Things the paddles have in common
- The names (annoyingly ~ Love the paddles, the naming scheme needs an update_
- 6” grip length (great for 2-handed backhands)
- 16.5” paddle length (elongated shape)
- 7.5” paddle width
- 4.125” grip circumference
- Thermoformed edges (tends to be more robust)
- Great amount of spin
- Amazing value
- Free neoprene paddle cover
- USA Pickleball Approved
With all of these amazing attributes, this could be one of the best deals in Pickleball right now.
Hurache-X Control | $212 Canadian ~ $149.99 USD
- This is the newer of the two paddles & is more “control” oriented
- Grey edge guard (this is the easiest way to tell it apart from the Control+)
- Two paddle thickness
- 14mm
- 16mm
- 4 layer surface construction
- 3 layers carbon fibre
- 1 top layer of kevlar
Thoughts/opinions (16mm variation)*
- Slightly heavier weight (though it feels better balanced than the Control+)
- The Control+ plays a bit better with some tape on the top of the paddle where the Control plays perfectly with no extra weighting
- Drastically different feel due to the kevlar face
- Ball tends to dwell a little bit longer on the face allowing for more precise placement
- This requires a bit more of a swing/power when dinking but find it’s easier to control
- Still good amount of power but definitely less than what you get from the Control+
- As I personally don’t need any help generating power, the slightly softer paddle face of the Control allowed me to have more confidence in my baseline returns/serves staying inbounds
- Found the Control+ could be a bit more unpredictable in this regard
- Larger sweet spot compared to the Control+
- Can really feel (& hear) this on any mishits as it’s a lot more forgiving near the edges whereas the Control+ has a more defined sweet spot
- Paddle face tends to mark up quicker vs. Control+
- Likely due to the top kevlar layer
Who is this paddle for?
- Someone looking for a more control-oriented game
- Someone who wants to have the option to select between a 14mm & 16mm paddle
- Someone who prioritizes spin
- Someone who can generate their own power but wants to place the ball very precisely

Hurache-X Control+ | $198 Canadian ~ $139.99 USD
- This is the more “power” oriented of the two paddles
- Black edge guard
- One paddle thickness (16mm)
- 3 layer surface construction
- 2 layers carbon fibre
- 1 layer fibreglass
Thoughts/Opinions
- Very poppy surface compared to the Control
- Ball releases much faster off the paddle with very little effort
- Very helpful from the baseline but found it a bit more prone to pop-up high when dinking/playing at the kitchen
- Generates a lot of power compared to the Control
- Even with the slightest flick of your wrist, this paddle generates a lot of power due to the paddle construction (fibreglass/carbon fibre combination does this)
- For me, I actually found it to be a bit too much power & required me to pull back a lot on my swing to keep the ball in play
- My mom loves the way this paddle plays since it helps her generate power on her shots
- Smaller defined sweet spot that seems to get better with more usage
- Initially I found the sweet spot on the paddle to be quite narrow in the centre but this seemed to grow (marginally) the more I used it
- Can really hear the difference when hitting on the edges of the paddle
Who is this paddle for?
- Power-focused players
- People who need help generating power on their shots
- Someone that experiences shoulder fatigue
- As you need to swing with less intensity, it helps reduce muscle usage

Which paddle do I prefer?
- I personally prefer the Control vs. the Control+
- Knowing I can continuously place the ball where I want on my serves/drives/dinks gives me a sense of confidence I didn’t necessarily get from the Control+
- Once I got used to it (took maybe 2-3 games), I was able to have a lot of diversity in my play by using power at certain times & control/finesse at other instances
