trying again. Just need to get some different bits of kit and some different Lures .. cracking video and all The best to you !! 🎣🎣😀😀👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽… PS. Subscribed 😊😊
Nice one thanks John- I think that’s the joy in fishing you could be fishing for perch one day or in the sea the next. Lots of lure related content on the channel . That’s not a bad start for your saltwater catch either a 3lb bass and a pollack , thanks for the sub , some More bass on lure is coming soon !
I was in kefalonia last year for 4 weeks . I caught a 12lb bass .. it was absolutely amazing .. .. it was in a little place called katileos all the locals and holiday makers stood and clapped 👏 till I beached it ... ❤IT
Hi Saltwater Angler. You say you have pixelated it out "for obvious reasons". Without giving too much away - what are the "obvious reasons"? Thanks in adavnce
Generally Sandeep I don’t give away marks and if there is a prominent feature like a hotel or pub on the beach I delete it out. I also add rocks using premiere pro and delete things also flip the video ! The lengths we go to eh !
Bass are habitual ( until they are caught) so I know a minority of people will watch videos just to recognise a specific mark. I need to keep some of these private as I have spent many years testing out tides and individual rocks to find out when the fish come along
Thank you for saying that. I looked at this Mark at low tide and must of played it over the only bits of clean ground bit of luck and a fishing dream come true.
Top catch buddy. To be fair, the beginning and middle of the video had some really great action. I think being so close to the water, it being so clear with no wind and also the fact that fish were present all contributed. Catching a cracking fish and getting it all on camera. What more can you ask for?
Thanks for leaving this comment. It's rare for everything to come together, I hadn't thought about the wind being slight that definitely helped the fish sporting in the slow mo. For next year I've got an underwater rig to film them under water. Thanks again
This is the best filmed bass fishing vids I,ve seen very clear, what did you film it with?Tthe release was not so clear but that is because you were more interested in the well being of the fish which is great, well done buddy.
Great thanks! Appreciate your comments. This was filmed on the go pro head 5 Black head cam in linear mode. Also a go pro 3 for the first bit of footage.
@@SaltwaterAngler Thats ok ,thought it might be a go pro they are good , not sure where you live but if you are in Cornwall any time give message me if you fancy abit of bassing , off the rocks or on my boat, my boat is in Porthleven harbour.
Excellent channel very informative I’ve just watched a few and am loving it I’m more of a pike angler but tryed my hand at top water bass last summer and can’t wait to get back out there Great channel and good luck matey
What a cracking fight that bass gave you .. gave you a good run for your money ... The sight of that fish steam training through the clear water was lovely.. best feeling ever I agree with you 💯%
What a cracking Bass very well done that certainly got me excited to get out again .i hope to join the double figure club some day biggest is 8.6 and that was 15 years ago haha still trying .
Thanks, the dislike came from someone 12hrs before the video started while it was sat in Premiere! Appreciate your support thanks for commenting John Bell. Been a very positive response
amazing! I caught a 9.7 lb bass as my first ever fish in the uk! my pb before that was a palm sized fish .. I was honestly aiming for small fish and I was very upset that I wasn’t catching any .. I used circle hook with squid and mackerel and I got a huge fish!!!
